The best restaurants serving British food in Pontefract South Wakefield Yorkshire and The Humber

Greeted with a smile by friendly staff who were only too happy to take us to our reserved table. They asked if we had any special requirements, allergies etc. They were so attentive throughout, we were allowed to eat our meals in peace without being disturbed. The only downside to the evening was the fact my husband has sensory issues which we were catered for by way of a quiet area but some adults allowed their children to run around screaming which made us leave early. The staff and manager were in no way to blame for this as it is a family friendly establishment but it would have been nice if the parents of the children showed a little respect for others dining this evening. The meal was superb, my steak cooked to perfection, my husband said the mini trio of pies was amazing too compliments to the chef. Mrs Kay illingworth 6pm booking 17/02/24

The room was excellent, the bed was so comfortable! The room was clean with plenty of tea and coffee supplies provided. The check in process was easy and every member of staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and very good quality, as a tea drinker I loved that there was a large variety of teas available. I would 100% stay again, next time we will be trying one of the theme or tribute nights.

Took parents for a nice lunch !! Definitely dissatisfied to say the least .The menu didn’t coincide to what’s on the web site asked for 3 different items on menu non of which were available. The food eventually arrived after 35 mins of waiting ordered 2x soup and small sandwich and one Yorkshire pudding with sausage, the soup and sandwich came out first all on one large plate presentation 0% some prawns where still frozen! Cold soup which I returned to member of staff the reply was is it !! No apology to come out the second time no hotter than it was before! Sausage and Yorkshire pudding arrived 10 mins after our soup and sandwiches to my mum had already finished eating.No one came to see if everything was ok after we had finished sat for about 15 mins with plates still on table decided to go pay I said about issues we had she replied with ok I will let them know still no apology!! No goodbye or thank you as we left But the best thing about it was there was only our table in does that say anything or what Avoid !!! ☹️

Always excellent at the Spread. The staff are so helpful and friendly. The menu is great and the specials are always very appealing. We have been visiting about once a month for the last 2 years and I can honestly say we have loved it every time!

You have an impressive vegan menu. I had the plant based fish and chips. It was absolutely delicious, followed by the apple crumble and ice cream. The rest of the family had the Beyond burgers and chocolate torte. We will definitely be regular customers now. Service was excellent and it was such good value for money.

Dirty bacon, slimy eggs, non-pork sausage and oily hash browns. Must I say anymore. Top 5 worst breakfasts ever. However, I suppose you get what you pay for as it was dirt cheap. Literal dirt.

Send today and not even open - no sign of the cafe, I can only assume this cafe is not open anymore.
