Café BurgSchneider in County Durham

This is a lovely cafe. A small menu but everything is first rate. The cakes are absolutely awesome. Really good coffee. The owner is really friendly and you feel very welcome. Looking forward to coming in the summer and being able to sit outside.

A charming little coffee shop in the entrance of a medieval castle, what's not to like! Freshly homemade cakes are excellent, lovely coffees, hot soup on a cold day and a fire in the grate. To top this off the owner is lovely and friendly, definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and in need of refreshment. Tie it into a visit of the castle or look around the ancient and newly restored church next door both well worth a visit too.

What a delight - All home made food and the cafe is run by one of the castle family - the young lady is lovely and a fantastic baker - our visit made our holiday.

Just inside the Brancepeth Castle gatehouse, this is a charming place for a pastry and coffee or tea, or a bowl or soup. The owner is also a clothing designer, so you could order a bespoke dress witih your snack!

A lovely quiet and unique cafe in Brancepeth Castle Gate. Delicious home made cakes by the wonderful and welcoming hostess. Would highly recommend the cherry and chocolate cake today, light, moist and scrumptious. So enjoyable and very friendly! Also beautiful handmade garments to view.

We couldn't decide between the amazing options so had one of everything. The white chocolate cheesecake was to good to share, so I had to go back for another slice! I really enjoyed taking a coffee break in such a tranquil setting of the castle. It made it memorable too! They also have lunch options, my husband said the soup was good... I just ate cake!
