What a little gem this is tea room / coffee is, tucked out of sight at the back of a garden shop / gift / vintage / bric-a-brac/ games/ curio store, down a little laneway off Church Street in Ripley. It’s a bit off the trodden paths of Ripley, but deserves seeking out and spending a few moments here over a decent hot brew and a delectable cake. The cafe has that vintage, shabby chic, stylish junk shop feel, with its mismatched furnishings and different seating areas (table and chairs, and sofas), surrounded by odd bits of clutter and gifts for sale. It works, and looks homely and welcoming, with the feel of an old country cottage. But it pulls a punch, at extremely reasonable prices. The hot chocolate and mocha we enjoyed were excellent, and were much better than our experience at a Starbucks outlet earlier in the day! I’m not sure if coffee is barista style, though there was a good selection of the usual latte, cappuccino and Americano varieties available, as well as pots of filter coffee and speciality teas. And what an amazing array of cakes, cookies, and slices which are available for your morning or afternoon tea: rainbow cake, harvest cake, carrot cake, triple chocolate cake, chocolate brownies, and black current, fruit and granola, and rocky road slices and the like, with gluten free and vegan options available! A huge slice of rainbow cake was only £2.50. The menu is quite comprehensive, and caters for the breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon tea crowd. Breakfast and lunch items are fairly simple fare, such as beans and scrambled eggs on toast, jacket potatoes, and a good selection of sandwiches, paninis and toasties made to order. Cream teas with fruit scones and clotted cream are also available. You can grab a board game to play while waiting or enjoying your refreshments; there’s also complimentary WiFi. We enjoyed our visit, and will definitely return. It’s quirky, and unpretentious, with efficient service. It’s also spotlessly clean, with a top hygiene rating. The toilets were fresh and clean. It's also very child friendly; some tables are laid with games and activities for the kiddies! It’s only open Wednesday through to Saturday, with the coffee shop closing at 15:30. Unfortunately for wheelchair users, there's stairs at the front, and there's a lot of shelves and display units in the gift shop part of the complex that you'll have to weave your way through to get to the tearoom. However, there's seating outside if it's a nice day. Places like this deserve patronage! Give it a go!

If I ever go to a tearoom in ripley, it has to be jack in a box. Love that they serve your tea/coffee in old china cups. Great service, brilliant range of cakes, nice lunch, will visit time after time

Escondido en la parte trasera de la caja de Jack en la emporium, este pequeño salón de té es genial para taza y casero tarta después de curiosear el contenido amplio de la tienda. Vale la pena una visita

Spent a fabulous five hours at this lovely tearoom with some of our friends from Doncaster! On a previous visit (we're Ripley locals) I'd noticed that they had an updated version of 'Hotel', a game that my friend and I used to play together as kids and it's tricky to get your hands on! As a surprise, we got them to Jack-in-a-box and then asked for the game. (One of many games they have set aside to play in the tearoom). My friend was so excited, we had a lovely early lunch first and then got the game ready, having drinks (and beautiful cake) throughout. The staff are friendly and helpful and are running a fabulously quirky place! My friend had an ace day to remember - oh and the girls beat the boys!

Fascinating shop with vintage childrens and adults gifts, antiques, cards, jewellery and furniture with a lovely little café set right in the back. Served on vintage china, there is a selection of delicious cakes, panninis and toasted sandwiches. The beverages are scrumptious-tea,coffee and if you aren't on a diet- the most sinful, delicious hot chocolate! Facilities are clean, card games available to use and friendly staff. Try it- next to the interesting Depledge and Woods, down the cobbled courtyard .

Well hidden from the road, in a cobbled courtyard and not what you would expect to find in Ripley. The tearoom is at the rear of a little shop selling vintage items, bone china, jewellery etc. There is a wide variety of tea's(twinings) and coffee, plus freshly baked cakes, sandwiches and much more, all served on delightful bone china. The owners are welcoming and they clearly have a passion for what they do.This shows in the standards of hygiene throughout and I notice their food hygiene rating was a '5'Thoroughly enjoyable...we will be returning very soon!

Have been here several times and always been delighted. It is down a little street opposite the entrance to Wilkinson's. The cakes are to die for and everything is freshly prepared. The prices are very sensible. A look round the shop with its variety of old and modern and a trip to their tearoom makes for a very pleasant outing. Give it a go next time you visit Ripley. You will not be disappointed!

A real gem. Lovely, friendly service and the food is fabulous with some really unusual specials for a chip shop. Can highly recommend the salt and pepper squid.

After having several ‘tasting menu’ experiences at various local restaurants this was by far the worst! Bright lights, no atmosphere, filthy carpet, no table linen, paper napkins, chipped crockery, dirty glasses, bland food, no-one bothered to explain courses or ask if they were enjoyed, limited wine choice and, to top it all, we were charged for something we didn’t have! Would not recommend at all, try The lighthouse at Boylestone for a proper tasting menu experience!
