After a recent visit, prices have gone through the roof. I realise prices have to go up but £15 per head for chicken and chips.....not great. Doesn't matter how tasty it is. Unfortunately we won't be back, just not worth the price. Review from 2024: Wow! Just wow. Went in for lunch because we'd heard good things. Got it home and we weren't disappointed. We got a chicken tikka naan kebab and a mixed grill naan kebab. It was packed with the most delicious food. So tasty and flavoursome. We will definitely be back.

If you’re in the mood for disappointment, frustration, and a severe case of buyer’s remorse, look no further than this so-called “curry house.” I honestly can’t believe a place like this still exists, and if you’re even remotely considering dining here, I urge you to keep walking. Or better yet, run. First, let’s talk about the payment system, or should I say, lack thereof. This place operates on a cash-only policy, which should have been my first red flag. In 2025, why are we still dealing with cash-only establishments? It feels less like a quirky throwback and more like a desperate attempt to avoid the IRS. Sure, it might be charming in some retro, nostalgic way… if you're a tax evader. Now, onto the food – or should I say, the nonexistent food, because the “service” here is a joke. My reservation was for 7 p.m., and yet when I arrived, they had apparently “overbooked” and couldn’t accommodate me for another 40 minutes. How does a professional business, in the restaurant industry, double-book not just once, but multiple tables in a single evening? It's beyond incompetent, and honestly, bordering on criminal. I waited like an idiot for my table, while watching others with reservations get shoved around like cattle. And when I finally sat down, after what felt like a lifetime, the curry I was served could only be described as “sad.” The meat was rubbery, the sauce bland, and the rice was as if it had been microwaved from the previous day. There was no trace of the bold, fragrant flavors I expect from a good curry house. Just a sad excuse for a meal that wasn’t worth the cash-only hassle. To add insult to injury, I couldn’t even take out my frustration with a quick swipe of a card. I had to scrape together exact change from my wallet like it was 1999. In conclusion: This place is a disgrace. The food is subpar, the service non-existent, and the whole operation screams “under the table” in a way that feels more like a scam than a legitimate business. There are so many other curry houses out there that won’t treat you like an inconvenience, so save yourself the headache and avoid this one at all costs.

Sky Apple is now known as ‘A Little Piece of Sky’ and the food here is great. I recently used A Little Piece of Sky to cater a party. I requested a vegan buffet, and it was so good that even the hardcore carnivores devoured it! There were a host of items to choose from and I went for onion bhajis, large spring-rolls, veg kebabs, falafels topped with hummus, olives and tomatoes, sausage rolls and a large vegan chocolate birthday cake. Everything was delicious and the portions were plentiful. The order was delivered on time and was beautifully presented on individual sealed trays which meant that all I had to do was remove the lids. The order and delivery were great value for money and the ordering and payment process with Andy, the owner, was very easy. I’m just waiting for an excuse to order catering from them again! I highly recommend A Little Piece of Sky. Thanks so much Andy. It was perfect!

The last time I was here in 2018, I gave it a 3 out of 5!!! This restaurant has greatly improved, the grumpy owner is out the way at the bar and his young workers are out on the floor doing the business. The place looks vibrant and has a relaxing feel. The food was fantastic and great value for money. Tasty and boiling hot!! Lovely young waitress who was on the ball and surpassed alot of waiters who have been in the business a lot of years. Not many Italians in Northumberland that are decent but this place is definitely up with the best ones.

Walking down Shields Road in Byker my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into The Old Post Office Pub ,a really good locals pub. A wonderful interior, tv's to enjoy the sport, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, a good old fashioned boozer. We were here on a Tuesday afternoon, pub was busy, we were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered a cider each, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and planned out the day ahead while sipping our cider's. On a hot afternoon a freezing cold cider certainly cut through the thirst, this cider was so tasty, so thirst quenching, a totally refreshing brew in a really good pub. We both really enjoyed our ciders in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Old Post Office Pub we had a great time. The Old Post Office Pub is easy to locate along Shields Road. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 10am till 11pm. Friday to Sunday, 10am till Midnight. A wonderful pub, one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area.
