The Grumpy Mole - Brockham

Brockham, Betchworth and Buckland, Mole Valley
05/06/2019: Incredible food and always great welcome ..dog allowed in bar area which is great ....best Sunday lunch around
05/06/2019: This was our daughters choice for her birthday lunch. Good parking, warm welcome, restaurant very busy, had to ask for drinks order to be placed, menus arrived we took rather too long to choose, orders taken food arrived in an acceptable wait. I had the chocken which was lovely, my husband had the chicken burger, which I thought to be expensive, all served hot and with a smile, omg the dessert choice was great I Had so many dilemmas, went for bread and butter pudding, disappointed, it should be served as a square, also too perfect, this dessert is quite a rustic dish, it was fine but!! I had heard so many positive comments about this chain, sadly not for me.

Mullins Coffee Shop

08/06/2019: I decided that as I think it is highly unlikely I could ever give a 5, but give my best a 4 that I would show you a more specific score.

The Red Lion

Brockham, Betchworth and Buckland, Mole Valley
14/06/2019: Went here for a birthday meal and drinks with friends. The meal was probably one of the best pub meals I have ever had and the service could not have been better. Drinks with friends was lovely with some very tasty complementary snacks. We stayed overnight in a comfy well priced room.
14/06/2019: Although the food was good, the lunch menu on the website wasn’t available. The price had increased by £2 and the salmon wasn’t on the new menu. My friend is disabled and had made a special effort to get there for that menu. Apparently the menu changed in February and it’s now June!

Allsaints, Leatherhead

Bookham North, Mole Valley
04/04/2019: Here's a quiet place to come for a bite to eat. The coronation chicken paninis were pretty good - shame there was no brown, or wholemeal bread. Tea was in rather lovely teapots seated on top of cups. And service was fine.
09/03/2019: Wow!!!!! Such a lovely and peaceful place and delicious coffee at the same time. Staff are great and attentive. Would recommend this place to anyone who needs to escape the hectic 9/5. Was dubious about the food offering, no need as the panini’s although limited were delicious. Will be back soon.

The Cock Inn

Box Hill and Headley, Mole Valley
16/06/2019: This pub is located in a beautiful part of the Surrey countryside. We arrived and were very happy with the decor and vibe of the pub. The seating locations were very nice indeed and the service was first class. Our waitress, Harriet, was so nice and provided great service with valuable input/suggestions on various items on the menu.
01/06/2019: We dined at the Cock Inn as a family of four to celebrate a birthday. We wanted two things; tasty pub food and a place with atmosphere but which we could hold a conversation in. We got neither.

Leatherhead South, Mole Valley
01/04/2019: amazing fry-up, amazing prices, and fantastic large portions. the ladies who worked there were really friendly, and very helpful. i will definitely be going back if i am in the area again.
02/01/2019: Regularly visit this cafe and did so again over Christmas. Staff always very friendly (the owner Rose does loads for the local community by welcoming in members of the local blind school and looking after them). The food is always superb and the menu covers everything! Great value for money and always feels like a welcoming place. Love it here.

Royal Oak

Holmwoods, Mole Valley, <20£
28/05/2019: Our walking group had lunch there last Friday after a couple of visits in the past. As usual we were pleased with our local choice. Lunches were good value and excellent. Shame we chose beforehand as would have had one of the crab dishes from daily specials. Should really visit a bit more often.
22/04/2019: We saw the sign from the main road on our way up to Birmingham. We were a bit early but warmly welcomed anyway! The food was delicious, excellent value and freshly prepared. Would highly recommend it- just wish it was nearer home! Thank you!

The Dorking Deli

Dorking North, Mole Valley
29/03/2019: Popped in for a coffee and something to eat; we liked the fact that the menu provided a lot of healthy food choices. Coffee was excellent and from a local roasting house. Eco friendly- Water cups made from recyclable material. Ambiance was relaxed. It’s located down one end of the high street and we parked at Waitrose and walked down.
25/03/2019: We were recently visiting Dorking for the antique shops. Dorking gives the impression of being one of the affluent Surrey towns. But it was surprisingly short on decent lunch venues, let alone dog friendly ones. We had a place in mind we'd seen on the internet which looked quite traditional and seemed to take dogs. But thankfully the other half walked a few extra yards down the street on stumbled on Dorking Deli. There was a table free and dogs were allowed indoors so we went for it. The interior isn't huge but big enough that it has a buzzy atmosphere on a Saturday lunch, busy with visitors and locals. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Coffee was excellent. And the food was really good. I went for the falafel sandwich with halloumi. If I'm being hyper-critical, the texture of the falafel was more like a veggie burger but the taste was superb. And the portions weren't small. Excellent choice, whether you have a pooch or not.

The Plough

Leatherhead North, Mole Valley
09/06/2019: Went here for lunch with a former work colleague. We started with a drink in the pub where the staff were very friendly. We moved into the Thai restaurant for lunch and found the staff there just as friendly and efficient. The facility was to a very high standard and we could have eaten our food in the pub, in the garden or as we did, in the restaurant. I have to say the food wasn't the best Thai I have, but was OK.
07/06/2019: I absolutely LOVE this restaurant. So much so I genuinely feel it’s worth the 40min drive from where we live to eat there! Staff are lovely and attentive and the food is reliably excellent. Nice outdoor beer garden at the back and ample parking. Could not recommend more highly!

Handley's Delicatessen

Ashtead Village, Mole Valley
09/05/2019: I recently visisted Handleys with my daughter and baby grandson. The proprieters couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We had sandwiches which were deliciuos and excellent value. I thoughly recommend it.
17/04/2019: What a little diamond this cafe is. Staff are friendly and efficient. Place is immaculately clean. Wifi available and best of all the coffee is fantastic and the almond croissants are so good. We stopped by every morning during our visit to Ashtead. Handley’s has a great atmosphere - we looked forward to going every morning. Definitely the best coffee we’ve had in the UK and now I’ve had it - Canadian coffee is second best.
