The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving Mediterranean food

5/5 9TH APRIL 2025 Wandering Wednesday’ this week took Hubby Neil and I to an eatery where we have not been to previously. We ventured into Town to a Bistro called ‘Sakan’ on Sankey St. The restaurant was pristine and our server was a lady named Aneta, this lady was lovely and smiley, very polite, friendly and professional….. It wasn’t too busy at the time we dined there so food waiting time was literally cooking time. We both ordered the same which was Eggs Benedict and steak…. This was layered up with….. Two toasted muffins, finely chopped tomatoes and white onion…… sliced medium rare lean steak, with two poached eggs, smothered in silky Hollandaise sauce, garnished with cress, Nigella seeds, black pepper, the plate was drizzled with chilli mayo with added pearls of tiny biquinho sweet peppers…..this was accompanied with a dish of lightly salted crispy potatoes…. This whole dish was SO PERFECT, I didn’t want it to end… I’ve never had Eggs Benedict before but I’ll never forget the first restaurant I tried it in……. We both said that this is probably the best restaurant we’ve been to yet on Wandering Wednesdays. Massive compliments to the Chef, whose name is Pawel…..Who has a gift in cooking…. Fault could not be found at all, it was totally delicious. SIMPLY PERFECT and thank you. This place is a definite MUST TRY…. It goes without asking if we’ll be back!….. I wrote this back in February 2020 when this place was in the o2 centre: I was haplessly wandering towards Wagamama when I was intercepted by one of the waiters working at this adjacent establishment. ‘Good evening sir, the restaurant you’re about to enter is an insipid and hackneyed chain’, he proclaimed, ‘and we have a chef preparing fresh food on site, we offer fusion cuisine and an unrivalled view of the YO! Sushi conveyor belt and what’s more we’ve climbed to the lofty heights of number 38 on the TripAdvisor rankings’. Coincidentally I had recently made a resolution to only consume fusion cuisine, so needless to say I was convinced. Upon entering the already excellent lighting was adjusted to my taste... I’ve lost the second page of my review, but from here on in the experience just got better and better. I look forward to tracking this place down again in Dalston.

Stopped off for lunch today with a good friend. Both had the pittas. I have the veg option (sublime with aubergine, halloumi and courgette ) He had the pork. Fresh delicious and served with a smile by the incredible staff. A little piece of Greece to treasure

Comida deliciosa, gran servicio y muy bien valorado. Animado, pero no demasiado fuerte. Tamaños de porción perfectos y los cócteles más sabrosos. Muy recomendable.

SOTIRIS es la mejor panadería griega. Me he vuelto adicta a su hermosa rodaja de vainilla (bugantas) cubierta con azúcar glas y canela. ¿Quién puede resistir esta cálida tentación? Esta panadería es extremadamente popular, aunque me encantaría guardar esta información, puede llamar con anticipación para reservar lo que desee si aún está disponible en la encimera. Disfruta 👍

Totalmente excepcional. .. fuimos a comer el domingo y nos quedamos boquiabiertos. A primera vista, dos entrantes tradicionales e iguales para la red, pero elevados a un buen nivel gastronómico no común en esta zona. Todo sobre nuestra experiencia fue de primera categoría. Comí mejillones y carne asada, mi esposa comió cóctel de gambas y pollo. La comida, las bebidas, el servicio y el ambiente eran excelentes. Venimos aquí con bastante frecuencia, así que estábamos esperando cosas buenas en nuestra primera experiencia de almuerzo del domingo, pero aún así, nos sorprendió muy gratamente. No puedo recomendar este lugar lo suficientemente alto. . . .

Ordered a tuna and cheese panini which was inedible because they stuffed it so much with tuna mayo, it was so messy I couldn’t eat with hands. The cheese wasn’t melted and it was cold. When I asked nicely for a refund they made feel uncomfortable for asking so I ended up leaving the slop on the table and left. Will not recommend or eat here again.

Just thoroughly enjoyed coronation chicken sandwiches. Great portion sizes, very fresh and very tasty. Fresh salad accompaniments. I would highly recommend Dogh for a very enjoyable lunch. Nothing but praise this place.

Went for a breakfast here on Thursday morning last week. The food was excellent and service also excellent. Highly recommend, will be back.

A special evening, which could not have been more amazing. from Nikki and the front of house teams care and hospitality, to the truly amazing food from Aldo.. no attention to detail was too much trouble.. with a lactose intolerant and a vegetarian the care and consideration was impeccable. It made the celebration all the more special. We would strongly recommend casa zilli fabulous food hospitality and generosity thank you team #casazilli we will be back

Excellent food and service very accommodating. Meals were a good size and selection of house wines also good. Will definitely go another time and recommend to others. Top class!

Owner and front of house Mike makes this quaint little Italy so welcoming. Great food and great ambience. Millie our hostess was so friendly and made our experience even more fun. Totally loved this place. Booking would be advisable as only 10 tables available.

La comida en este restaurante era auténtica, deliciosa y fresca. El servicio era excelente y el precio era razonable. Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante. Estuve visitando Manchester desde Brighton para pasar la noche con mi marido y nos encontramos con él en mis viajes y tan contentos que lo hicimos. Nos encanta la comida turca y la comida servida en este restaurante tenía un sabor muy tradicional y sabroso. El personal era muy acogedor y atento. Sin duda volvería allí de nuevo.
