The goats cheese starter was out of this world and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting. The vegetable curry was probably the best curry I have ever had, which should showcase the magic of the chefs as this is not even an Indian restaurant. Keep up the great work and I look forward to visiting again!

I was here with family on a busy Tuesday evening at the beginning of October. I had the prawn soup type starter which was really nice but slightly disappointing in terms of the actual number of prawns in it, especially for the price. My rib eye steak was also nice but slightly tough. The duck main course looked fantastic though, as did the bang bang chicken. Service was very good and staff were very attentive. I also found the noise level in the restaurant to be a bit irritating due to the large group sitting behind us but there’s not much that can be done about that kind of thing. Overall a very good restaurant though.

Have to admit I didn't expect much but would be one of my go to restaurant if I lived in Belfast. Thought the layout was a bit odd, but it only added to its uniqueness. As you enter there are 3 or 4 partitioned areas with a larger open area at the back. We were shown to one of these snugs with 4 tables for two, and it added an intimate feel to the restaurant. Our waiter was welcoming and service was efficient but discrete throughout the evening. Menu was different from that online, so had much more to chose from. Settled for croquettes and venison, while my partner had bang bang chicken then steak, all were faultless. Would highly recommend dinner here

Food delicious, service first class, atmosphere is busy and vibrant. We ordered from the Pre -Theatre menu. I had the Goats cheese starter, my husband had the Bang Bang chicken, both were delicious. Main courses were Smoked Cod, and Beer Battered Fish, couldn't fault it. Friendly and efficient staff. It's always a pleasure to dine here.

Visited Howard street sat12th October. Food was lovely. Only thing was waitress who mainly looked after us. Dark hair scraped back in tight bun I think. Literally no personality at all. She would definitely need to be trained on customer service. Even though food was excellent it's her service that sticks in my head. Will not put me off going back.

The food and service here is great! The Howard Street French Martini is dangerously delicious. My husband and I tried the beef croquetas for an appetizer. And for our main entrees, we had the fish and chips and Barbury Duck Breast. For dessert, we shared the chocolate orange brownie. We left no crumbs behind! Service was impeccable- we didn’t get the name of our waiter but he was an older gentleman - in fact, he might’ve actually been the only waiter that night and handled all his guests very well. Of note, we arrived at around 5:30pm on a Tuesday night and we were offered 2 different menus- an a la carte menu (which we wound up ordering from) and a prix fix/pre-theatre menu (which is a very good deal and is offered between 5pm-6pm).

Arrived on time for our 5 pm booking, we were seated promptly. We ordered from the set course pre- dinner menu. We were the 2nd table to be seated. Our drinks & starters arrived after a short while - fish cakes, goats cheese, scallops - all delicious. We then waited over an hour for our main courses. Cod, monkfish curry, chicken - all were again delicious . We had to chase up our mains & had very limited time to finish dessert (ordered at the start of the meal), the delays resulted in us needing to take a taxi and being 15 minutes late for the ice hockey game we had tickets for. The restaurant filled up quickly & I think our order got lost in the queue. Disappointing on the night, will try it again on a different day when I don’t have anywhere else to get to. Took 2 hours, no real acknowledgment of the delay.

Les desserts, mélanges des goûts et d’acidité des fruits, mangue, passion, adoucit avec une petite couche de chocolat blanc : un délice. Pudding chocolat noisettes et relevé avec un caramel : sublime. We had a very enjoyable family dinner here. The cooking style is modern British and very well executed. I started with spicy fishcakes in a very flavoursome broth, followed by well executed chicken and proper chips as a side. The hake main course was also well appreciated by my table. Service was friendly, attentive and prompt. The bill came to about £40 per head including wine.

We took the theatre menu with a few supplements. Starters of Bang Bang Chicken and Scallops were excellent as were the mains (Beef cheek and Cod). All very tasty. My wife had the cheeseboard and I had the Howard Street Tiramisu, which was unlike any I'd ever had before - very chocolatey, heavy, no booze. If you're expecting an Italian Tiramisu don't bother. It would be 5* but for the Tiramisu.

The food is delicious although very small portions and the service is fast and efficient. What entirely ruined our meal however was being stuck in what fees like a glorified hallway that’s completely void of any atmosphere. The restaurant is located in a very busy touristy area, and we were lucky to get a table for 6. The food was excellent and there was a nice wine/beer list. One person in our party felt it was the best meal they had ever eaten! Of the 6 meals 2 had portions that were very small. I would say the chicken piece was about 2-3 ounces, and cost 24 Euros. The Fish and Chips was a good portion and cost 20 Euros. So it is expensive, and a 10% gratuity was added on because we were a table of 6 (this was stated on the menu). There were 2 issues. Number 1, the bathroom was filthy. The floor was flooded and covered in water so you had to hold your pant legs up. We reported it but apparently there was a lack of staff on duty that night and they couldn't get to it. Also the server told us she could separate the bills at the end, but ended up just giving us the total bill and telling us to individually add up what we ate and drank.

Good selection of drinks and they were served in nice glassware. The gluten free options were quite limited, which was disappointing - especially if you're vegetarian. My starter and dessert were good, but the main was very underwhelming. Another member of the group also said their vegetarian main was a bit on the small slide. Overall a good experience, and some small improvements to the food would make it a five star.

Nice classic interior with mini wood rooms/ partitions for more private dining. Main dinin area with a nice bar with seating and wood panelling and quite low lighting. The long leather seats need attention as cracks were tapped up and was uncomfortable to sit on. 2/3 course pre theatre looked appetising but was in a mood for something light, was good value too for £28&£36(2/3 courses) . Ordered the starters of cods cheeks tempura on the Ala carte menu with a caper based sauce. The sauce was rather intense and overpowered the cod. Cod was cooked well not overly battered and the cod itself very spicy! Negroni was good, the glass was full of ice with limited the volume of alcohol For £11! Not busy on a Friday evening at 6pm. Service was average, not particularly warmed and very much task based. Waited awhile for the bill.

Really lovely experience and delicious food. The tempura scampi, scallops, duck and curry all highly recommended. The tiramisu was a little heavy and gritty (perhaps that’s in keeping with tradition but not my taste) but the crème brûlée was just about as good as it gets. Our table near the wine cellar was well located. Tip: when booking make sure they don’t seat you in one of the two booths near the door which is very cut off from the rest of the restaurant. The tables here at the till and welcome point would be fine if you have 4 or 5 in your party but a bit lonely if you’re dining as a pair

Consistently excellent meals at Howard Street. Up there with some of the best meals I have had. I've been a few times now and each time, I'm floored by the food. Special mention to the duck main and the sticky toffee bread and butter pudding- both of these are divine. Considering the quality, it's also excellent value for money. We have had meals in Six by Nico and ended up having rubbish food and having to eat another meal that evening- no such worries at Howard Street. Only suggestion is the reception manager might do with being a little friendlier, she seems very curt whenever we have visited. Other staff are wonderful.

The food and surroundings in this restaurant are great. However, it is difficult to find a dish which does not contain curry powder. I ordered the chicken supreme as I thought it would be quite plain. There were a couple of mushrooms on the plate which had an overpowering amount of either curry powder or black pepper. This was a pity as the rest of the meal was very nice. Simple, well cooked ingredients are enough on their own without being doused in curry powder. Also there was no allergy information on the menu. Other than that the food was nice and the staff friendly.

We visited to have the pre theatre offering just after it opened at 5pm. The restaurant was empty apart from one other customer and, despite there being a whole host of empty tables, were seated on the next table. These were in a line with a banquette on one edge and feel we could have had a one table gap between us. The menu offered two or three courses at a set price with supplements for certain dishes and a glass of house wine or cocktail for an additional £6.50. Our food was hot and plentiful, although my husband’s chips appeared to have a tough coating on them. He was told they were triple cooked and offered a replacement but he declined. My “fish of the day” was devine. The waiter was efficient and attentive and very accommodating. We didn’t feel rushed and left in perfect time for the curtain up. Howard Street is beautifully decorated and clearly very popular as it filled up steadily whilst we were there. The music was just a tad loud but this wasn’t quite so intrusive when there more more people in. Would we go back? Definitely. The food was delicious, a good portion size and represented excellent value for money.

Our first time in Belfast and first meal. We all concluded that it would be a hard meal to beat! It was fantastic! I had the seafood chowder to start, (beautifully rich and heady with seafood richness). My partner had tge parsnip soup and said...

Have had the Howard St. experience many times now, and, it is well worth the visit. The restaurant is very old meets modern, smart/ casual, I have never felt out of place wearing a dinner dress, or trainers. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating and attentive, no matter where you are seated, as some of the seating areas are off the main floor, but, you are always remembered! And, the food is exquisite! I have enjoyed every meal I have ever had here, the chicken, the pork, the duck, the scallops. The menu is diverse and different every time, and each time, is a flavour exploration! Book a table and enjoy your time in this wonderful gem, and have dessert, it's all excellent!

My only issue with Howard Street is getting through the door. We arrived at 4:50 and the restaurant refused entry until 5 pm. There was a queue of people waiting to enter, surely they would be happier inside and having a cocktail than standing outside,...

Worst fry I’ve ever had. Ordered on Uber today, which came to £14. When the food arrived, it was a small portion—not even worth a tenner, in my opinion. Like, seriously? £14 for that? Then I began eating. The black pudding tasted smoky and awful—so bad that my dog didn’t even want to eat it. The mushrooms tasted disgusting, same with the beans. Everything was just a letdown and not worth the money. I suggest going to The Peppercorn or ordering from Peppercorn Café on the Woodstock Road if you want a fry, because their fry’s are amazing, unlike this. Don’t order a fry from here—the price is extortionate, and the food tastes awful.
