A cosy and friendly little pub with a roaring fire - perfect for a winter's day. It's very dog friendly (Elvis appreciated roasting himself by the fire, as you can see). We had coffee and hot chocolate and all the trimmings (you can also order it with Baileys) served by the friendly and helpful staff. There is a bakery in the other half of the pub (and accommodation upstairs). If you want a slice of traditional Dales' hospitality, visit this old English pub in the sweet village of Austwick - it's wonderful.

An exquisite evening a la carte meal. The food was plentiful, full of taste and so well presented. Served by knowledgeable and very friendly staff we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and enjoyed the added treats too. Backed up by a very nice drinks list with a pint of the local Hetton Pale Ale at its best, what's not to like? We celebrated a big birthday last year at Raffles (Singapore) and this overall experience was much better, and considerably cheaper! Well done all...look forward to our return in September.

We recently stayed here recently ( see separate review about accommodation) and ate in the Brasserie one evening . The decor is bright and the restaurant was warm & cosy. Wines were priced reasonably. The food was very good. The trout starter as well as the squid starter were cooked to perfection and each flavour could be identified. Both our mains were also excellent. Both the Cod and the lamb were tender and delicious and both served with the creamiest mash and a good selection of vegetables that complemented the dishes perfectly. The white chocolate was ok , the texture was very good but I felt it lacked any white chocolate flavour . The rhubarb crumble though was sensational . We had a very enjoyable meal and we were well looked after by the relatively young but very professional team who were well presented, friendly and a credit to the Devonshire Arms. Well done!
