Nice friendly place, food and drink were tasty and decent value, not cheap but fine value for money. Staff were friendly and efficient. My criticism is that I picked the place on the basis of the Trip Advisor entry saying it was vegetarian friendly and vegan options. The website link didn’t work so I couldn’t check this. Actually, there were no vegan mains I could see and the only vegetarian main was vegetarian lasagna, so I went for that. It was fine but I was expecting more choice given the listing. Maybe take that bit down if you’re not offering vegan mains?

Nice location in a pleasant village. Of a choice of 4 starters and 4 mains were told that only fish and chips were available at 18 pounds price on the menu. We were surprised that VAT was added onto the bill( not included in the price on the menu) making the cost over 20 pounds for fish and chips and adding 7.25 more to the bill than the prices on the menu with no note or warning of it.

We had booked an evening meal for Saturday and were surprised the pub wasn't busier. Notwithstanding us being the only booking, the chef had stayed on from lunchtime and proceeded to serve up a real treat for all four of us. The steak and kidney pudding (an increasing rarity on menus) was sublime, the haddock and chips great quality and home-made vegetable lasagne did not disappoint. Local (N. Cotswolds) beers and a decent Shiraz, all served up with a smile and sense of humour by barman Chris made an otherwise regular night out something a bit special. Definitely worth making a visit if you are in the area.

3 of us came here 24/9/23 for Sunday lunch. We hadn’t booked and as it was late on in the afternoon thought the chef had finished for the day but kindly agreed to provide us with wonderful roast dinners with tender beef, homemade Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese, green beans, leeks, carrots, parsnips and lovely crispy roast potatoes it was all delicious and then we had home made fruit crumble and custard which were superb !! The lady serving our table was so accommodating nothing was too much trouble it was all perfect especially as we were really hungry as had been walking for a couple of hours around Charlecote Park. A great end to a lovely day although we appreciate fully it’s best to book in future to avoid disappointment. Thanks again to all the staff.

After two huge disappointments on a planned day out, we decided to find a pub for lunch! We read reviews for The ferry and decided that give it a try. Great decision.... We received a warm welcome and ordered two drinks, then with two menus in our possession, we sat down next to a real fire Through our time in there we were neither hurried nor ignored. The meals were freshly cooked and delicious and delivered with smile. The ginger Parkin with rhubarb syrup and vanilla ice cream Oh my...... Great portion sizes and not expensive for the standard of food we ate. We were the first in there but, it soon filled up and there was a good atmosphere.Heartily recommend a visit.

We both had whitebait for starter which was superb. I had Gammon steak with pineapple for my main, which was delicious. My friend Rob had a burger for his main. His clear plate was a sign he enjoyed his main course! The staff were attentive from the moment we arrived. Nice selection of drinks available. The food was to die for all very tasteful and excellently presented, cannot say enough how great it all was. See pictures attached. We had the Turkey Goujons with sweet chilli dressing and chicken pate with onion relish. Mains of the Henry slow cooked Lamb very very tasty and the Asparagus tart. Desserts of a light lemon tart and a vanilla cheese cake with berry layer and a jelly top it looked and tasted amazing. Drinks of tea to finished severed on it’s on tray with timer. The staff all pleasant and friendly. Would we go back of course, shame we are not closer. Make sure you book as very popular and we now we know why.

Volvería a ir allí. No.

This was our favourite type of eatery, one which you discover out of the blue, by mere chance. We were in the area for a couple of days and driving around when we saw a signpost, "Ferry Inn". So we did a u-turn and followed the signs (and our noses) and came upon The Ferry, in Alveston. We had only intended to stop for a beer but we were also deciding on where to eat that evening and so we asked to see an evening menu. The menu was very enticing and, perhaps, ambitious in its choice and variety of dishes, but we were enticed and so booked for dinner that evening...we were given the 6.45pm sitting slot. It's a modest sized pub/restaurant, run by a team of 3 with, approximately, 7 or 8 tables. We gorged ourselves, to be honest, the food was absolutely fantastic, the service (carried out by one person, hence the dining slots) more than matched the quality of the food. This was quite a while ago, so I can't remember exactly what we both had but I recall that I had the goose liver pate to start, the lamb henry with parminter potatoes and finishing with Eve's pudding, all of which were prepared to perfection. There were a good selection of beers and real ales (I reverted to type and went with a personal favourite, Spitfire). The cost of a 3 course meal, no wine and the beer was around £65, which we considered to be a very fair price for the standard of food and service...we've certainly paid more, in the past, for far poorer fayre.Access wise, there is one large step to get in, i'm not sure about the disabled WC facilities inside as I had no call to need them. There is a ramped terrace area outside the pub, which would be ideal in the summer months. All in all, I highly recommend this establishment, whether you simply want a nice beer, in a traditional English Pub setting or a fine dining experience, be it lunch or dinner.

The lunch menu was reasonably priced, and the food was delicious. We recently visited this pub that claims to provide ‘fine dining’ it is anything but fine dining with terrible service. Worst service I have received in a long time. The French onion soup was awful and tasteless. The salmon was smothered in butter but most importantly the service was the worst. We were not made welcome when we arrived, we were not asked if we would like more drinks (we had to go to the bar) and then as we waited ages for the dessert menu we didn’t want desserts. We were told that as it is a two course menu they might be able to do something for us! Just awful.

Clean pub just outside of Stratford with what looked to be, a nice menu offering good food. Fab and friendly service from who I presume was the owner, really nice local feel and worth a pint if in the area. Near by to the river, worth the 3 minute walk for a look.

Great little pub with bags of atmosphere. Food is good but perhaps a little pricey for the quality. Worth a try

We visit this pub often and decided to get the fish and chips takeaway tonight. Enjoyed a bottle of wine while we waited as you do! Food was great. Huge fish portions and chips were much better than others in nearby pubs. Can highly recommend. Thanks.

Very friendly atmosphere and amazing food. The chef came out and chatted to us about how he prepared the food which was very interesting and super friendly.

We visited The Ferry on a weekday lunchtime. It's a few miles outside Stratford upon Avon and is a lovely pub inside and out. The food was delicious, we had a steak and mushroom pie and a fish board, and there were two well kept real ales. The only downside is that there is no car park so you have to park on the street, but there was plenty of room to do so when we visited - well worth a visit.

I would second the review about the chocolate torte, but the whole meal and the atmosphere were fantastic, lovely fire, good beer...

Take the time out and visit The Ferry its about 4 miles outside Stratford in a small english village and is well worth the journey. BUT please book so you can ensure a table as it does get busy and to get there and be disappointed is a crime. As for the food as with all good restaurants it can take up to 30 minutes before you get your food as it all cooked fresh with local ingredients. On our visit they had 2 real ales kept to a high standard and a various selection of wines to go with the meal or to sip by the wood fire. One word of advise check out the specials board for deserts because after a starter and main we could not manage a desert and felt we had missed out. Check on line for the menu and I'm sure you will find something to take your fancy.

We came here for lunch with family, having made a reservation as tables are limited and we didn’t want to miss out.

The Ferry is a lovely little pub and there are always other people there. We were offered the daily specials, one of which was a chicken and wild mushroom pie. My friend enquired as to whether this was a 'proper' pie or a casserole with a pastry lid plonked on before serving? The answer was that it was a proper pie because, although it only had a pastry top this was applied before cooking so pie and lid were cooked together. It was also shortcrust rather than the ubiquitous puff pastry! We decided to have the pie and were not at all disappointed, the filling was beautiful, really tasty, and the pastry lid crisp and brown. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Wanted to meet friends somewhere between Lincolnshire & Somerset and the pin fell here. What a find ! Lovely location , welcoming hosts, and amazing food. Personal service throughout and no hurry for us to leave the table. (Wonderful new Brandy as well and the Lamb Henry was to die for.!!!)/ Almost want to keep it to ourselves as it was so good !!!

My pal found The Ferry on a Google search. Both of us were delighted at the quality of the food, the warmth of the welcome, the reasonable prices and the ease of parking. We’d definitely recommend The Ferry. We’ll be back, for certain,

We were greeted by helpful friendly staff, and shown to our reserved seating. The venue has been refurbished since we last visited and has been done tastefully. The service was quick and the food was lovely (although it would have been nice to have a slightly bigger portion). Despite this it was good vfm.

Booked a table for 6 people at 7:15pm. Got there at 7:10 and after standing around for 10 minutes, we got sat down in the bar area. Waited another 10 minutes for put drinks orders to be taken. Given menus and waited another 30 minutes for food orders to be taken. Finally got taken to our table at 8:20pm over an hour after our booked time. Finally our food can e at 8:50pm… food was great albeit very small portions. Fish curry was good but the world’s smallest amount of rice. When the bill came the service charge was already on there. Our group personally do not like this as we prefer to give a tip for the service and the food NOT on the percentage of the overall food & drinks. Sorry to say that eating over 1 & 1/2 hours after table was booked is pretty poor. Whilst the place is lovey the service was slow. Either hire more staff including more chefs or take less bookings.

Had a great time a couple weeks back at the Holly Bush. The bar staff where lush amd chatty had lots of space for me and my group of friends to hang out. Played darts , played bord games and had a great beer choice.

What an fabulous pub! This is what a true English pub looks like, feels like, smells like! Amazing...log fire, real beer, professional staff. The pub has so much history , from the date of the building to the contents around the pub. I enjoyed a fine cigar out front, below it's famous Mulberry tree, enjoyed a great pint of Guinness whilst listening to an Owl in a tree opposite the pub. A must place to visit...
