I first visited 'cos I wanted coffee and it was the first place I spotted, but I've been back because the people behind the counter made me feel welcome. No other cafe I've stopped at has thought to offer to refil my water bottle. Next time I'm going for a breakfast bap :)

Merita! Tiziana Caremi Italia

The only issue I had was the sauce on the burger. It was a bit spicy. Also the delivery guy was lovely.

While the food was nice, we weren't thrilled. We booked based on the menu we saw online, but unfortunately, the dishes didn’t match what was advertised, and the prices had all increased. It’s disappointing because if we had known the actual menu, we would have chosen a different restaurant. The portion sizes have significantly decreased. We ordered the chicken supreme, which was decent, but the cauliflower sauce was a bit watery and didn’t complement the dish well. The much-touted butternut squash gnocchi? There were only three, and calling them gnocchi is generous—they bore little resemblance to the real thing. The plate also included just three pieces of carrot and a slice of zucchini, which left us quite shocked. For dessert, we tried the cheesecake tiramisu, but it was a letdown. The coffee on the ladyfingers was overly bitter and overwhelmed the other flavors. Given that we left still hungry, the bill felt excessive for what we received. Overall, it wasn’t worth it.

This restaurant was recommended by a local we happened to befriend and glad we followed his advice. The food and service were excellent! We happened to eat there on a Sunday and was able to use their "special" Sunday menu. Nice atmosphere and delicious meal. Recommended big time!

Very disappointing service and absolutely outrageous prices. Arrived for pre dinner drinks. As in any upmarket hotel anywhere in Ireland thought it reasonable to order a pint of Guinness and a cocktail. No draught Guinness so was offered a can instead. Politely declined. Ordered a bottle of Peroni and a cocktail. Peroni arrived about 5 minutes later, no bottle, already poured and flat. No sign of cocktail. It didn’t arrive until 15 minutes later. Cocktail was small and lacked flavour. Beer was already consumed at this stage as it was already close to flat on arrival. Very expensive, poor quality and poor and very slow service. To add to our woes incredibly a service charge of 10% was added. This is nothing more than a rip off and smacks of utterly complacent management at The Merchant. Belfast is nice but one of its apparently leading hotels simply can’t afford to systematically rip people off like this. We complained on check out as constructively as we could and the receptionist was gracious and professional in her approach. However we have no sense that there’s any chance of things changing and we will be studiously avoiding The Merchant in future.
