The Old Post Office is a very lively pub that offer a well priced range of beers and was one of several pub's we visited in the Byker district of Newcastle. A proper local boozer that was really busy when we visited early in the afternoon and packed to the rafter's with many watching the horse racing and having a few pint's in this superb local boozer. The Old Post Office is unmissable as it has a Red Post Box as a pub sign and this pub has a red painted exterior. The inside has a traditional pub interior and superb seating options and we had no trouble looking for a seat. When here we had a Strongebow brewery cider which were very refreshing on a very warm day and well priced. The Old Post Office won't be to everyone's taste but I like pubs like this as they are full of local characters and local pubs like this are slowly disappearing across the Uk and whenever we get a chance we alway's visit these pubs as they bring me back to when I first started drinking in pubs. The Old Post Office is really easy to locate from Shields Road-Edwin Street bus stop it is a short walk.(This is my first review of the Old Post Office). Opening Hours. Monday-Thursday-10.00-23.00. Friday-Sunday-10.00-00.00. Nearest Bus Stop. Shields Road-Edwin Street bus stop.

Walking down Shields Road in Byker my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into The Old Post Office Pub ,a really good locals pub. A wonderful interior, tv's to enjoy the sport, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, a good old fashioned boozer. We were here on a Tuesday afternoon, pub was busy, we were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered a cider each, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and planned out the day ahead while sipping our cider's. On a hot afternoon a freezing cold cider certainly cut through the thirst, this cider was so tasty, so thirst quenching, a totally refreshing brew in a really good pub. We both really enjoyed our ciders in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Old Post Office Pub we had a great time. The Old Post Office Pub is easy to locate along Shields Road. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 10am till 11pm. Friday to Sunday, 10am till Midnight. A wonderful pub, one I highly recommend you visit if you're in the area.

Staff great as were the drinks but disappointed that, although they advertise free WiFi, this was actually no WiFi (although there used to be). Will not be coming back until this is rectified. Sorry :
