Angelo's Bistro

Duffield, Amber Valley
19/07/2021: We had a lovely time here. Drinks in the pub before going through to the restaurant. Very good service and great food. I really enjoyed my steak which was cooked excellently.
08/07/2021: Sadly disappointed. Like a food hall with poor acoustics. Food very much mediocre. One dish very salty. Probably will not return 😣👎👎

Armando's Restaurant

Belper North, Amber Valley
23/05/2021: First time here and did not disappoint. Had the Scallops to start with, followed by fillet steak and a lobster linguine, cooked beautifully. Service was excellent with nice little touches such as bread on the table. Felt very safe with the COVID safety measures. Highly recommend.

Pesto at The Peacock

Wingfield, Amber Valley
08/05/2021: A new favourite.A first time visit and eagerly wanted a change with it being our first meal out of lockdown.Service was second to none as well as the food, well priced at £80.00 for two which we also included a £10 tip.A new local and one we will return to for sure!
05/05/2021: Had a wonderful meal here last night with friends. The food was really tasty and good value for money. Our waitress Eleanor was very friendly and really attentive. The fire lamps were also a big plus on a cold and rainy evening. Had a great time - would highly recommend.

Fox and Hounds

Kilburn, Denby and Holbrook, Amber Valley, <20£
16/05/2021: We had a great Sunday lunch takeaway today, all piping hot and cooked perfectly. The belly pork was melt in the mouth, lovely fresh veg and homemade Yorkshire pudding, tasty gravy and a side of cauliflower cheese what a treat.Thank you Tracie for fitting us in at short notice.
02/05/2021: I write this to review with hesitation do it comes in two parts. The first part is what I read on the back of the menu stating that children weren’t really welcome I was appalled to read this although it doesn’t outrightly say it they state that where them out prior it visiting. Keep them under control and much more. My family eat out at some very famous pubs, restaurants and hotel ( Michelin star ) and we have never ever been made unwelcome which the introduction to this pub made us feel. The second part the service staff and food were lovely and the weather to fit too. However I had traveled from Lancashire and receive a written welcome like this was disappointing and very upsetting so I will not be visiting again. Please re think your welcome message as most families visiting will feel the same way. You have obviously experienced bad behaviour but I can assure you that not all families are the same.

The Kedleston Country House

South West Parishes, Amber Valley
07/05/2021: We have visited Kedleston Country House on a few occasions over the last couple of years for a champagne breakfast, Sunday lunch, evening dinners and just drinks. It has always been a great pleasure from start to finish. On the last occasion we called in on a Sunday lunch/afternoon just for drinks and of course due to covid restrictions we sat out side in the very pleasant and spacious garden area. Again a very nice experience.
06/02/2021: Looking for a special way to celebrate a lockdown birthday... so pleased we decided on a takeaway fine dining experience from Kedleston House. We set the table, poured a glass of bubbly and waited for dinner to turn up! It arrived quickly, piping hot and every course was absolutely delicious! So much so that we’re going to order Sunday lunch tomorrow! Can’t wait to enjoy a meal inside this beautiful building as soon as we are able. Thank you Kedleston House!

Elaichi

Belper Central, Amber Valley
12/04/2021: Fabulous 'lockdown' take away meal from Elaichi. Really flavoursome Lamb Naga Special and Chicken Balti Shashlik, beautifully cooked, piping hot and simply delicious.Whilst waiting for my order to be cooked I enjoyed talking with Kem, one of three brothers running this family Bangladeshi restaurant and impressed that they have worked through the pandemic, resisted closing for furlough and provided a great take away service throughout lockdown to help the abnormal feel normal in extremely difficult circumstances. Great food, Great taste and great attitude.

Nutbrook Coffee Shop

Shipley Park, Horsley and Horsley Woodhouse, Amber Valley
01/06/2021: There’s a few options for morning or afternoon tea, or a light lunch, while you are spending time in Shipley Country Park. The Nutbrook Coffee Shop is by far the most pleasant of them all, and certainly serves the best coffee of them all. It’s set in picturesque surroundings. As well as a contemporary inside dining area, it has two outdoor seating areas: one is under a marquee in the garden of the cafe, and the other is across the road in front of the cafe, with suitably spaced picnic tables under huge umbrellas. On the beautiful day we visited, the outside areas were extremely busy. The cafe is just beyond the south-eastern edge of Shipley Country Park, and is a good 30 minute walk from the park’s visitor centre. It’s a bit closer from the village of Mapperley, and is a 20 minute walk along the pretty Slack Road. However, the cafe attracts a lot of walkers and cyclists, not just from Shipley Country Park but because it’s on the popular car-free Nutbrook Trail between Long Eaton and Heanor. We called in for morning tea. There were very precise social distancing measures in place; we were assigned a table, then observed a one way system to order, with food and drinks being delivered to your assigned table. It was civilised and appreciated. We had morning tea at the coffee shop. The freshly-brewed double espresso and the flat white were outstanding. The cafe actually sells a range of packs of coffee beans so it’s apparent that decent coffee beans are sourced. This was accompanied by huge freshly-baked scones. What a selection to choose from: plain, fruit, raspberry and cheese. We chose the raspberry scones. Served with jam and clotted cream, they were outstanding. The menu for a light lunch is quite comprehensive, with a wide range of soups, sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, sausage rolls and pasties. Service was charming and obliging, and we felt welcomed. It’s dog friendly (we had a dog with us), but it’s expected that you keep your pooch calm and settled. The coffee shop is worth seeking out. It’s a little gem, and it’s popularity confirms that!
18/04/2021: Very rude staff.. All staff inside had face mask exemption lanyards on but the manager admitted only one member of staff is exempt from wearing a face mask.

Bulls Head

Belper North, Amber Valley
26/04/2021: First trip back to The Bulls Head today after the lockdown and it didn't disappoint with the food. So glad they've managed to keep the same chef as before. Can't fault the food, beautiful pizza and the best chips.I'm not sure why some people are moaning about a limited menu, maybe they've forgotten that we're just coming out of a pandemic ‍♀️
25/04/2021: We visited the Bulls Head yesterday and enjoyed there gorgeous outdoor area. We all commented how nice to was to have some music playing outside as they have outdoor speakers. We all ordered pizzas which were really tasty and the salad was nice and fresh! Great drink selection and friendly staff! Will be visiting again.
