The best restaurants serving Default food in Crawley Down and Turners Hill Mid Sussex South East

The cafe is currently closed, but all the signs still say “open”! Would be a good idea to update the signs to save us a climb.

My wife and I met old friends here for lunch yesterday. We can't praise the welcome we received and the food too highly. The lamb shank and chicken and leak pie were excellent as were the desserts. Gemma and her team ensured that this was a very special and memorable occasion. We will definitely be coming back.

The food is really wonderful, both dining in at the restaurant or take away. It can be noisy on a Saturday night, so if you're after a romantic evening and enjoy talking to each other whilst dining, go elsewhere. We could hardly hear ourselves speak, and had to keep repeating ourselves so it wasn't ideal, especially as it was only our third date getting to know each other. The food was so enjoyable and the service impeccable so we would certainly return on a Saturday night for dinner, whether just the two of us or with friends. We have had a few take-aways though which doesn't disappoint.

Warm and cosy on a grey, cold January day. Super fast arrival of food to the table. Huge omelette and huge, varied side salads. I asked for a lemon and ginger tea but they didn’t have any so the lovely lady serving me gave me one of her own teas! So kind of her. Thank you 🙏🏻 100% recommend

The king prawns were more like regular prawns and there were very few considering the cost of the dish. The prawns were also over cooked unfortunately, so they were very tough and dry. The onion bhaji’s, naan and rice were fine.

We had a lovely evening at The Crown with delicious food. We have been a few times recently and each time the food has been excellent. How nice that it’s not run by a chain but a proper local pub.

The first time to AG’s although we have visited the Reflections restaurant in the same location on a few previous occasions. We had Christmas lunch, and the whole experience from arrival, with drinks in the Champagne Lounge to departure was amazing. The quality and presentation of the food was exceptional as was the high level of service and attention from the staff. Highly recommended on every level

After eating here a few years ago and enjoying it, I thought I would try again after new management and hearing good things. Staff were friendly and accommodating BUT food was appalling. We actually couldn't finish it and I left feeling sick, feel ill just thinking about it. Haven't eaten such bad food before, it was shocking. Will never go back. Wish I had read the reviews on here before going!

The Royal Oak took a dinner booking more than 6 weeks in advance. The day before the booked reservation, we rang them to confirm the booking time only to be told they could not accommodate us. They said the chef had been taken sick. After some researching we found out the Oak does not open on the day we had booked. It all seemed a bit odd, and wondered when they were going to tell us 🤔
