The Scenic Inn

Stranocum, Ballymoney
10/11/2018: Well what can I say, Fri 09 Nov was an absolute wash out with rain but to cheer ourselves up we went to the Scenic Inn for Lunch! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a very warm welcome as always! Fire so cosy and Stephen is just fabulous! Full of Craic and so attentive! Had the most beautiful lunch. Definitely recommend the chicken strippers. Gorg! The fry is also a must! The cheesecake is outstanding and not heavy! Snickers is my favourite but the raspberry ruffle is close behind! Love this place so much!! Lolv Rob and Claire. Ps Pop's was raging we went without her??? Xxx
07/11/2018: this small petite restaurant/bar is really excellent. found it by chance and have been back three times. the food is great the staff are as friendly and attentive as we have ever experienced. if you want to eat especially on a sunday it is essential that you book in advance because of its popularity and limited space

Harbour bar

Royal Portrush, Coleraine
27/01/2019: Never miss a chance to call in for a Guinness or two and see the delightful Willie, the best bar man in Europe. His wit and banter always make our night. It may be a small bar but packed with atmosphere and oh so friendly. Katrina was singing in the corner and belted our some fantastic tunes, all in all a cracking night as usual. Can’t wait to go back....
26/01/2019: We had a great meal in the restaurant and went into the bar for a night cap before home. Unfortunately one of our party took ill. The staff were absolutely tremendous they could not do enough to help in a trying situation. The bar and door staff knew exactly what they were doing and have obviously been well trained to deal with all situations. They are an absolute credit to the bar, you will be in safe hands there - thanks guys.

The Red Door Tea Room

Kinbane, Moyle
13/11/2018: The place itself is very cute and charming. The staff was friendly. We couldn't quite figure out if it was seat yourself or not. We kept getting weird looks from people. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. A great little stop on the way from one activity to the other. Unfortunately, they were out of the stew when we arrived.
09/11/2018: Called in on a wet Saturday afternoon and overall pretty good and unique quirky venue. Main complaint is the high prices so poor value for money. Bill was over £50 for 3 children and 4 adults. It was just soup, tea and children’s sandwich platters and couple slices of cake. Decent place but pricing is a deterrent

Glenaan, Moyle
12/02/2019: Been here a couple of times, great freshly caught seafood, scallops and sea bass were to die for! Great atmosphere with beautiful open fire making for a very cosy restaurant.
05/02/2019: Quick lunch stop by at Cushendall during our road trip! We’re from Portugal and we are experiencing new adventures in our vacation time. This was the best one, speaking of local food. Thank you so much for this, we highly recommend this restaurant!

Ardtara Country House Hotel Restaurant

Upperlands, Magherafelt
11/03/2019: We recently visited Ardtara restaurant for a six course dinner with matching wines for each course. A glass of prosecco with a hint of limoncello started the evening off. Followed at nicely spaced intervals by six delicious courses. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this evening for a lovely treat and we hope to return again in the very near future.
03/01/2019: We had been meaning to try Ardtara House on many occasions & wish we hadn't waited so long. We arrived and we were greeted by Joao, who kindly took us to the bar area, we ordered our drinks and took in the beautiful traditional surroundings of the house.

McConnells bar Doagh

Doagh, Newtownabbey, >100£
19/01/2019: Located in the tiny village of Doagh, just 2 miles from Ballyclare, this small and friendly country styled pub is well worth a visit.
04/01/2019: My wife and mother-in-law come here for lunch most Saturdays because the food is so good - sometimes they even let me come as well!! The food is excellent quality, offering a very good portion of home cooked food with a reasonable range of dishes. The staff are very friendly and little requests are met with an attitude: "of course we can do that!" - eg: Can I have the gravy served separately? This is an excellent place in which to have Ulster pub grub of the highest quality.

The Boatyard Coffee Shop Coleraine

Dundooan, Coleraine
01/02/2019: This place is just a hidden gem. Staff very polite and the food is just exceptional. Everything home made and very well presented on plate. Been here twice recently and can see it turning into my weekly treat. Well done to all the staff.
22/01/2019: The Boatyard has the most delicious food all created daily by co-owner Lorna. My favourite is warm chorizo salad with potato. Menu caters for all tastes from sandwiches and fresh beautiful soups to flatbreads with tender beef all sourced from local small businesses num, num!!! Lorna creates the most gorgeous scones and patisserie along with sumptuous cakes and pies. David, other co-owner has a zeal for their coffee which is superb. He is great craic and enjoys making sure people really enjoy their stayt. What I admire most about them is they strive for excellence in all they do with this business. Well worth a call, located just outside Coleraine set back beside river and idyllic countryside the Boatyard is so well worth a visit if you are in the area.

The French Rooms

Bushmills, Moyle, 20-30£
15/03/2019: This was a real find, quirky shabby chic French style cafe/restaurant. By far the best ever scones - lovely flavours, lemon nd white chocolate, hazelnut and chocolate - light and delicious. Food beautifully served, staff lovely, felt homey and inviting - right next to Bushmills Hotel on Main Street. Sad couldn’t eat evening meal there - was shut. Would def. recommend and will make a point of going back to eat in the evening a real gem of a place.
10/03/2019: This place is gorgeous! I decided to pop in whilst exploring Bushmills and was quietly surprised. The service was great, the staff were welcoming and helpful. The lemon drizzle cake was delicious and it filled the spot! The Irish coffee was made perfect! If you like a coffee which is truly Irish (as in you can taste the whiskey) then this is perfect! I’m so glad I stopped in. Sadly I have to leave but wish I could’ve tasted the dinner menu which no doubt would’ve been amazing too!

The Bank House Coffee Shop

Whitehead, Carrickfergus
18/02/2019: A homely place. Gr8 food, gr8 gifts, gr8 times. Well worth a visit. Local foid, run by local peole and frequented by the village locals. Thats the only endorsement required. Graham Poulter - february 2019
15/01/2019: My ‘go to’ place to meet friends for great coffee and flavoursome teas. The sandwich and soup combos are sensational and very reasonably priced too. No one shushing you along, staff are warm friendly and very obliging. Couldn’t rate this place highly enough!

The Bay Cafe

Dalriada, Moyle
20/02/2019: Fabulous food which is also excellent value. Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, they all look as if they thoroughly enjoy serving their customers. Beautiful location overlooking harbour and Fairhead, highly recommend.
18/02/2019: WOW, stopped here for a late lunch on a blustery Friday in Feb 2019. Lovely welcome through the door & lots of choice on the order board even at gone 2pm in the afternoon and the food served was fresh, tasty and value for money. Treat yourself to the Philly Steak Sandwich, you won't have room to finish the chips!

Rafters & Friels Bar

Swatragh, Magherafelt
11/12/2018: Called for a bite to eat and a pint .food delicious and Guinness excellent .well worth a visit to anyone passing through or going out with the family .
14/11/2018: Four of us called in for something to eat. Place was very busy with at least two big family celebrations happening. We were seated quickly, provided with menus and drinks, and when we ordered, were served soon afterwards. Menu was excellent and varied, and all our choices were really good. Bar service and food service were first class which contributed to a very pleasant dining experience. It had been ages since we had last dined here, I hope it's not as long until the next time.

District 45

Glebe, Magherafelt
15/01/2019: Friendly staff food is amazing. Good choice of menu and kids menu. My favourite place in magherafelt. Would recommend this place.
15/01/2019: Good deal for 3 for 20. Tasty and good atmosphere. Though would book in advance and can't stay too long

Whitehead Golf Club Restaurant

Blackhead, Carrickfergus
02/02/2019: Had a Christmas dinner here with a group of good friends. Before our meal we gathered to wait in another bar at the back of the building, one I had not seen before. Nice place to wait. The do very generous portions here, so the prawn cocktail was a tower of good stuff. The main course had loads of turkey and stuffing, dishes full of vegetables and boats full of gravy. I put my hand into the photo of my dessert to prove how tall it was. So you will not go hungry here. The food itself was very good. The service was very attentive, in spite of our numbers, and the numbers at other tables. Add an extraordinary view, and this is a great place to dine. Loads of free parking outside.
15/01/2019: Just like to say I had 3 Xmas dinners over December and enjoyed everyone .also had a couple of meals with friends.great food and friendly staff willing to help when needed. Good place to bring your friends and family .sr

The Anchor Bar Complex

Portstewart, Coleraine
03/12/2018: We stopped off here for an early dinner and it was a pleasurable experience. I opted for the chicken chorizo pasta and my wife the cod and chips. Very good quality food, served piping hot in generous portions. The wait-staff were pro-active and warm. This is a good choice for quick pub food in a pleasant ambiance. Well done to the staff - thank you for the great service and warm welcome
19/11/2018: My preference for drinking establishments is an old fashioned quaint pub with atmosphere. The Anchor lacks this because it's not that kind of pub, but it's location helps to exude the marine vibe. Dark wood, great staff, and a good pint, go a long way to making this a worthwhile visit.

Hopefield, Coleraine
03/03/2019: Called with my wife and Mother in law. cafe was busy on our arrival which of course is fine . however no staff even looked our direction - we were literally passed by, by a waitress. The atmosphere was dire but at this point I thought it was only me - then my mother in law said let’s get out of here this place is a disgrace. Don’t think I’ve ever walked out feeling so disappointed. No idea what the food was like as it never got that far - poorly done, poorly done indeed.
01/02/2019: Very homely tea room. Friendly and welcoming staff that cannot do enough to help. The biggest problem is what to pick from the menu, so many tasty delights to select from.
