The best restaurants serving Italian food in Cotswold South West

Alfonso Gelateria was the finest gelato that I’ve ever tasted! My husband and I had just come from traveling through Italy and never found authentic gelato like we found in the heart of the Cotswolds at Alphonso’s. I had read a lot about gelato and what makes it authentic, how it is to be stored to retain the best flavors and texture and the ingredients that go into it. Alfonso’s was excellent and every category. I rarely eat any desserts, but this was worth having an every way! Thank you for doing your gelato in a traditional and pure way. You will really be missing out if you don’t stop by this gelateria in Stow in the Wold!!!!

I brought my wife to Amore Mio to celebrate a milestone birthday and we were VERY happy with this choice! The staff were excellent, as weel as the food, and to top off the dinner, they played "Happy Birthday" over the music system, and got the rest of the customers to join them in singing Happy Birthday to my wife while presenting her with some of their famous gelato topped with a candle. Plus, they had Italian music playing as the background music, which too many ethnic restaurants don't do and that always takes away from the mood & feel for what they are serving and the authenticity of their cuisine. We were warmly greeted as we arrived at this busy restaurant and then provided with very friendly and attentive service as we enjoyed a delicious meal from the extensive menu, with generous servings, good presentation and great flavours. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the complimentary limoncello to finish and were farewelled by the delightful owner, who thanked us enthusiastically for our custom. An excellent dining experience!

Friendly staff, good food, nice place to sit - a pleasant garden in the summer as a bonus.

Restaurant doesn't look as nice in real life as on the pictures. Ordered, had the calamari, was like rubber. Sausage pasta was bland with hardly any sausage overcooked pasta. Bolognese sauce tasted odd like it had cinnamon or something in it. Rosemary bread was the only quality item ordered. Service average to poor.

Came for lunch - great selection, friendly and helpful staff, lots of options (including gluten free). All came quickly and generous portions. Very tasty too!

Do not wish this place on anyone. Was treated terribly and forgot about, just an all around bad experience. Support a local business in the area and not this corporate owned spot that does not care about your experience.

Found this place by accident whilst walking around. Very good Italian food and service. We sat in the garden and enjoyed good food, beers and very pleasant service. Dog friendly as well.
