The best restaurants serving Mediterranean food in England

I have visited on a number of occasions. This time we had dinner in The Orchid restaurant. We went for a drink in the bar at Fletchers Restaurant first which was lovely but completely empty. We then went to the Orchid which again was so quiet with only 1 other table occupied. The food was delicious, although hugely overpriced at £48 for a fillet steak with a few chips and an extra £5 if you wanted peppercorn sauce. The service was unfortunately extremely slow for drinks even though the restaurant was empty.

This place is so over rated its unbelievable. Its like London prices, but most people are on Burnley wages. I cant understand that they can get away with charging the prices they charge. They will use the same brewery as the rest of the pubs and clubs. And its the same wine that pubs and clubs use and they charge nearly 3 times more for the same drink just to pay their extortinate overheads. Their should be a ban on ripping customers off. 10 people having a meal and a couple of drinks £1,000!!!! absolutely rediculous

Monday lunchtime visit, 3 for a quick lunch. Had pizza which excellent and quick. The service was also good although it was quiet for a work day lunchtime,

Hossam, I tried to,contact your restaurant repeatedly and none of your phones were answered. It just kept ringing. You advertised that you do delivery but it does not appear so. Very disappointing. Won’t be ordering ..and you are losing business.

The name is NOT ottoman kitchen, no bar tender, dishes came without the correct accompaniments, £17 for about 3 handfuls of salad with 5 lumps of feta and no dressing posing as "greek salad". However the staff were nice, the Sigara borega (feta cheese in filo pastry) was delicious.

Nice welcoming, only had a Portuguese latte but the staff were very friendly.

9 of us hadn't booked and found us a table! Lovely music and surroundings waiting staff excellent! Food excellent had a great night free limoncello shots for my sons birthday what a fabulous night we had

The hotel we were staying in recommended the restaurant so we followed their advice and booked a table. What a massive disappointment. The “manager” was so rude and unwelcoming, pointing at a few tables telling us to sit where we wanted. He then told us it was a shortened menu, without explaining what that meant. After enquiring he said it was just there starters, three mains and three desserts. My husband and I took some time to consider if we wanted to stay, but with limited knowledge of Rye we decided to try to make the most of the evening. The burgers we ordered were dry and not cooked the way we had requested. Service was so poor and when the bill came, a 12.5% service charge had been added, and the 10% discount code we had from our hotel and been ignored. I challenged these issues and a revised bill (about £28 less) was provided. We will visit lovely Rye again but absolutely not go to the restaurant again.

I went there having quick take away lunch, I understand the guy was alone, but I just order mixed shawarma wrap as it’s quick wrap to make, as I usually have grill shish wrap. The guy ignored my order and went busy with his delivery order, I asked if he could wrap my shawarma while doing his job, he said I am alone and can’t do all myself just wait. At the end he just wrapped shawarma without asking about salad, sauces or anything else. Just felt how rude was he and didn’t enjoy my wrap at all. Will never go again.

Not Greek- should not be using Greek descriptions on their food. Overpriced and tasteless. Oil needs changing! Left a horrible odour on hands and mouth after eating. I don’t think their was more than 2 cubes of meat in the “souvlaki” - very disappointed

such friendly service! Amazing fried potatoes and lovely burgers - would go again. Owner was very nice and had a great smile
