The best restaurants serving Default food in Knaresborough King James Harrogate Yorkshire and The Humber

This place has changed its name now and I can’t remember what it’s called. I went in for a sandwich which was lovely but the place…. Oh goodness! It really needs a rethink. It’s tiny and full of heavy tables and bulky old furniture that makes it really difficult to get around. It’s not shabby chic unfortunately, it’s missing the chic!! Outside looks ok but the new owners need to have a rethink of the interior. Also, when people leave it’s a good idea to clean the tables! Its not inviting to come in and see that tables haven’t been cleaned and there’s no excuse when the place is so quiet.

Apparently the chef went off sick. Fair enough, I know that things happen but to be told by a member of staff that they couldn’t contact anyone as they didn’t have any details was not true. I was asked for, and gave, my phone number when I booked so why make stuff up?

So expensive, and despite it being very quiet, they completely forgot our order twice. Coffee wasn't bad and the view is nice if it's sunny

Brought a mate here last week(Sept 2023)for a meal on a Friday night and it was Delicious we had a sizzler starter to share, a main course and rice each,and one naan bread,My Chicken Madras was Amazing! Used to eat here many years ago when it was The Spice Merchant.Nice decor and lighting too.

Was a very warm welcome by staff. Very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Sunday lunch was gorgeous and so was the sticky toffee pudding! Nice atmosphere

Just had the most amazing massive scone jam and cream, my partner had an amazing vanilla slice and son had a raisin danish. All amazing, shop absolutely packed with amazing bakes and break. One of the best bakeries I’ve ever been to

1858 is great for people with allergies. My husband is gluten and lactose free. They were brilliant. They came and told him exactly what he could have on the menu and how the chef would all trip for him. The food was fantastic. The service was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and we definitely go back again certainly recommended

I know its just a subway but as all stores are a franchise I think I ought to give credit to the service we received yesterday. My partner gets a subway a lot, always the same order and his was the best he's ever had. Staff were friendly and not skimpy with fillings as you do sometimes find!

Fantastic little sandwich shop, I used to go on a regular basis when I worked in Knaresborough. Food is always freshly made for you and the staff are really friendly and offer great customer service.

We went for lunch on a Friday after this was recommended at the accommodation we were staying at. The pub is lovely but the food was terrible - in fact in edible. We had 2 roast beef sandwiched with chips which cost £26. The beef was cur far too thick and was rubbery and chewy and inedible. My husband left his chewed meat in the side of his plate as he couldn’t eat it We waited for someone to come and ask how our food was but they never did - avoid for food!

VERY UNWELCOMING. Took a trip to knaresborough: like any human-being after a journey we were in need of a refreshing drink and of course the restrooms. My partner was bursting to use the restrooms so decided to use it first before ordering a drink. They ask for a donation which is compulsory if you haven’t ordered anything yet so should be called a FEE (go up and give them the fee) to use the restroom. However I did not use the restrooms myself and waited for him to come out so we could decide what to drink together. The lady berated me excruciatingly for simply standing silently, waiting…this could’ve been asked and explained nicely but no. If I did not want to order anything I would not have waited inside I would have simply stood outside in the sun a few steps away. It was extremely uncomfortable even whilst walking in I was being stared with judging looks by the man sat next to the bar. he could’ve been the landlord as there was no guest eating or drinking. BUT my mistake was not showing money first. I was tired and I have high levels of anxiety especially in new places and socially so I did not say anything and quietly walked out and waited outside whilst she carried on shouting things at me. This disrupted what was meant to be a nice day out to knaresborough. This is something that I did not forget about the day. She did not leave me a good impression of the people here. Would not recommend this place if you want a nice day out with peace of mind.
