Really disappointing this pub used to thriving and always full to the brim on a Sunday, not now and it’s not difficult to see why. After often visiting years ago and feeling this with the best carvery in the area we decided to give it a go with the new ownership. Firstly it is not easy to book multiple phone numbers scattered across the internet. But luckily/unlucikly it’s that empty that it’s not necessary to book in here anymore. The carvery is very basic, potato’s burnt to a crisp and tastes cheap to overall. The worst part of the experience was when the woman wondering in and out of the kitchen in dirty clothes, with dirty fingernails went on the customer side of the carvery and proceeded to pick at the meat with her hands and eat it in front of us. Don’t bother to complain as the staff take no responsibility, make excuses for the meat picking and practically accuse you of lying. Surely none of this would wash with a good hygiene inspection? I expect this pub will soon be closed again.

Today should of been our wedding day...instead we are having afternoon tea a surprise from son. Thank you for delivering this wonderful surprise of section of sandwiches and cakes. We will visit the shop once this lockdown is over.

An oasis on the A627. Mark and his team do a wonderful job. Food is delicious and the ales are superb. You do get what you pay for. Worth a visit; especially the roaring fire. NB: no need to change the pretext.

Paper plates and cups?!?! After joining the huge queue, was curious as to why I could not find any crockery for my sandwich and cakes. Only when I got the front of the queue were we informed that the dishwasher was broke, hence paper plates, cups and wooden cutlery. Only one person on the till which explained the extremely long queue. Am a frequent visitor to the cafe and really do enjoy the marks and spencer pot of tea but today was just a let down. Cafe staff serving tea in a paper cup. Only half filled the cup and had to tell them how much milk was needed, but by the time we sat down at our table, the tea bag had stewed and the tea was far too strong - no extra milk provided. Usually you can get a good three cups of tea from the teapot but today, was literally three quarters of a cup of below standard tea. No discount offered to costumers either despite having to use paper plates, wooded cutlery etc The cafe needs at least another three or four members of staff as queuing times are too long, tables are not cleared quick enough and the wait for hot food is becoming longer and longer each time i visit. I do note that no comments from management are ever posted on M&S reviews on trip advisor which makes me believe they are not interested in substandard service being offered to customers.
