We had a fantastic dining experience at The Boathouse in Stratford-upon-Avon. Our table overlooked the river, offering a spectacular view of the boats, which made for a truly memorable setting. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and professional. Our waiter recommended a dish from the fish specials, and it turned out to be exceptional—the best meal we’ve had in years! We truly appreciated the suggestion, as every bite was delicious. Highly recommend The Boathouse for a special date night!

We have just enjoyed a superb Sunday lunch at The Boat House. We had not booked but they were able to seat us quickly. It was lovely and warm in there on a cold day. We both had the roast beef Sunday lunch with a side of cauliflower cheese. It was excellent. The meat was soft, the roast potatoes were crispy and fluffy. The cauliflower cheese had loads of cheese topping it. Plus a generous amount of gravy on the plate. The service was excellent. The view was lovely and all together a very reasonable cost. I would certainly recommend.

Lovely place, wasn't as expected! Lovely inside, outside didn't do it justice, food was amazing, 6 of us and were all happy with our meals. One gluten free, best menu options I've ever had, so happy. Great staff, service top notch, amaz8ng atmosphere, pretty decor, nice ambience. No complaints at all, would highly recommend 👌🏼 beef cheeks, pork belly, so good.

The food i had here today was outstanding,one of the best meal experiences I have had in a long time . The Crispy duck to start was perfection,followed by the most tender beef cheek I have had melted in your mouth. Well done Chefs and great service to by a lovely gentleman and a younger chap,outstanding 😁

2 nights here for dinner... The first night we had the fish and was so good we booked for dinner again the next night.....The food is amazing and we have eaten in a lot of so called great restaurants.... The staff are awesome friendly and attentive. The food is the best we have had in a long time... When you get fed up of paying high prices for so called great food ... This place blows most out of the water....

Beautiful food with creative flavours , I had the lamb it was very nice and had great presentation. The service was very quick and the lady that served us helped with recommendations for us to go to for a drink after our meal as we were staying as a holiday and didn’t know the area too well. Happy customers ☺️x

Went in by chance we were blown away by the food. Had the ox cheek and the muscles the latter was a special. Both were incredibly tasty great service also it’s in a great location and it’s a cosy dining room I might come back to Stratford just for this gem!

Great food and location! We walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. They offered us a nicer table when one became available without us even asking to be moved. We are locals and haven’t eaten a The Boathouse for years but will definitely be returning very soon.

Lovely meal with very attentive service topping up our wine. I loved the pork and the OH thought the Halibut and risotto was great. Starters were both great as well-i recommend the pea fritters. The mackerel mousse was also amazing. All told- a great meal and friendly service

I think the location is great and the staff are brilliant. Especially the young blonde woman working Boxing Day. The food is a little bland and over priced. Not a big selection either. Would try again though.

Very disappointing. 3 people received their”starter” and 1 persons order did not turn up! Mushroom Tarte was tasteless, the tarte base was so hard you could barely cut through it. Infact, one of us gave up trying! Front of house who resembled Groucho Marx, thought it tasteful to be walking around a so-called restaurant in an Hawaiian shirt and shorts at Christmas! Decent atmosphere spoilt by very poor food offerings! Would not recommend!

Great place, peaceful atmosphere, Top Notch Service!! The serving staff and Bar Manager absolutely amazing cleared us a table despite us not having booking prior, riverside view no less! This was always our favourite Thai restaurant when visiting Stratford and we were gutted when it closed so when we found it had opened again we had to try it. No longer a Thai restaurant but the food was fabulous. We don’t eat meat do had a risotto starter and a pea fritter with Ali oli. The pea starter was absolutely delicious and the aoli was some of the best I’ve had. For main we had a Thai curry and sea bass fillets, again both were fabulous. We will certainly come back next time we visit.

Encantadora ubicación junto al río donde tuvimos una maravillosa cena asada con todos los adornos. Queríamos un pudín después, sin embargo, no nos dieron uno como iba en la noche y dejaron de servir a las 7 pero aún así recomendaría comer allí.

Vaya regalo de cumpleaños, fui el martes a una cita. Mi compañero había hecho unas cuantas preguntas, me di cuenta. Sin embargo, el personal fue más allá de lo que cualquier 1 esperaría. Me sentí como una celebridad, el alboroto, sentado en su conservatorio mirando sobre el río, viendo a los cisnes moverse a la luz de la luna. Comida as, servicio fantástico por lo que tuve que conseguir una bebida para el personal para su trabajo duro. Gracias a todos una vez más.

Nice place and food is good. It's a bit small and they have a lot of tables which can feel a claustrophobic.

I had a fig salad for over £8 , which included only one green fig, a bit of goat cheese with burned toast and walnuts form a cheap supermarket ( with a slight aftertaste when they are not fresh enough) . When complained , I was given another toast bread that tasted like a toast you do from a stale bread to make it going further.

I thought it was a lovely place, but not particularly baby friendly, only 2 high chairs available and no baby changing facilities, I couldn’t even take the pushchair into the disabled toilets and change her in that as it was downstairs so I had to change her in the restaurant in her pushchair which I didn’t like doing.

Visited on a Monday evening for a birthday celebration, quite a buzzy atmosphere with a few people just at the bar for a drink, varied menu but with lots of fish, we ate fish cakes, chicken souvlaki, swordfish and pork tenderloin, well presented, v tasty and large portions. It was a great evening, many thanks and we will return.

Had a fabulous meal here, baked camembert to share for starter, braised beef cheek for the main which was beautifully cooked and melted in the mouth, and a gorgeous sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The cocktails were lovely too, and the service was super. All that with views of the river and boats made for a lovely evening out.

Never even got into restaurant, informed them my wife was bronical asthmatic. Took us to a table where the heater was blowing onto the table. Told the waitress my wife was bronical asthmatic, she that's the table and what's bronical asthmatic. Not a clue.

On a mini break and looked for something a bit up market with a view of the river, Found all this at The Boathouse. Booking system confusing but Henrietta found us a window seat with a 180 degrees outlook. Perfect. The staff were so helpful and friendly especially Henrietta. The fish was deliciously fresh and cooked to perfection. Yes, I will be returning.

We booked this restaurant for me and my wife's 1st year wedding anniversary. I requested a couple of glasses of fizz prior to arrival, and they were waiting us at the table, the food was delicious, drinks were lovely, atmosphere was nice and chilled, lovely lighting which made the meal even more special. I highly recommend coming to The Boathouse!

The 4th time I've eaten at the Boat House and every time the food and service has been excellent. I recently ate at a One Star Michelin restaurant. The food at the Boat House is comparable, if not better.

Dinner with friends - had the belly pork with the romesco sauce from the specials menu - absolutely delicious- please put it on your main menu !!

Turned up quite early. Didn’t have to wait until our booking time. Very accommodating. Very friendly. Food was superb. Fish specials is recommended. Didn’t have to wait long once ordered. Had a lovely view of the river in the evening. Thank you.

Really nice place to sit by the river on a sunny day. Usually have drinks but have also had lunch here and it's nice food made to a good standard. Staff are nice and friendly, would definitely recommend.

First of all, the prices are way too high. Crispy chicken fries on the childrens list costs £8.50. The margherita pizza is as thin as cardboard and isn't good enough for £9. The fries from the burgers aren't even peeled properly. Service is not too bad but I had to wait 30 minutes for my food. The atmosphere is really nice. I love the idea of eating next to a river.

What a wonderful restaurant. It can sometimes be a bit daunting and awkward eating out solo, but this was not the case here. Genuinely friendly and attentive staff, who ensured I had a perfect table overlooking the river. As a first-time visitor to Stratford, the view really made it special. The food was absolutely delicious. Faultless. I had the parmesan chicken schnitzel with mint & pea risotto. It was cooked perfectly. I also had a side of cabbage, leeks & peas and they tasted so fresh and buttery. Finished off with sticky toffee pudding. The portions were a good size. It's not cheap dining, but compared to other places I considered in the centre of Stratford, it wasn't ridiculously overpriced for 2 courses, a side and a large glass of wine. The restaurant itself is decorated really nicely too and has a lovely ambience. Highly recommended.

Was craving seafood when we visited Shakespeare town and stumbled on this lovely restaurant. Even for a Monday, it was extremely busy, however we did find table without booking. I had baked trout and it was beautiful cooked and absolutely loved pan fried seaweed. My partner had the sea bass with chorizo and new potatoes. Everything seemed really fresh. Service was very quick even when it was busy. Would definitely recommend🐠

we enjoyed a lovely lunch here today , we had buffalo chicken burgers and a beef burger, the rustic chips were lovely and crisp , all with a gorgeous view over the river. friendly attentive staff .

Such a lovely restaurant, with beautiful views and great food! The pork belly, chicken shnitzel, sardinnes and swordfish were delicious, and the staff were so friendly - they even offered to move us to the window to have a view of the river once a table became free, and had a chicken burger made up for my son. Would love to go back, all in all a really special place.

I've lived here for over 20 years now, and the steak I had at The Boat House for my anniversary was the BEST I've ever had!

Visited Stratford yesterday had lunch here. We were made verywelcome the manager could not have helped more explained each meal its content and how cooked. We will certainly go there again.

I went there with my friend today and though they had three tables free they refused to take us in. It felt like they were being raciest given that we were both brown.

We had a really great experience here at the Boathouse. The restaurant was so pretty with incredible views of the river. Our starters were really good and we also enjoyed our mains. Our steak was a little over cooked but they immediately offered to recook it for us. Our server Millie was so lovely and friendly, can't wait to visit again!

First time at the boat house, dog friendly as a bonus. Fantastic food for the price. Friendly staff and beautiful views of the river. Sat outside for a drink beforehand in the sun and then inside for food.

I’m staying in Stratford for a couple of days and my mum and I wanted to eat somewhere quiet away from the football noise, we came to the boat house and they slotted us in easily even though the table was booked for an hours time. Liv, our server was lovely and very attentive, when I’m back in Stratford I will definitely be back at the boat house. Exceptional food.

Stopped with 3 friends for a drink. Sat by the river , lovely view. Ordered 3 alcoholic drinks and a coffee only to be told I wasn't allowed to have coffee outside. Staff were unable to give a reason for this ridiculous rule. Apparently I could eat outside however. Wouldn't visit again.

Welcoming staff, Good food with a decent menu Service was great up until the point where the staff said they wanted our table and asked us to move . We hadn’t even finished our bottle of champagne. They said we would be seated somewhere else.We noted there were a few empty tables around Booking at 5:30 asked to move 7:10 not even two hours . We were having such a lovely time until this tarnished the atmosphere slightly . No gratuity this time .. Hope this helps for the future …….

Great location and delicious food!

Couldn’t fault the place. Amazing food and the service was spot-on. A minor complaint about a starter was dealt with immediately by the manager and our server was the perfect balance or attentive, pleasant and friendliness (we later learned she was a newbie, but you couldn’t tell). We will definitely be back.

A gem of a place to eat at any time. We were lucky to be seated on the balcony on two consecutive evenings for dinner. A view to die for. There is a great feeling of being made very welcome. Such a friendly place to have a meal. The food is delicious and the service is simply the best. Without doubt our experience at The Boathouse was one of the highlights of our long weekend. Thank you so much to all who contributed to that experience. We will be back.

An excellent location for a birthday celebratory meal. Waiting staff were very attentive and nothing was too much (even after I ordered a cheese starter not realising it was cheese 🤦🏼‍♀️). Would definitely recommend for casual dining or a celebration 🎉

Visited here Bank Holiday weekend. The restaurant is decorated beautifully, staff are friendly and the food was delicious. Sat by a window overlooking the river. Would recommend.

We were very happy with the restaurant in general in terms of the views, cleanliness, etc. the lady that served us was amazing. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name but she was from the Lake District. Initially, when we went in though the two ladies behind the counter told us there wasn’t any seats available at all and we also felt a little bit of indirect discrimination as we had our disabled son with severe learning difficulties. But, the woman that came as we were walking out to leave was ever so helpful and got us a table in the corner which was a bar table and not reserved. I don’t know why the her two ladies didn’t tell us this and felt a little bit let down. Anyway, in the end it worked out. Many thanks

A nice welcome from staff and decent food. However, this was interrupted by a swanky sleazy sort of male character who seemed to be very interested in his much younger female colleagues which included touching them. I’m not sure if they really appreciated it or even if they did it was appropriate………If you go see if you can spot the character….also mind the ice cream tubs if you visit the gents.

We visited the boat house for lunch - amazing location overlooking the canal. Henrietta kindly found us the last seats on the balcony and embodied ‘service with a smile’, she’s a superstar! Burgers are huuuge, if you’re going for a light lunch you could definitely split one, we were stuffed! Would definitely come back again and recommend.

Fabulous food and service. Had belly pork to start, fabulous. The venison was good but the pork tenderloin was too die for. Wine was reasonably priced. Super location.

Don’t go. Staff were extremely rude, there was a massive group of us. We had all bought drinks, they waited for us to drink them and told us to leave for no reason. Wouldn’t recommend!

I booked The Boat House for a group of 30 of us following a work event. All communication beforehand was excellent and everyone I dealt with was incredibly helpful. The Boat House itself looked great on the night with the layout that had been done for our large group, the food was fabulous and the service smiley and slick. We were all really impressed and had a fab evening - would highly recommend. Thank you to everyone at The Boat House.

The Boathouse is in a beautiful location, overlooking the river Avon. The service and food were very good. However the restaurant was very busy with large groups etc (which is good) but it was incredibly noisy which was very distracting. We could barely hear what we were saying to each other and left earlier than we intended which was disappointing. I don’t think we would return - sorry!
