We ate here twice whilst staying in a lodge on-site. The food is really good with generous portions (except one, the Sea Bass, quite expensive and the portion is small). The food is well cooked and nicely presented. The staff are really nice, friendly and helpful. It is on the first floor with nice views over the river and caravan/lodge park. There is a disabled lift. For peak times I would recommend you book, we went in July and it was reasonably busy. Thanks guys for some lovely meals.

We were looking for a nice place to drink and have some food, local to where we are staying - this place turned out not to be as nice as it looks and read about. We walked in and saw a lovely bar area and nice fitted out area all over. We asked for some drinks and sat down, but shortly afterwards a chap joined some others sat nearby on a different table and began talking. Personally at work I am used to this language, BUT not when I am with my wife in a nice looking place with reasonable reviews. It turned out this chap is STAFF, as he ended up behind the bar then getting some ice for the barman (virtually every other work was an F word or a “bloody” word. Yes, a lot of males in the pub but for me this language was unacceptable with a lady in the area and also young child walking around the bar area (I think he was a local to the bar). We will not return and if anyone is looking for a nice bar, suggest you think twice about here unless you like really bad language! I am used to bad language, due to my work and lifestyle (motorcycle rider and also a delivery driver) but this language should not be acceptable in a public bar/restaurant!

Five of us had a meal here again and it was excellent. Four of us had a set menu ( great choice ) service and food was excellent. The duck was very well cooked and had really good flavours. Family run with great attention to detail and so welcoming. What a great choice for a meal. We will be back.

The pub was quiet which was strange on a sunny Saturday evening however we waited a long time for our food which was very mediocre and over priced. We then waited a very long time for just 3 desserts we went and asked twice how long they would be! When the apple crumble finally arrived I noticed on the plate a dead crispy fly! I immediately and very discretely may I add returned the dessert to the bar where I received a half hearted apology from a gentlemen and a refund for the crumble I continued to stress to the bar man that I was not happy with our experience and that I wanted more compensation he did not offer me anything not even a round of drinks as a gesture of good will. He point blank refused to refund me for the other desserts that we had been put off. After working in the hospitality industry for 14 years if this had of happened to one of my customers I would’ve gone above and beyond to make sure they left my pub happy even tho they had found a dead fly in their food! I will never step foot in The Crown again I do not recommend it! The best thing about this pub is the outdoor play area as you don’t find many pubs these days with one but what a total let down of a pub! Don’t waste your time or money in the crown!

Good food but had a couple of issues. We just wanted to find a local pub. The crown came up. Instead of a one mile we travelled five miles, due to road Closures. We parked up, paid the parking fee, which should have been redeemed inside which the bar staff never reimbursed us. After a drink we wanted to eat. Ask if we could get a table. We were asked if we booked. I replied no as we were told we didn’t have by the young girl behind the bar. It wasn’t busy, so there were plenty of tables. Our food took ages. I had ordered gravy with my fish & chips, which was really watery. After the meal I went to pay. The young girl looked at me and went to the other side of the bar. I waited patiently It was getting busy at the bar. The lady who showed us the table, called for help serve. The young girl went straight to the gentleman that had just arrived to get a another drink. But the other lady asked her to serve me. Reluctantly served me. The bill was £44.33. The watery peppercorn gravy cost £2.50. The Crown is a lovely pub, with good food. Staff just need to change their attitude.

Harvy and his team were first class. I emailed saying it was a special birthday with friends and could they do something for me and straight away they replied saying very happy to help. When we arrived the whole team were just brilliant and really did make the day for us. I cant thank the team enough for a fantastic experience

Booked a table for 6 people at 7:15pm. Got there at 7:10 and after standing around for 10 minutes, we got sat down in the bar area. Waited another 10 minutes for put drinks orders to be taken. Given menus and waited another 30 minutes for food orders to be taken. Finally got taken to our table at 8:20pm over an hour after our booked time. Finally our food can e at 8:50pm… food was great albeit very small portions. Fish curry was good but the world’s smallest amount of rice. When the bill came the service charge was already on there. Our group personally do not like this as we prefer to give a tip for the service and the food NOT on the percentage of the overall food & drinks. Sorry to say that eating over 1 & 1/2 hours after table was booked is pretty poor. Whilst the place is lovey the service was slow. Either hire more staff including more chefs or take less bookings.

Nice friendly place, food and drink were tasty and decent value, not cheap but fine value for money. Staff were friendly and efficient. My criticism is that I picked the place on the basis of the Trip Advisor entry saying it was vegetarian friendly and vegan options. The website link didn’t work so I couldn’t check this. Actually, there were no vegan mains I could see and the only vegetarian main was vegetarian lasagna, so I went for that. It was fine but I was expecting more choice given the listing. Maybe take that bit down if you’re not offering vegan mains?
