The Green Man

Bassingham and Brant Broughton, North Kesteven
15/07/2019: Friends and neighbours have been singing the praises of The Green Man so when family visited decided we would try it. One of my relatives was head chef at a local hotel and was very satisfied with the food. I had the best Green Thai curry ever, as good as top end Thai Restaurants. Friendly efficient service and adequate menu. Would definitely recommend.
14/07/2019: I was dining with a friend who had not eaten there before. We both had the most delicious roasted cod served with chorizo smoked paprika vegetables and served on a bed of wilted spinach. Absolutely delicious a memorable meal, my friend was very impressed. The puddings we had were lemon tart and rum and raisin bread and butter pudding. Even though my friend arrived 45 minutes late we were accommodated even though they had large parties in,. The staff as usual were friendly and helpful. Will be back again very soon. Thank you to all the team.

18/06/2019: Hotel is great and the food is exceptionally good. The prices compare very well with good restaurants elsewhere so well worth a visit. Special mention for the wonderful restaurant manager Rob who really makes the experience special. Go soon!!!

I asked if the chef was able to cook me some chilli prawns (not on the menu ) and this was no trouble at all , they came out and I can def say I have never tasted prawns like it , they were amazing ... recommend from start to finish , thank you for a great night , fantastic service and food to die for .

The Bustard Inn & Restaurant

Leasingham and Rauceby, North Kesteven, >100£
12/07/2019: Me and my partner won a competition on social media for a 3 course meal and from the minute we arrived we received incredible service. Staff and Lesley herself we so polite and the food was amazing. The atmosphere was great and although we didn’t have to pay for our meal the prices were spot on for the food we received. We will definitely be visiting again.
22/06/2019: Our group of 25 had lunch last Thursday. The food from the gnocchi to the fish and chips to the sticky toffee pudding were outstanding. The staff were welcoming, friendly, efficient and professional. We visited many places in LIncolnshire that day but for many the highlight was lunch at the Bustard.

The Barge and Bottle

Sleaford Navigation, North Kesteven
18/07/2019: I have just returned from a meeting where the Barge and Bottle did the catering.
08/07/2019: Found The Barge and Bottle in Sleaford whilst visiting Family in England. It's a cozy and comfy place with laughter and smiles and great food and drinks! The staff is superb and knowledgeable about the town and it's history. A Well Lighted Place where all walks of lifestyles are welcome! Had a great chat with their combat veterans from the wars and we even bought each other drinks. A 10 out of 10! Included out back is a beer garden where you can smoke and watch the hustle and bustle of daily life. So stop by and have a meal and some drinks. I got a picture behind the bar with the owners and bartenders! Great people. In fact I even bought their very first customer when they first opened years ago a few drinks! Do yourself a favor folks and stop in because you won't regret it! Ernest Hemingway wrote the tale of A Well Lighted Place and this is it! I will definitely be back!

The Plough Inn

Billinghay, Martin and North Kyme, North Kesteven
17/07/2019: this was my second visit and we both enjoyed the food as much as before but unfortunately it was all very slow. 45 minutes to receive a starter from ordering and 35 minutes to receive two cold desserts from ordering is excessive.
01/07/2019: Myself and 3 of my friends meet up every month or so for a catch up dinner and choose a different local restaurant / pub each time. The Plough was next on our list and I couldn't wait. It's a pleasant drive away and easily found just on the corner of the main street with parking to the side of the building. The property itself is just my cup of team with a converted barn feel to it, huge windows and lovely contemporary rustic interior. Our young waitress and waiter were exceptional and made us feel very welcome with their friendly service. We all ordered the lasagne and I have to say it is probably the best lasagne I have ever eaten, and believe me I've eaten plenty of them! My friends had sticky toffee pud for dessert which they all enjoyed and I had the chocolate and raspberry torte with sorbet. It was completely devine with a beautiful velvety fruity dark chocolate flavour almost like red wine. The food was generous, beautifully presented, perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. I enjoyed it so much I'm going to book again for my husband's birthday with our daughters and can't wait to return.

Millers Bar & Restaurant

Sleaford Navigation, North Kesteven
16/07/2019: Came for a family catchup at lunchtime - the food was very nice indeed, and well presented..... simply felt the service was lacking - it was incredibly slow, with a long wait to receive starters and then from course to course, and then finally waiting for our plates to be cleared..... we were in there for just under 2 hours, which I feel is a long time for a lunch.
28/06/2019: Came here for breakfast. It cost nearly £20 for two and you don't even get a cup of tea - that would have been an extra £4.50! Oh, and if we had wanted a grilled tomato and some black pudding on our "full" English, that would have been an extra £3.60!! The beans were cold and I'm not sure who would have trained a chef to cook mushrooms (sorry, I mean mushroom, there was only one..) that way, it was like chewing on an old boot. The service was painfully slow and surly. For that inflated price we expected a lot better, very disappointing and we certainly won't bother again.

Emily's Bakehouse

Sleaford Navigation, North Kesteven
13/07/2019: I had the Scottish breakfast and it’s the best breakfast I’ve ever had out and I had a lot I’m 51 years of age. My wife had a jacket potato which was done traditionally in the oven and not microwave. So the skin was beautiful and crisp. Definitely be coming back
24/06/2019: Having recently moved to the area we stumbled on this quirky cafe. I am fascinated with the ‘rope’ lights. Our first visit was a Sunday and we just managed to find a table for two. Lots of people were there for breakfasts which smelled and looked delicious. We had scones with jam and cream. Superb! As well as being a friendly cafe with delicious food and cakes, they sell books with donations going to the air ambulance. Will become our regular stop when in Sleaford!

The Black Swan Restaurant

Bassingham and Brant Broughton, North Kesteven, 20-30£
16/07/2019: We found this delightful retaurant by accident, when trying to find a caraven park. We happened on one of the owners, who thought ha had seen a snake, but it was a long reed[or similar]. My wife booked a table for Wednesday ,10, July, and due to a combination of circumstances, we were the only patrons that evening. I started with lamb's liver, and it was the best liver I have ever had. My wife had something else, oh yes, smoked salmon. I had the chicken main, my wife duck, and both were super, especially, the small potatoes that came with them. There is a good selection of bottled beers, I had spitfire, and a very nice couple of glasses of win. Only one for dessert, finished off with coffee. Delightful people, and a lovely meal.Tahnks, Laurie and Lynda.
13/06/2019: First visit here having found it online. What a little gem of a place, felt like home ,as setting is within what is in essence a home . Greeted warmly on arrival by this family run establishment and seated for drinks in a quaint, characterful lounge. Our party of 9 had a room to ourselves and its seating capacity is small overall, so advise booking. The menu is limited to certain starters, mains and deserts, but should accommodate most diners. You can ring and check menu choice available at the time you're going . We chose various starters, mains and desserts and were all impressed with the quality, presentation and service. It's also a nice place for couples to dine , cosy and off the beaten track. All told a gem well worth visiting. !!!

Carre Arms Hotel and Restaurant

Sleaford Quarrington and Mareham, North Kesteven
26/06/2019: Had a late afternoon main course meal - fish on plate - pork on plate - other than chips not a vegetable in sight. Apparently 'they are extra ! ' we are in Sleaford - in a veg growing county come on not even a pea on the plate - ' everything ok for you ' wasn't asked - I'm a local & this Hotel has really gone down in my estimation - won't be rushing back again ...
23/06/2019: The purpose of our visit was to meet up with family and found Sleaford to be half way between North Yorkshire and Norfolk where we were traveling from. Having checked out previous reviews on the Carre Arms we were definitely not left disappointed. We had a superb Sunday roast, followed by gorgeous desserts. The waiting staff were extremely pleasant, efficient and very friendly. I am currently in a wheelchair following an operation and found it to be perfect for disabled access and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. I can definitely recommend this gem of a place. Thank you to all at the Carre Arms Hotel.
