19/06/2018: We got a last minute table thanks to our host at the local B&B.; The food was delicious a nice mix of the expected and some interesting alternatives so something for everyone. The beer was praised by hubby which takes some doing!!
11/06/2018: Had a lovely birthday lunch with my work colleagues. Our waitress was lovely and attentive. Our ploughman's lunches were super and puddings divine. You have to book, which says a lot! Will definitely be going back again and I keep on recommending too.

Mullins Coffee Shop

Dorking North, Mole Valley
18/06/2018: This is one of those charming finds that only seem to be in towns like Dorking where small independent traders abound. Wonderful welcome, great hone made cakes and such a fantastic historic setting. The only house left of someone who with his family sailed on...
17/06/2018: We popped in for a coffee and cake and so pleased we did! The staff were so friendly and welcoming and the chocolate cake was amazing - the best cake I've had in a long time. Looking forward to returning to try the other cakes...

The Cock Inn

Box Hill and Headley, Mole Valley
14/06/2018: We hadn’t planned where to have lunch but happened to drive past and thought this place looked interesting, whilst on a quick visit to Surrey from Dorset.
05/06/2018: My family & I ate at the Cock for the first time. We were greeted by a lady who was helpful. We went there as we noticed online that they had an extensive gluten free menu for me. I chose prawns to start & burger for my main as it said that said it came with a gluten free seeded bun. Since being gluten intolerant I haven’t been offered a gluten free burger meal so was looking forward to my meal. The prawns came but were translucent & didn’t look appetising at all so sent them back & asked if they could be cooked until they were pink. The second lot arrived but were still translucent but this time covered in chilli sauce that had been omitted the first time. Still couldn’t eat them but they did offer for me to choose something else. The main meal arrived omitting the seeded bun with the burger sitting on a lettuce leaf. When I queried this the waiter said there’d been a menu change & the lettuce was the bun & ran off. The price was still the same though, there hadn’t been a price change there. I asked for a cappuccino with soya milk after but the waitress said she wasn’t sure if they had soya milk & didn’t come back to let us know. My daughter had a vegetarian pie main meal which came with cabbage & gravy & a little can of chips. Chips & gravy?!? All in all nice decor, liked the pub but didn’t like the food.

Royal Oak

Holmwoods, Mole Valley, <20£
26/05/2018: We popped in for lunch. Great menu. The couple who run this pub are so friendly & lovely, it’s like home from home. Ploughman’s was delicious. Recommended to all.
07/04/2018: We drive past this pub a lot & always notice different things advertised. Saturday breakfast 10am till 2pm. Great location with good parking facilities. On arrival well kept & very pretty, inside spacious & very clean. The couple running the pub were very friendly &...

Dorking North, Mole Valley, 20-30£
30/05/2018: This place is not going to rock you off your feet. But they do everything well. The decor is functional, the style modern. But the food and wines are solid, and the service very good. The night we visited was immediately after a public holiday,...
11/05/2018: It was a jazz evening so service was very slow, but the manager did apologise a number of times for the delay. One word of advice DO NOT order the veal escalope!! It’s wrapped in some sort of ham with a very sweet sauce. The...

The Half Moon

Charlwood, Mole Valley, <20£
21/06/2018: We visited by chance because we were staying in a hotel down the road where the food didn’t look very good. We were very pleased to find this place. Lovely home cooked food and nice drinks selection too. I had the broccoli and spinach soup for starter and then the Wexford chicken for main. My husband had the fish and chips. Everything was lovely and home made.
19/06/2018: very attentive service, and the food is always tasty, also nice to have a menu that changes every so often

British Raj

Beare Green, Mole Valley
01/05/2018: Excellent food third time used all in just eat app easy to book always served hot and delivered in excellent time
22/04/2018: We have recently moved into the area, and have tried several local curry houses for takeaways, only to be bitterly disappointed. This was not the case when we ordered from the British Raj in Dorking/Capel. The food arrived on time and piping hot. The ingredients were freshly cooked and of good quality. The food across the order was well spiced and the flavour delicious. Thank you British Raj especially Adam for the quick delivery.

Cote Brasserie - Dorking

Dorking North, Mole Valley, 20-30£
19/06/2018: Excellent in every which way. Warm and welcoming staff, all very professional .. made for a very pleasant evening. Food delicious and well presented and excellent value for money. Will be going back!
19/06/2018: The food was amazing. Great ambience and service. However, the toilets were rundown and not that clean. A real contrast from the restaurant area which was gorgeous.

King William IV

Mickleham, Westhumble and Pixham, Mole Valley, 20-30£
16/06/2018: Over the years the standard of both the food and the welcome at this pub has yo-yo-ed. On our most recent visit the welcome was warm enough, and the service was reasonably efficient and obliging. But the food seemed to be on the way down...
11/06/2018: Went for a good yomp round the hills of Box Hill and other lumps on the horizon. Our route took us past the King William IV and what a gorgeous pub and garden to dine at. This pub is half way up a steep climb...

Ashtead Charcoal Grill

Ashtead Park, Mole Valley
19/06/2018: This is your straight forward no frills Kebab shop. Only Donner on the stick but some tasty meat pieces waiting for to be cooked. A lamb or a chicken one would expect to grace the stick for a change but this is,.. stick to the beaten track. Staff friendly and helpful overall looks clean and well presented.
19/06/2018: I enjoyed my kebab from here. The meat was lovely. My only criticism is they onion in the salad was far too chunky. It spoilt it. It should be fine like your lettuce.

The Old House

Dorking South, Mole Valley, >100£
08/06/2018: Quite a long wait for the food. When it arrived my fish smelt very potent like it had gone off. It carried a foul taste and not to mention the soggy batter. Probably the worst fish and chips I have ever had. I wouldn't eat...
03/06/2018: Popped onto the Old House on Friday evening (2nd June), to find the pub setting up for 'music' which was due to start at 9pm.. We had to be away before 7.45, and as we arrived at 6.40, I was doubting if food would be...

Mogul Dynasty

Ashtead Village, Mole Valley
20/06/2018: I took my visiting relatives hoping for the usual prompt and courteous service . On this occasion it was awful. Our waiter rushed us from the off . He asked if we wanted wine and when we said yes he pushed us to say whether we wanted red or white wine . I said I'd like a glass of white wine as an aperitif but my sister & her husband had already expressed a preference for red wine. Before we had time to look at a wine list the waiter had disappeared then returned with a bottle of their House red wine. He'd also asked if we'd like some Poppadoms and aggressively quizzed us on how many . We said we'd like one each. I eventually got my glass of white wine after repeatedly requesting it but no Poppadoms arrived . Meanwhile the table next to us became occupied and shortly after they'd sat down they were served with Poppadoms. After about 20 minutes we asked where our Poppadoms were and instead of admitting that they had forgotten about them the waiter made excuses and then just dumped them on our table saying that the restaurant was very busy . Another 25 minutes passed and I asked what had happened to our food order as we were now very hungry and had been in the restaurant almost an hour already .The waiter and manager argued with me telling me that the food was all made fresh . The meal, when it finally arrived , was excellent . But the attitude of the staff had already spoilt my evening . I was really disappointed by the whole experience as I had been so looking forward to the evening . i am a local ( I had taken other guests there just 2 weeks ago and with a different waiter we had a nice time ) and I would dine there much more often if I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable for simply speaking up when service is below par.
19/06/2018: We often eat in the Mogul Dynasty and we always get an excellent meal. The service is excellent the place is clean (with a 5 star rating from the local council), I am sure there is no better curry house in the country.
