Really nice place to sit by the river on a sunny day. Usually have drinks but have also had lunch here and it's nice food made to a good standard. Staff are nice and friendly, would definitely recommend.

First of all, the prices are way too high. Crispy chicken fries on the childrens list costs £8.50. The margherita pizza is as thin as cardboard and isn't good enough for £9. The fries from the burgers aren't even peeled properly. Service is not too bad but I had to wait 30 minutes for my food. The atmosphere is really nice. I love the idea of eating next to a river.

What a wonderful restaurant. It can sometimes be a bit daunting and awkward eating out solo, but this was not the case here. Genuinely friendly and attentive staff, who ensured I had a perfect table overlooking the river. As a first-time visitor to Stratford, the view really made it special. The food was absolutely delicious. Faultless. I had the parmesan chicken schnitzel with mint & pea risotto. It was cooked perfectly. I also had a side of cabbage, leeks & peas and they tasted so fresh and buttery. Finished off with sticky toffee pudding. The portions were a good size. It's not cheap dining, but compared to other places I considered in the centre of Stratford, it wasn't ridiculously overpriced for 2 courses, a side and a large glass of wine. The restaurant itself is decorated really nicely too and has a lovely ambience. Highly recommended.

Was craving seafood when we visited Shakespeare town and stumbled on this lovely restaurant. Even for a Monday, it was extremely busy, however we did find table without booking. I had baked trout and it was beautiful cooked and absolutely loved pan fried seaweed. My partner had the sea bass with chorizo and new potatoes. Everything seemed really fresh. Service was very quick even when it was busy. Would definitely recommend🐠

we enjoyed a lovely lunch here today , we had buffalo chicken burgers and a beef burger, the rustic chips were lovely and crisp , all with a gorgeous view over the river. friendly attentive staff .

Such a lovely restaurant, with beautiful views and great food! The pork belly, chicken shnitzel, sardinnes and swordfish were delicious, and the staff were so friendly - they even offered to move us to the window to have a view of the river once a table became free, and had a chicken burger made up for my son. Would love to go back, all in all a really special place.

I've lived here for over 20 years now, and the steak I had at The Boat House for my anniversary was the BEST I've ever had!

Visited Stratford yesterday had lunch here. We were made verywelcome the manager could not have helped more explained each meal its content and how cooked. We will certainly go there again.

I went there with my friend today and though they had three tables free they refused to take us in. It felt like they were being raciest given that we were both brown.

We had a really great experience here at the Boathouse. The restaurant was so pretty with incredible views of the river. Our starters were really good and we also enjoyed our mains. Our steak was a little over cooked but they immediately offered to recook it for us. Our server Millie was so lovely and friendly, can't wait to visit again!

I’m staying in Stratford for a couple of days and my mum and I wanted to eat somewhere quiet away from the football noise, we came to the boat house and they slotted us in easily even though the table was booked for an hours time. Liv, our server was lovely and very attentive, when I’m back in Stratford I will definitely be back at the boat house. Exceptional food.

Stopped with 3 friends for a drink. Sat by the river , lovely view. Ordered 3 alcoholic drinks and a coffee only to be told I wasn't allowed to have coffee outside. Staff were unable to give a reason for this ridiculous rule. Apparently I could eat outside however. Wouldn't visit again.

Welcoming staff, Good food with a decent menu Service was great up until the point where the staff said they wanted our table and asked us to move . We hadn’t even finished our bottle of champagne. They said we would be seated somewhere else.We noted there were a few empty tables around Booking at 5:30 asked to move 7:10 not even two hours . We were having such a lovely time until this tarnished the atmosphere slightly . No gratuity this time .. Hope this helps for the future …….

Great location and delicious food!

Couldn’t fault the place. Amazing food and the service was spot-on. A minor complaint about a starter was dealt with immediately by the manager and our server was the perfect balance or attentive, pleasant and friendliness (we later learned she was a newbie, but you couldn’t tell). We will definitely be back.

A gem of a place to eat at any time. We were lucky to be seated on the balcony on two consecutive evenings for dinner. A view to die for. There is a great feeling of being made very welcome. Such a friendly place to have a meal. The food is delicious and the service is simply the best. Without doubt our experience at The Boathouse was one of the highlights of our long weekend. Thank you so much to all who contributed to that experience. We will be back.

An excellent location for a birthday celebratory meal. Waiting staff were very attentive and nothing was too much (even after I ordered a cheese starter not realising it was cheese 🤦🏼‍♀️). Would definitely recommend for casual dining or a celebration 🎉

We were very happy with the restaurant in general in terms of the views, cleanliness, etc. the lady that served us was amazing. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name but she was from the Lake District. Initially, when we went in though the two ladies behind the counter told us there wasn’t any seats available at all and we also felt a little bit of indirect discrimination as we had our disabled son with severe learning difficulties. But, the woman that came as we were walking out to leave was ever so helpful and got us a table in the corner which was a bar table and not reserved. I don’t know why the her two ladies didn’t tell us this and felt a little bit let down. Anyway, in the end it worked out. Many thanks

A nice welcome from staff and decent food. However, this was interrupted by a swanky sleazy sort of male character who seemed to be very interested in his much younger female colleagues which included touching them. I’m not sure if they really appreciated it or even if they did it was appropriate………If you go see if you can spot the character….also mind the ice cream tubs if you visit the gents.

We visited the boat house for lunch - amazing location overlooking the canal. Henrietta kindly found us the last seats on the balcony and embodied ‘service with a smile’, she’s a superstar! Burgers are huuuge, if you’re going for a light lunch you could definitely split one, we were stuffed! Would definitely come back again and recommend.

Fabulous food and service. Had belly pork to start, fabulous. The venison was good but the pork tenderloin was too die for. Wine was reasonably priced. Super location.

Don’t go. Staff were extremely rude, there was a massive group of us. We had all bought drinks, they waited for us to drink them and told us to leave for no reason. Wouldn’t recommend!

I booked The Boat House for a group of 30 of us following a work event. All communication beforehand was excellent and everyone I dealt with was incredibly helpful. The Boat House itself looked great on the night with the layout that had been done for our large group, the food was fabulous and the service smiley and slick. We were all really impressed and had a fab evening - would highly recommend. Thank you to everyone at The Boat House.

The Boathouse is in a beautiful location, overlooking the river Avon. The service and food were very good. However the restaurant was very busy with large groups etc (which is good) but it was incredibly noisy which was very distracting. We could barely hear what we were saying to each other and left earlier than we intended which was disappointing. I don’t think we would return - sorry!

I have just returned from a family meal at the Boat House. The Sunday dinner was fantastic and the hospitality was extremely welcoming. I ordered the pork and I can honestly say it was the harvest portion I have had at a pub meal. My family will certainly be returning. Thank you

A friend held her 80th B’day party here & it was a fabulous success - due the brilliant young smiley Team who looked after all 20 guests so well. The set 3 course menu choice was perfect and the food utterly delicious. All the dishes came out of the kitchen at the same time, hot and beautifully presented (not easy when catering for 20 guests) The attentive service made all the difference and I think the majority age group surprised them as at 80yrs they were still partying 4 hours later - such was the great atmosphere, venue & wine. The location is great, right next to the river, we were lucky enough to get a table by the window which I would recommend. The staff were great, attentive to a really good degree. The roast was one of the best I’ve had, the potatoes were the highlight. The Chicken burger along with the ‘rustic fries’ were the perfect size and delicious. Great experience would recommend.

We popped in for lunch and had a really great experience. Hadn’t booked but got shown to probably the best table in the place in a secluded corner with double aspect view over the river- wonderful! Excellent welcome and service. We had starters plus a bowl of chips and a couple of drinks each. Food was delicious and good value. It was busy but had a nice atmosphere and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. No pressure to order anything else and no hurry to turn tables. Could have sat there all afternoon! Great place and will definitely go back to try an evening meal.

Weekend away with best girlfriends from around UK. Staying in house 5 mins from Boathouse. Liked the reviews and perfect siting. Food was absolutely fabulous. Way beyond good expectations. Everyone loved every dish. In particular the Brian bean burrata was exceptional. Best we have all had in a long time. Great pricing. Generous portions. Friendly staff. Came down from Cheshire for the weekend, booked the Boathouse for 6 pm on Friday 23rd February. Phoned to ask if we could change our booking as we may be a little late, the receptionist said no but we could arrive up to 6:15 pm, we said we did not want to inconvenience the restaurant and would get there as soon as we could. We arrived at the Boathouse at 18:09 pm, well within the time. We waited at reception, a girl came up to us and asked for my name, no hello, no good evening, then told us you have to get out for 8pm. Very unprofessional and rude. The pub area was full and we had to squeeze past people blocking the way to the table, which looked like it was stuck in a narrow passageway. The waitress was lovely and friendly, but despite that it got worse. My wife ordered an apple juice but got pineapple instead, my wife ordered chicken and I ordered plaice at £24.00. When the food arrived my wife said this is strange, next minute the waitress came and apologised - my wife had been given the wrong dish, a vegetarian dish - ok the waitress told us the chef had made a mistake and not to worry about the vegetarian dish and have it with the chefs compliments. My plaice was disgusting, the fish was waterlogged like it had been quick defrosted and was as best I can describe mushy nothing like fish. We decided enough was enough, paid our bill and left at 7 pm. What did we think, the girl at reception needs to improve her manners, the food was at best a 1, the table location was cramped and seats uncomfortable and the only decent part was the professionalism and friendly service from the waitress. Overall rubbish and overrated will not recommend this to anyone.

Good, well-cooked and presented food. Large portions so take a good appetite. The young staff were friendly and efficient. Some scaffolding in place at the moment while work being done to the exterior but this didn't detract from the great views over the river.

Excellent meal before visiting The RSC for a show. We had the baked camembert to start which was lovely. For the main course I would highly recommend the beef.. it was so tender I didn't need a knife to cut it.. the best beef I have ever tried. The chocolate pot was nice, but a little too tart for my liking, but still tasted nice. Curtis was great and really friendly with great recommendations throughout the meal.

Visited Boat House as it was a half way point for a friend and I, as there was loads of parking nearby it was very convenient. The setting is lovely, if you are seated next to the window (which we were) you look out over the river which is charming. There was a great variety of menu choices, we enjoyed the swordfish and chicken escalope. The service was nothing short of great. Overall, wish it was closer so I could visit again soon.

Birthday surprise 🫢. Excellent food for lunch. Sharing starter of sourdough, lovely. Mains were Hake with samphire with lobster sauce. Also pumpkin curry 🍛. Absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. Desert was lemon posset.

Nice pub slightly out of the main part of town. Nice panoramic views of the river, but you have to eat to take advantage of the seating overlooking the river. A large wine and pint were pricey at £17. Still I can recommend.

Service minus 10 the manager mat was addiment he wasn't gonna give us a table we asked if we could eat on several occasions and said he hasn't got a table one came free and said we are turning it around for someone else coming and never came and we stopped for several drinks and by the time we left was about 6 tables free that we could see but was addiment he wasn't gonna give us one don't know why maybe thought he was somewhat special and on a power trip this is not good service in my eyes hope you have a better experience.

Atmosphere and Service were above average. Very unique beautiful setting especially if you pre-book a window seat. Lovely wine menu, Food menu is very enticing -sadly the execution was not great for us this visit. But I've heard great reviews off friends. Staff were highly accommodating and very polite hence the 4stars, every single one was smiling and had great servive skills. I would return to try again because the experience was still nice-bad days do happen.

Our daughter recently held her wedding guest lunch here for 50 guests. The organisation, food and service were impeccable. The owner was very hands on and ensured everything flowed seamlessly and all at an extremely reasonable price. A huge thank you, it was perfect.

We went here with some friends who were up from London visiting stratford. It's a nice relaxed place and was very Christmasy, with a ski themed exterior. The food was ok. Pizza's were nice and an ok selection of beers. The wine was a bit hit and miss, but chicken wings were nothing to write home about. it's very easy to walk to from Stratford town cntr. and park close by for al the amenities.

My husband and I visited the restaurant for lunch for my birthday (15/11/23). The front of house guy (guy with beard) was very welcoming and we were taken to a lovely set overlooking the river. I had the beef cheek and my husband had the duck - both were present wonderfully and looked amazing. As it was a birthday treat, we decided on dessert which was the most amazing treacle tart for me and a selection of cheeses for my husband. Very nice atmosphere and surroundings with fantastic food - will definitely visit again!

We arrived; my wife and I, mother in law and a one year old and three year old. There is no kids menu and only two high chairs in the whole place so not very kid friendly. They made chicken, chips and peas for my three year old and were very accommodating for my mother in law who only wanted a small main so when she ordered the sea bass they only gave her one fillet and an overall reduced portion at half the price which was amazing. We had a glass of wine each which was great. So pretty good to be honest; although not explicitly child friendly, they rustled something up for my little boy and mother in law. I ordered the venison and my wife ordered the duck breast. Now they looked impressive plates but they were both massively disappointing. The venison was overcooked and tasteless and the rosti that it came with was awful; bad taste and zero seasoning. The greens were delicious though. Same problem with the duck breast; just overcooked and not very nice. We shared a couple of desserts which were fab but the meat dishes were just not worth the money. The seabass plate was a nice meal but I would say again the fish was over cooked. So all good but the main event on each plate was poor! We ordered
