St Thomas, Portsmouth
28/03/2020: Excellent food and beer delivered straight to our door. Food was clearly freshly cooked and delivered with a friendly face. Delicious as usual, came within the time promised. Very glad to have this for the next few weeks, keep up the good work!
15/03/2020: Although this is more of a beer place, we came for the food and it didn’t disappoint! The portion of mussels was super generous, amazing frites with them too. The halloumi fries was also to die for. Not being massively into beer, we sampled the rose and merlot - both were delicious. Would be back a lot sooner if i was still local to the area!

Einstein Bier Haus

Riverside, Liverpool
04/06/2020: Einstein Bier Haus is a great German style beer hall I always look forward to visiting on any trip into Liverpool city centre I take. I love the look of this beer hall, set over two floors, beer posters and enamels adorning the walls, amazing artwork, cool decorative features abound throughout this pub, great decor and furnishings, tv's and big screens to enjoy the sport, a superb solid wood serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and upstairs, there's even an upstairs outside terrace, its just one very cool pub.We were here on a Saturday evening, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of staff who served us a beer each,we opted to have Paulaner weißbier ,these delicious wheat beers were served in excellent condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great pub we were in. My wheat beer was so good,a zesty, light wheat beer bursting with taste, very easy to drink,a beer style I really enjoy, it was just so good being in such a wonderful pub enjoying such a quality brew. We both really enjoyed our beers in here and although we only stayed for the one beer each and our visit was only fleeting but as on every other visit to here we had a great time. Einstein Bier Haus is easy to locate on Concert Square, a square and area teeming with pubs, bars and restaurants. Opening hours are;Monday to Thursday, 11am till 2am.Friday & Saturday, 11am till 3am.Sunday, 11am till 2am.A great beer hall ,one I highly recommended you visit if your in the area .
15/03/2020: Came in for a roast and received great service from Luke and Carly who are both lovely! Roast was gorgeous, definitely will be returning.

German Doner Kebab

Bargate, Southampton
15/05/2020: We've ordered food from German Doner Kebab at around 6.30pm, it said that the food will around 7.15pm. Food was delivered at 8.30. Cold and soggy. In one of the kebabs, there was red cabbage, meat and one tomato! We were waiting 2h for cold and soggy food! We ate there before and it was good but wouldn't recommend delivery.
11/05/2020: Very good kebab. The meat was perfect, tasty and not greasy at all. Staff were polite and with a speedy service. No complaints. Located on the high street so easy accessible.

Katja's Cakes

Lerwick South, Shetland Islands
12/02/2020: Having walked up to Sumburgh Head lighthouse on a cold, rainy and windy January day, there was nothing more welcoming than the sight of Katja's coffee and cake bus. As it was just the two of us, we actually sat inside and spent a very pleasant half hour chatting to Katja and enjoying the good strong coffee and the very lovely cake as we sheltered from the weather. If you are visiting the lighthouse, definitely grab a coffee here, it's quirky, she's lovely and the coffee and cake are top notch.
13/09/2019: Having completed the steep climb to Sumburgh Lighthouse ahead was the welcoming sight of Katja’s waggon called in to provide sustenance for weary travellers while the cafe is being refurbished! Despite gale force winds we huddled down behind a stone wall to sip our fresh coffee and homemade cake. The views make it all worthwhile. Definitely a ‘must-do’ experience while on Shetland.

Trockel, Ulmann & Freunde

Market, Cambridge
08/11/2019: Very relaxed and good atmosphere with lots of funny jokes. The service is super efficient and friendly. The food is always great.

Hathersage Social Club

Hathersage and Eyam, Derbyshire Dales
25/02/2020: Had a fab evening here on Saturday. We were pleased to see that chef Carey Brown hasn’t lost his touch & has brought some of his classic dishes to this restaurant. The starter of crab tian with battered prawns worked well together & my monkfish with chilli jam was delicious & something I remember from Carey’s days in Sheffield. Our friends loved their belly pork & black pudding starters & the cod dish was the best my husband had eaten anywhere for ages. Our waitresses were friendly & efficient & I was really pleased to see that they serve non alcoholic gin for us poor folks that are driving. This is a great restaurant tucked away, and definitely worth a visit.
15/02/2020: Popped in for lunch today with my wife, sister-in-law, mum and border collie. I had garlic chicken waffle, my mum had a full English breakfast (served all day) and the others, Vegetarian breakfasts. Service was efficient and friendly and the food was outstanding - the Vegetarian breakfasts were the best ever. The atmosphere was just right and we highly recommend HS to all.

Kaffeehaus Amadeus

Lanchester, County Durham, <20£
10/02/2020: If you’ve been to Austria, then you’ll know that this is a genuine Kaffeehaus, run by an Austrian family. It’s high standard but small menu has everything you would expect and a full range of traditional coffees. Can’t recommend highly enough. No germkondel on the menu though
05/02/2020: Amazing coffee shop in Lanchester.Recommended by my sister I gave it a try and was not disappointed.Friendly staff, excellent coffee and a delicious breakfast. Too full do couldn't eat a cake afterwards so brought some home and was not disappointed. Will definitely be visiting again.

Aldgate,Billingsgate,Bishopsgate,Bridge,Broad Street,Candlewick,Cornhill,Langbourn,Lime Street,Portsoken,Tower, City of London,Westminster, >100£
07/03/2020: Fantastic food, service - perfect, all the staff have been very attentive without being intrusive. Very welcoming and friendly. We had the platter for 5 although there was only 4 of us the staff were more than happy for us to take the rest home. Have visited many times and never disappoints! It's definitely worth a visit and check out the house schnapps.
07/03/2020: Such a lovely atmosphere, staff are fantastic and the beer delicious. 100% recommend. Do recommend food to go with the stein, otherwise tipsy times will occur much faster!

The German Cafe

Shirley East, Solihull
25/01/2020: My girlfriend and I dropped into the German cafe today . I had been going there for years , when the staff dressed in traditional costume , provided a wonderful menu and service without outstanding welcome . Today , however ,we were greeted by a young waitress who knew nothing of the food on offer and even tried to take a drinks order before we d seen the menu. Two items of food and one drink wasn’t even available, so we left . What a shame a previously outstanding establishment has now dropped to somewhere not even worthy of a visit or a non alcoholic beer , which was on the menu and now shockingly non existent.
15/12/2019: We have been coming here for a while and have always enjoyed it. Great menu, including for the vegetarian in our family. A great mix of German and English choices and great value. Recommend the German breakfast bun with sauerkraut and Nurnburger sausage.

Grove, Kingston upon Thames
17/04/2020: 4 of us went for dinner before a visit to the theatre on a Saturday evening and the place was very busy. We waited a little longer for the food to be served than I would have wished but, as I have already said, they were very busy and we made it to the theatre on time. There were larger groups and family groups dining as well as couples and groups of friends.Having had a number of meals in Germany, this is what I would regard as a typical menu with many of may favourite German dishes. The Knuckle of pork was excellent and the schnitzel looked very good and was recommended by a diner on a table close to us. The portions were substantial. I don't think I could have managed three courses. Indeed I struggled to finish the main course. They were happy to swap the potato dumpling that my pork knuckle was supposed to come with for bratkartoffeln. There is a good beer menu with German beers (including weissbier) and there is a wine menu as well. The staff were helpful and friendly.I hope they will still be there once the country opens up for business again as I would certainly return. Probably better to book especially on a Saturday night.
01/03/2020: We went here for a family anniversary . They had hired the top floor . The service was AMAZING we had a lovely waitress called Claudia who worked so hard to make sure we had food and drinks all evening . This was our first visit but definitely will not be our last visit

St Leonard's, Chesterfield
16/03/2020: Visit on a regular basis and always take our out of town friends and family here, and they are always pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and the large selection of European beers. Great atmosphere with friendly staff with prices very reasonable.
10/03/2020: Einstein's has a lovely atmosphere, staff are friendly, lovely surroundings, with a great choice of beers, etc.

Twickenham Riverside, Richmond upon Thames, 20-30£
15/03/2020: Very good authentic German food, nice cold German beer, vegetarian and vegan options available, good environment, we have been there few times and always come back during Summer.
21/02/2020: Good on a summers day for a small taste of Germany by the Thames

Octoberfest Pub London

Town, Hammersmith and Fulham, <20£
05/04/2020: I pre-ordered it on Uber Eats last Saturday and it was delivered exactly at the time I requested. Schweinshaxe (pork knuckle) was popping hot and as delicious as I always had at the pub. I am sure this is the best place to order this dish in London. Although the sausages were not the cheese ones I ordered, they were still super yummy so I didn’t report to the restaurant. We are very lucky to live nearby the restaurant. I want say thank you to the team for providing delivery service during this difficult time. I will order it again very soon! Stay safe!
01/03/2020: Top Service to watch the german Bundesliga! Ask for showing the Schalke match and they put it on a extra screen for us. Decend Beers!

German Doner Kebab

Abbey, Reading
27/06/2020: Ordered through Uber Eats. Food arrived last and was freezing cold. The cold chips has 12 chips in each portion. The chicken / beef kebab boxes had no beef in them. The sauce and extra jalapeños we ordered were also missing. The only thing the food was fit for was the bin.
02/04/2020: Visited in late February, after meaning to try German Doner for a long time.It was fairly quiet, with an ample crew of staff at work in the open-plan kitchen. But I had a long wait, since apparently there was some issue with the beef. My order was for a Doner Lahmacun wrap. Manzar, the tall guy at the till with a sort of golf hat perched on his head, asked me if I wanted extra meat, so I agreed. The basic wrap meal was £7.99 with fries and a drink, and with the extra meat I paid about £9.50. When I finally received my food, I was disappointed it was lukewarm. Maybe it’s supposed to be like that? No expert on lahmacun, but was surprised to see no mince on the wrap. Instead, I got all doner meat, in a plain wrap. Don’t know whether they’d made a mistake, or the “problem with the beef” had caused the difference. (Not told about the beef problem till I’d been waiting quite a while or would’ve ordered something different.) Anyway, I didn’t mind the change, because I enjoy most food. And I must say it turned out a properly enjoyable meal. The wrap was rolled so it looked almost like a burrito. Inside, the salad was well-proportioned to the meat–not the case in some doner wraps, where you have to dig through a slop heap of foliage and sauce for the shavings. This meat was mild flavoured and thankfully lacked that sordid undertaste you get in bad doner kebabs. The meal came with three little tubs of sauce: garlic, yogurt, and spicy–all good. This method’s preferable to server-added sauce, which can be elbow-out random. The small portion of fries was the perfect size to go with the wrap.I could detect the German ownership of this chain in the décor. This branch is housed in a spacious double unit which extends deeply back from Friar Street, colour schemed in a slick combination of orange and black. The stylish black metal chairs and tables are kept spotless, as is the orange-and-black flooring. A huge photo of the Brandenburg Gate covers one wall. Long orange cords hang from the ceiling holding Scandinavian-style copper-wire lanterns. The floorplan’s cleverly designed, with some dividers to provide semi-privacy. It’s a pleasant place to eat, unlike many takeaway joints whose seating areas, such as they are, feel like bus-station waiting rooms, discouraging you from eating in. You could eat at German Doner Kebab with a group of friends or family and enjoy a restaurant-style experience. Clientele the night I went was pleasantly diverse, including two British men in their 50s in the company of a tall East Asian lad half their age; and a French guy with a Japanese lady. The staff were a mixed bunch too: a lady with a headscarf; an East Asian chef; a blond European lady; Manzar, lording it over them in his golf hat. I wish them all the best in trying to survive the present COVID-19 crisis, which must be nightmarish in every way.

German Doner Kebab

Milton, Southend-on-Sea
22/05/2020: I ordered food and need to change the address on the order and got told to call back in 10 minutes I done that and they had let my order go out!! I had to pay a extra £4 for my food to be delivered! I spoke to the manager and she was VERY RUDE!! I will not be ordering from here again!!
12/04/2020: I have got to say the lady who works there, blonde around 20s honestly made my night the over day. Went an extra mile to make sure I wouldn’t have too wait too long for my food as I walked in for a take away. She is so lovely! And the top service I’ve ever received from a food establishment. That girl needs a pay rise!
