Koinonia Restaurant

Castle, Newark and Sherwood, >100£
10/12/2018: Not one thing wrong with this restaurant. Food always good and staff very friendly. You must try the dosa.
09/12/2018: Tucked away down a side street in Newark is one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. The staff were very friendly the food when it arrived was out of this world we had a variety of starters and mains all were excellent this is a restaurant that should not be missed

Hay Barn Cafe

Caunton, Newark and Sherwood, <20£
14/12/2018: Lovely polite and helpful staff. Very tasty well cooked food arrived in a reasonably short time. The cakes and desserts available were numerous and all looked great the ones Dad and I had tasted very good. It is now on Dad's list of quality places to eat (= to a michelin star) we will be going again.
29/11/2018: Food was excellent, portion sizes are large, cake was amazing! Coffee brilliant. Super find! Great stop off!! Will definitely be back!!

The Lion at Farnsfield

Farnsfield and Bilsthorpe, Newark and Sherwood
30/12/2018: We came as a family this weekend and what can I say, absolutely amazing, we got a warm welcome on arrival, service was impeccable all members of staff were always on hand to answer any questions regarding the menu (or the abstract art on the walls). The meat was cooked perfectly and chocolate orange brownie was to die for. Our waitress Rose was lovely and kind and always had a smile on her face. We will be back very soon
29/12/2018: Arrived 15 minutes early for our Sunday booking and so was directed to wait in the bar.

The Old Plough Inn

Caunton, Newark and Sherwood, 20-30£
30/11/2018: I am not a negative review kind of girl, would rather not leave a review at all. My husband absolutely loved his main of lamb, I think I simply made the wrong choice - my fish was cooked lovely but everything that went with it I found a bit bland. It also took nearly 50 mins to arrive. But I'm guessing Something went wrong in the kitchen with our order because other people were served in a timely manner. The reason I'm giving it five stars is because it is such a beautiful little pub, they are trying very hard and the lemon cheesecake I had to finish was to die for. I also think it's important to support places that have real chefs doing real food. So we will definitely be returning at some point to try something else.
17/11/2018: Had a meal there recently with my partner's parent. The pub decor is excellent, the beer is extremely with a nice choice of ales. The menu provides a good mix of steaks and pub classics. This is good food very well cooked. I can definitely recommend their sticky toffee pudding.

The Bromley at Fiskerton

Trent, Newark and Sherwood, 20-30£
15/12/2018: It was the first visit for the four of us and we had booked for lunch after a recommendation. We were warmly welcomed by a man behind the bar then shown to our table. The whole of the pub was beautifully decorated for Christmas.Three of us had the soup, tomato and red pepper which was excellent good and wholesome. For mains two had the Mushroom Wellington very disappointing in that it had been heated in a microwave and that of course made the pastry flat and soggy. Not what we expected. We were disappointed also with the service, very unsmiling and we were made to feel it was all too much trouble. Sadly after this experience we would not visit again.
12/12/2018: I have been to the Bromley on several occasions now and have been made to feel very welcome. Very comfortable seating area to have a drink whilst perusing the varied menu.

Magnus, Newark and Sherwood
05/12/2018: Matson, wife and I visited two weeks ago. We were in town and decided to grab lunch, so walked in. Almost immediately we were sat down and presented with menus. I didn't really fancy any of the veggie options so was going to order a Panini, however the boss came over to take our drink order and suggested a couple of meals not on the menu, I opted for the veggie lasagne.
22/11/2018: Good quality food, all home made dishes and, pasta in nice surroundings. The coffee is also excellent, the dishes are very authentic and very reasonably priced.

Balderton West, Newark and Sherwood
08/12/2018: First time here and the food was amazing. We normally go to bamboo garden in southwell but this was 20 times better exceeding expectations
15/11/2018: Great Chinese takeaway food. Shame it's only takeaway but would recommend it. Also importantly well packaged to get it home.

The Bistro at Edwinstowe

Edwinstowe, Newark and Sherwood, <20£
25/12/2018: We’ve just enjoyed the very best Christmas dinner here, it was simply fabulous. The food quality, portions and value for money were excellent. Definitely recommend it if you’re nearby.
18/11/2018: Took my girlfriend here as we were staying nearby for her birthday.

Tom Browns Brasserie

Lowdham, Newark and Sherwood
01/12/2018: The place is lovely and the staff were very nice, unfortunately the Christmas Tea was not quite up to the standard I would have expected for a place like this, the sandwiches on white bread were large when should have been finger sized on thick sliced bread that was soggy on one side also the smoked salmon came out on ryvitas that looked as if they had been broken in half , also the pots of tea we had were luke warm, to be fair to the staff they changed the tea and it came back nice and hot. The afternoon tea came out on a lovely picnic table and looked very festive, but felt it was style over substance, saying this the cooked meals that came out looked beautiful , I would definitely revisit this restaurant but have the cooked meals and not the afternoon tea.
29/11/2018: First visit to Tom Browns to sample the Chateaubriand Steak and we were not disappointed! Lovely presentation, very nice food and I think we will definitely be going back for more! Very friendly and helpful staff, nice relaxed dining atmosphere, pleasant décor - what more do you need? Shared a dessert despite feeling pretty full (rude not too) and it was delicious. (Cherry & Amaretto cheesecake). Yummy!

Edwinstowe, Newark and Sherwood, 30-45£
02/01/2019: We had a birthday to celebrate and booked a party of 14 - we arrived a bit late but it was no problem - food excellent - starters and sweets were adequate portions but for the bigger eater the mains could have been a bit larger.
22/12/2018: Booked 36 in here for the office do on A Saturday night - 15 December 2019. What an excellent night! No pre-ordered menu - pick what you wanted from the menu on the night. Well how many do that? Normally you pre-order and it's all mass catering, but not here. Very impressed with that. Tables looked lovely and even had Christmas quiz cards on the table which were an ice breaker. Food great - no complaints from anyone. Live music after the meal and dancing. What more could you want!

Castle, Newark and Sherwood, 20-30£
05/11/2018: There will be many who mourn the passing away of a favourite local restaurant - the Danube! Went by today to discover that it is no more and that in it's place is going to be another place, thankfully, called "Taylor's Restaurant'.
16/10/2018: Went to Danube with friends for Saturday lunchtime. It wasn't very busy, but I hear it does get quite busy at times. The atmosphere was pleasant. The waiter was friendly and helpful. The food is very nice, and you get a really classy meal for your money.

Spread Eagle Pub & Restaurant

Caunton, Newark and Sherwood
21/11/2018: Nice place to eat, came here after the Midland Machinery Show and had a nice quick lunch, nicely finished pub, tables nice and clean, not sticky! Great food, which there was plenty of! Would return!
19/11/2018: 4th visit now to the Spreadeagle with my family we all had Sunday lunch as always great food mushroom soup for starter to die for and the main very tasty and plenty of it great value for money. Staff so warm and friendly once visited you will keep going back,Fantastic place.

The Old Red Lion

11/12/2018: Great pub. Very quaint and welcoming. Have been for sunday lunch many times, excellent and great value for money. Highly recommend.
07/11/2018: Stayed nearby for 2 nights in October and booked the Red Lion for dinner on the Thursday night.

Everest Inn Newark

06/12/2018: I visited the Everest Inn this week and was not disappointed. The food was of good quality and the staff were all attentive. I would defiantly return if I was in Newark again.
06/11/2018: Eating here was a very enjoyable experience. The service was friendly, helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. We will definitely eat here again.

The Full Moon

Trent, Newark and Sherwood, <20£
15/12/2018: We met up here with a couple of friends for an evening meal, beautifully decorated for Christmas. Good choices for vegetarians, three of us chose the mushrooms for starters which were great and two of us had the aubergine dish as the main which was excellent. Lovely open fire and friendly atmosphere.
12/12/2018: Went for evening meal with friends, overall it was ok but not outstanding
