We booked for 4 nights bed and breakfast and had the Churchill Suite. On arrival we were shown our room and told we had a fan! The suite is large but partially underground which we knew about before we booked so we’re not put off by it and adequate lighting in the room made up for the lack of natural light. There are two built in wardrobes a large bed and lovely bathroom. The soft furnishings are all beautiful. The “little touches of indulgences’ were disappointing they consisted of ghastly biscoff biscuits you usually get at cafes with a cup of coffee not the homemade shortbread we were expecting. Complimentary bottles of water and toiletries mainly in large dispensers on the wall. There are no nice touches in the room just furniture. If you sit on the sofa with a drink one person has to put their cup on the floor, as there is not side table. The room was clean apart from cobwebs hanging from wall lights and a horrid mark on the wall in the bathroom by the toilet……. On our third day we arrived back to the hotel around 5pm only to find our room had not been serviced! My partner went to reception to let them know and they told him we must have left the do not disturb notice out! Which we did not……. Anyway they rallied round and gave us a full set of clean towels and clean mugs etc. which was good of them but left us asking is this really a four star hotel? The breakfast is wonderful the tables laid out very nicely everything cooked is to order and served at your table. We had a dinner one night in the restaurant and it was a true delight the food and wine all good and the service was great apart from one young girl took our bread basket and bread plates away whilst we were still enjoying it……. We never made a fuss at the time.. We put it down to nerves……… On our last day we went down to breakfast having not been able to get to sleep because of stomping in the function room above. There seemed to be a large business group arrived the day before. They were all in the breakfast room which was full and we ordered our cooked breakfast my partner had his usual full English and I asked for scrambled egg mushroom and Rosti It arrived all of it over cooked and no rosti. I said to the waitress not to worry but she said no I will go and get it. It arrived 10 minutes later….. by then we had finished what we could eat from the burnt breakfast and left. Very disappointed again. We used the bar area every evening and ordered bar snacks and drinks the first night we were there was great but the other nights we had to go and search for someone each time we wanted a drink or something. We felt a little bewildered by it all as the reviews and the website seemed to give a much different picture in our heads than what we experienced. We always choose four and five star hotels when we go away but to us this one felt below par. I think in the future we will not choose a hotel that is used as a function space as any individuality seemed to be missing. It’s a shame that we unfortunately experienced several mishaps during what could have been a memorable experience.

Both Dinner and Breakfast at Washingborough Hall is certainly a delight. Lets start with dinner, excellent small menu choice which is well presented, good quality ingredients and tasty in a very relaxed atmosphere, we loved the table setting with excellent service from the staff. Breakfast is as good, again with lots of choice and if you want a cooked breakfast is is made to order, the service from the two serving staff was again excellent they could not do enough for us.

When celebrating our 24 year anniversary there was only one place as special as the event itself, Washingborough Hall. There are simply not enough words to describe the outstanding quality of the service from booking, greeting and throughout the entire meal. The ambience of the dining room is exquisite, refined yet warm and welcoming.. truly special, surpassed only by the phenomenal food. Head Chef Mark Cheseldine continues to excel with every dish.. we chose the scotch egg from the specials starters menu, beef Wellington and finished with the amaretto & lemon pear frangipane. Every dish was simply stunning and mouthwatering! My only regret is that I didn’t take any photos so you could all see just how impressive the food is. This is our favourite restaurant absolutely every time we come, it surpasses itself and we say again that it was the best meal we ever had. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Thanks again Mark and team, see you again in 3 weeks when we are booked in again with our friends.

The outstanding customer service started a week before our booking! I contacted the restaurant to ask if they would be able to prepare a main course dish that was not on the menu. They were so helpful! Not only was the chef able to accommodate, but also offered to prepare my favourite dish being beef Wellington. On the day of the meal, the hotel telephoned to ask if my husband would also like to have the beef Wellington as well. I’ve never known such outstanding customer service.. we felt incredibly special from the outset. The entire experience on the evening was phenomenal! The service could not have been more attentive and the dining room itself .. beautiful, just stunning. The food is the pièce de résistance .. this was without doubt the best meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant, not just locally but anywhere. I started with the ‘Parsnip & Thyme Velouté, Lardo & Warm Soda’ which was absolutely delicious. Then came the main, the beef Wellington with truffle mash and jus which was just stunning. The presentation was a work of art, and the taste and flavours were just divine. This is my favourite dish and I have ordered it in many restaurants around the world over the years, none have compared to Washingborough Hall. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. This is not just a meal out, this is a dining and culinary experience you will not forget.

We went to Washingborourgh Hall Hotel for an afternoon tea. It was a Thank you gift. We were greeted very welcoming and shown to our table. The decor of the room was smart and classical in style. The tables were all set with cloth table cloths and linen napkins The China tea cups and tea plates were lovely and all different from each other, even the saucers and cups. It was charming. The menu was very detailed . Perhaps a bit crammed in ? We chose our loose leaf tea first, then the waitress Amelia who had been very friendly went off to get our tea. The food was as pretty as a picture. We started at the bottom tier with the small appetizers. The sandwich fingers were full with with a slight twist on the usual fillings. The trout, cress and creme fraiche was delicious. The blue cheese and walnut ones were perhaps a bit too different for my elderly father, but my mum loved them. There were a further two fillings. The small cakes and Tiny tart were a treat The scones were among the best I have had. The jam and clotted cream soon disappeared but there was plenty for all of us. We took home what we couldn't eat then. Instead of a horrible plastic tub we took them home in a eco friendly brown bag.

I ate on the 10th March. I was welcomed by the staff as I approached the restaurant. I chose to take my table rather than sitting in the lounge beforehand. The ambience of the restaurant is lovely and unfortunately the guidance to ‘dress up’ was not followed although no one was scruffy! I wore my second choice but I would not have felt uncomfortable had I wore my ‘Posh Frock’. I would suggest diners dress up but I’m old fashioned. I had salmon starter and it was light and delicious. Venison for mains was cooked to perfection and the pasta was an unusual touch but worked. The separate root vegetables were lovely but one jumped onto the table so sorry for the mess. Cheesecake for pudding was again light and a touch of rhubarb added to the texture. I ordered a white wine for starter and a Merlot for the venison, alas the merlot didn’t arrive but the young waiter who took the order seemed new. When I reminded a young girl of the order it was quickly rectified. This did not distract to a wonderful meal. We all have to learn and I made mistakes at that age as we all do. I’ll definitely return.

This place never fails to impress. We took my parents & uncle with his guide dog for Sunday lunch. All of us thought the food was amazing; sirloin of beef which 3 of us had was outstanding whilst my uncle loved the blade of beef. The desserts every bit as good too. I'd also like to say how welcoming & professional the staff are. From the lady that took my booking who said how welcome the guide dog would be, to the lovely man who is always front of house, to the waiting staff they were first class. I've tried Sunday lunch at many places in the Lincoln area but I don't think there is anywhere better than Washingborough Hall.

We had booked Afternoon Tea at 12.30pm (most hotels do not commence Afternoon Tea service until much later, so to start service @ 12-noon is great) but unfortunately we were half-an-hour late, as our stupid Sat Nav continually directed us to the eastern by-pass around Lincoln, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN BUILT YET. However, the reception staff at the hotel were not in any way put out and could not have been more understanding, warm and welcoming. We were escorted to our table - YAAAY, spotless white tablecloths and linen napkins! - in a beautiful, warm room, overlooking the extensive gardens. The building itself is lovely: big enough to look 'special' but not so large as to appear impersonal or intimidating. The decor is traditional but quite light and airy and although I could possibly say that I have had a slightly better afternoon tea elsewhere, the afternoon tea was still very good and I could not gush enough about the service from all the waiters, waitress and reception staff - quite outstanding and absolutely faultless - friendly, smiling, polite without being obsequious, even better than the service at The Dorchester in Park Lane, Central London, which has always been my yardstick.Everywhere was spotlessly clean (without being clinical) and the ladies toilets were also luxurious and beautifully decorated.Overall an extraordinarily noteworthy occasion and although I am somewhat too long in the tooth to get married again and my 21st birthday is lost in the dim and distant mists of time, this is EXACTLY the venue I would choose to celebrate either or both of those events. Very highly recommended and my heartfelt thanks to all the staff for doing a fantastic job.

We have been to this fantastic Dining Room twice in 6 weeks. The first experience was sublime and we could not believe the superb level of service or the exquisite selection of edible comestibles. Top that with a wine list that offers great variety, affordability and unusual wines and you have a winning combination. Most notably though, if you like bittersweet chocolate souffles for dessert then this is the place for you. On our first visit they were the best I have ever tasted world wide (a very bold statement), the second visit proved it was not a fluke, they were just as eye poppingly good. It's a great place that makes you want to go back to relax and enjoy. On our second visit we ate in the Bar area because we took our well behaved Flat Coated Retriever Dogs. When we arrived they remembered what I had said and staff knew the menu well enough to be able to say that I was fine with my food choices. Every course had about 4 options and all sounded wonderful. However the initial starter was the most light Cheese and Chive soufflé, it was slight warm and totally delicious. the sandwich filling were equally lovely especially the chicken, lemon and basil mayonnaise, certainly a filling i will be using at home. I also don't drink tea or coffee so was offered an option of a glass of prosecco, who could say no! the little cakes were certainly well received by my husband who certainly does have a sweet tooth. Rhubarb baleful tarts, Passionfruit Macaroons , Chocolate and lime eclairs and a Salted Caramel Brownie. Of course there were the obligatory scones with Cream and Jam, but my only slight disappointment was that the clotted cream didn't have the usual sticky crusty edge that only clotted cream has. I must stress that this did not distract from the overall effect. The staff were so helpful and chatty and the entire experience was excellent

The afternoon tea was excellent. Only reason could not give 5* was service errors such as tea with no milk provided and had to leave table to find someone to get it. The hotel is set in lovely grounds and is somewhere I would stay and use again.

The passion of Lacy made the whole difference . It started with the warm welcoming staff the minute we parked our Morgan. Followed by the one and only Gin Tonic with orange zest and a leaf of thyme . The Ceviche of crab, the beef ,the trout , the passion fruit soufflé ... it was a symphony. We recommend it blindly , we will for sure come again and again.

Went to this beautiful hotel for a pre booked sunday lunch and from the minute i arrived the staff were friendly always smiling willing to help and all dressed very smart. We were seated near the restaurant where we ordered drinks were given the menu to order from and then seated where upon your starters were brought out and I was not disappointed I had beetroot with goats cheese could easily have licked the plate. Mains were slow cooked beef with plenty of vegetables again so nice and seasoned well. Had the cheese board to finish. I must admit this is one of the best meals I have ever had. So compliments to the hard working chefs well done. Throughout the meal the staff made you feel special and nothing was a problem. They were all very professional and all knew what they were doing so again well done and many thanks. Cannot wait to come and visit again

Excellent meal. Service outstanding - from everyone we came into contact with - professional but comfortable. Soufflé starters were perfect. We would both have given our respective mains 4/5 - a suet pudding and a butternut squash gnocchi - nothing wrong with either but not...

Have just spent a wonderful couple of hours having lunch with family at this rather special place. The staff are attentive but not overly so, they look after you very well. The food is delicious, the portions are more than enough, the wine and drinks are superb. The Hall was beautifully decorated for the festive season.I would recommend this hotel very highly. It is worth it just for the relaxing atmosphere.

The wedding breakfast was exceptional. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. Then - next morning - a robust and restorative full English breakfast for the bleary-eyed wedding guests. It was all deeply impressive.

Yet another visit to this fantastic pub. The lunchtime baguettes are amazing and great value for money. The only issue I have is with the guy complaining about his steak as the George has not had steak on the menu for quite some time. My advice is to ignore that review and try the pub for yourself, it's brilliant.
