Took parents for a nice lunch !! Definitely dissatisfied to say the least .The menu didn’t coincide to what’s on the web site asked for 3 different items on menu non of which were available. The food eventually arrived after 35 mins of waiting ordered 2x soup and small sandwich and one Yorkshire pudding with sausage, the soup and sandwich came out first all on one large plate presentation 0% some prawns where still frozen! Cold soup which I returned to member of staff the reply was is it !! No apology to come out the second time no hotter than it was before! Sausage and Yorkshire pudding arrived 10 mins after our soup and sandwiches to my mum had already finished eating. No one came to see if everything was ok after we had finished sat for about 15 mins with plates still on table decided to go pay I said about issues we had she replied with ok I will let them know still no apology!! No goodbye or thank you as we left But the best thing about it was there was only our table in does that say anything or what Avoid !!! ☹️

Totally unorganised for our wedding party.!, No Food! Staff were not to blame for this, it was lack of manager being present and no communication to staff of our booking for a party of 17. Thank you to staff who were there to cobble together a few toasted sandwiches for the wedding party. You were great and should not have been in this position.

Went for lunch today at the Kyte it took 45 mins to arrive considering we were the only ones dining it was a long time . When the food arrived it was cold so sent it back to the kitchen after another 30 mins we cancelled the food . I was then told it was coming out and we would not have to pay for it , we could not believe we only had two pieces of chicken in curry . It was a joke so sent it back refused to eat it would not recommend eating there . There excuse was they were prepping for Sunday lunch so obviously we were not important enough to them to provide a decent meal .

Fabulous food on a cracking and varied menu. A new name and a new experience, really well renovated making for a really relaxed atmosphere and highly enjoyable dining experience. From the moment we walked in we were greeted in a friendly and professional manner by the front of house, Darren. Loved the variety on the menu and we all had a different dish for each course. All fabulous food and beautifully presented. One of our party described the cheesecake as “the best cheesecake I have ever tasted”. Will definitely be going back soon. Highly recommended.

This place has had so many owners and/or chefs over the last decade and none have done it any favours- until now. Now the Gallimores have it, and after a tentative trip last night for my son's bday I can confirm it is now in great hands. An extensive, interesting and varied menu, great service and food that didn't disappoint. Really pleased for them - we'll be back.

We were invited to a friends family member 90th birthday celebration and was asked well in advance for our menu choice The restaurant is lovely and well presented My partner had ordered the soup and when it arrived the bread roll was floating in the soup and the butter was squashed in between the dish and the plate However as there was quite a few of us we said nothing and just got on with eating I had ordered the lasagne which was presented lovely but could have been hotter and my partner had fish and chips and only got 4 chips All in all I think it could have been better as they had our order well in advance and there was no need to rush to cook it and the portions could have been better

After booking for a table for six at 10am the same day for lunch, we were met by waiter saying there was no fish no scampi no lasagne, after choosing from what little was left on the menu three of our party who ordered pie were then told there was no pie left, lunch is from 12-4pm we arrived at 1 30pm so it wasn't as if it was late we were also told the fryer wasn't working like a previous reviewer. The poor waiter was so apologetic and felt for him, wasn't his fault so no point in having a go at him he tried his best. The management really need to address this. We decided to try elsewhere, on the plus side our drinks were on the house, such a shame as it is a lovely place.

Meal took ages to come & had to send one back as hard eggs & 'homecooked chips' which were frozen French fries were cold. Meal was poor but at least we got food as another table of 8 people ended up leaving as they were told most of items on the menu had run out. On the plus side the staff serving were good but I won't be going back anytime soon

My wife and I had never been to the Kyte Hotel before and using an internet search, picked it for somewhere to eat, before attending a concert nearby later that evening. It was suggested we try their Festive Afternoon Tea and we were not disappointed. The hotel was clean, quiet and the service excellent. The food was very good - in fact there was more than enough to the point where we were offered boxes to take home what was left which we did. Looking at some of previous reviews which are less than complimentary I can only say that this was not our experience and based on what we observed of the hotel layout and the food we enjoyed, we would have no hesitation in recommending afternoon tea at the Kyte

We have known the Kyte for many years(since opening in fact) and we have had some excellent experiences there with lovely meals. We have also experienced it recently and there is no comparison. Staff are ok but not as professional. In the evenings there seems to be a complete lack of good supervision. We have had two recent meals there. A few weeks ago we waited a long time and when the food came my wife's was good but mine was inedible/burnt - we were told that a new chef had started ( obviously not a good one)- remedied by staff. This week we decided to give it another go but the wait ( despite there only being four diners in the restaurant) was far too long. We were told this time that only one chef was on that evening - (they only needed one chef for so few diners.)The food when it came was disappointing. There is some good competition in the area and the Kyte in going down hill in our opinion - reflected by the very few diners on the occasions we have been there. The owners may wonder why- they should be there in the evenings to view what is going on. A great pity because it used to be so good. We can only think there will be a demise soon.Though it is on our door step, we will not be giving it another chance, unfortunately.

I organise "Lunches Out" for fellow residents at Rosewood Court which is a retirement complex in Leeds. I am always looking for new venues where we can enjoy a traditional 3 course lunch in pleasant surroundings. Having, some years ago, been taken to the Kyte Hotel for a birthday lunch by my son and daughter in law I contacted the hotel for a copy of their lunch menus. I was amazed to find that they did lunch for Senior Citizens at a cost of £11.95 for three courses plus tea or coffee. Last Friday we were short on numbers but four of us decided to give it a try. It was fantastic. The food was delicious and well presented. The service was friendly and efficient and the surroundings very pleasant. It is certainly a venue we will be revisiting. I noticed that there were other menus which younger people should find interesting. For travellers on the A1 going either North or South the Hotel is ideally placed for a stop off for refreshment.

Although I hadn't previously visited The Kyte, I suggested it to a friend as a place for us to meet for a coffee and a catch-up on his journey north on the A1. First impressions count and I was most impressed by the décor and warm ambience. At 3pm we were the only ones in the Brasserie My friend had stopped earlier for lunch but as I hadn't had any lunch I ordered a hot beef and onion baguette along with our coffees. The coffee was good - although served in a pot for us to pour ourselves would have been more convenient than it arriving in cups. The baguette (served with a small green leaf side salad) took a little time to arrive but it was SO worth it! The baguette itself was fresh, warm and crusty, and the tender hot beef and onion filling was generous. We had a second cup of coffee each before parting company. Our waiter was courteous, well-groomed and smartly dressed. As The Kyte is only a 20 minutes' drive from where I live I'll certainly be returning as the lunch menu listed some lovely dishes! After the meal my friend told the waitress that the steaks were awful and that they had all left some steak. No offer was made as an apology. Our four desserts took even longer to arrive! When one of our party went to pay the bill no offer of a reduction was made for the steaks. Very disappointing evening not to be repeated.

Although the staff were quite friendly (except for the two rather frosty waitresses at the evening event) there was a lot of things wrong with the room we stayed in mostly to do with the bathroom. There was no plug in the sink (we had to go to reception to obtain one), the shower had hardly any pressure and the bath was cracked in several places. The food at the evening event was good however and the drinks were reasonably priced.

We eat there regularly and its always reliable. They obviously have a couple of chefs, because some times it is better than others, but we have never had a bad experience. Its a great location - less than a minute from the A1, but usually not a lot of road noise. There is also ample outdoor space so we often take the dogs with us.

We last visited in 2010 when the food was absolutely fantastic. Sadly our recent visit did not compare. The portions were tiny and meat portions were a joke. It is such a shame that the food has gone downhill as it is a lovely place and the staff are very nice. We won't be returning as we all had stomach issues afterwards.

Great value for money.I had the French onion 'soup of the day',which remained warm throughout the meal and it was extremely delicious. The mains portions were very large which was OK for my husband but not suitable for my elderly father in law... they asked us for feedback and we advised it would be good to have some smaller portions available... they were happy to receive the feedback too. Service was very good.We will certainly be going again for our next special occasion. It has never faulted in all the years we have been going. 5* again guys x

After reading some of the other reviews I admit I was fearing we might not have such a great meal, but as this was a reunion of friends, I hoped it would be ok.There were only three tables in use by 12.30 which told its own story.Four of us ordered 'Proper' fish, chips and mushy peas and one ordered a salad. It took quite a while for the order to arrive and when it did, the peas were not on the plates as they were coming separately, which they did several minutes later with the food already getting cold. What arrived was a huge bowl of garden peas, not mushy as stated in the menu. I enquired about the mushy peas at which point the waitress fetched a menu to check and then asked if we still wanted mushy peas, which I did. Another 5 minutes passed and out came a large bowl of mushy peas.My fish was dry and over cooked, it had bones in it plus a large piece of hard fin. It didn't taste particularly nice either. The chips also had a less than pleasant taste. So sadly this was yet another disappointing meal here so I am afraid I will not return.

I must say before anything else the staff are very friendly and accommodating, probably the reason why we didn't complain, but on hindsight we should have.We { husband and I } decided to go to The Kyte for lunch, it is quite easy to get to from where we live, and as we didn't feel like travelling too far on a bank holiday,it seemed ideal. It worried us a bit when we arrived as it was around one and it was dead, but we decided to look at the menu, which was quite varied. As we were looking a few more people arrived so we decided to stay, the beer was nice so we were looking forward to a good meal.My husband plumped for a 20 oz steak with all the trimmings I went for a cajun chicken salad with pitta bread, hummus and a side of chips. My husbands steak was no way near 20 oz it was thin and tough, also not rare liked he'd asked for. My lettuce had seen better days, limp even the one's not warmed up by the hard dry chicken, hummus and bread were nice, chips ok, bit greasy. I could not finish mine far too many peppers and lettuce. We were really disappointed, it wasn't cheap and think we could have got a better meal at a cheap pub chain, needless to say will not be returning.

A nice meal spoiled by the vinegar bottle being full of flies...shame qe had all used it on our food and started eating before we spotted it. No apology, no discount, no omg, just 'I'll change it, it always happens when they've been muckspreading''. We won't be back to find out....shame we could have put a lot of business their way, too!

Great Staff, food we had was good and wholesome. But the beds in the 3 rooms we booked are just knackered and need to be burned. They need to change the beds urgently If yo can not get a good nights sleep what is the point of staying here. Would not return for that reason.

It started badly. When I called to ask if it was serving lunch the person on the phone couldn't tell me but passed me on to someone else. When we got there the tables were all set for Xmas Day (it was Xmas Eve) with just two set without tablecloths for today's lunch time guests. The service wasn't exactly over-enthusiastic and although there's a full menu much of what was on offer was frozen. I had the leek and ham and blue cheese pie which certainly tasted of blue cheese but was short on leeks and unfortunately the pastry was not cooked through. The wife's sea bass was OK but the 'oriental broth' that went with it was a little short on taste. And the coffee machine was out of action! On the plus side: a fair selection of wines by the glass (but why wasn't I given the wine card when I asked bout them?) and the free wifi is automatic. It looks like a good establishment with plenty of investment in the environment. It's a pity it let itself down today. I got the impression they weren't interested but wanted to get on with tomorrow.

First time I have been the the Kyte hotel I suppose it is a slightly obscure location. The facilities for the meeting were great tea and coffee and Wifi. The food was served at lunch time, for me my only criticism would be the size of the portions for the money.

We visited this Hotel/Restaurant by accident and were very impressed by the food and service. The only downside was that it was very quiet but it was a Monday lunchtime. My husband and brother-in-law had an amazing Ploughman's - excellent good quality ingredients all looking lovely and fresh very well presented. Not only at least 2 types of cheese but also a hand raised pork pie, egg mayonnaise, chicken, chips and salad! My sister-in-law has various food allergies and nothing was too much trouble. The waitress even got the chef to write down all the ingredients in the salad dressing! The menu had a good choice and I would have liked to have returned one evening but alas we live a 3 hour car journey away!

Me and a friend shared a room for the night before our friends wedding. On the Friday night we and other friends had to 2 for £30 meal offer. The food was absolutely amazing!!! I even ate the salad and I hate salad! I had heard that drinks were very expensive and I am pretty tight with money but to be honest I found the bar prices pretty reasonable! The room : I found the room totally fine. Bed was very comfortable , I slept like a log, I was very impressed that extra pillows were in the wardbrobe as I can't sleep low down. There was a tele but we didn't have time to try that, kettle and drinks in the ro with my favourite biscuits ever Lotus caramelised :) The bathroom was huge for a hotel bathroom! All staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay and the wedding. Breakfast was amazing too. I look forward to eating there again

I've stayed at the kyte Hotel on a couple of occasions when visiting Yorkshire for business meetings. It is usefully situated just off the A1 and very handy for travellers. The rooms were clean and comfortable and good value. Staff were very helpful on both occasions. My sister joined me for an evening meal in the restaurant which proved to be enjoyable.

I recently visited the Kyte Hotel restaurant (Wednesday 1st April), luckily I had my tastecard as I certainly would not have paid for my meal.My sister and I both ordered Homemade Nachos (at £3.50 Each) – which I must say were excellent, my sister ordered the Kyte Burger (approx. £11) – which again looked and her feedback was excellent.I unfortunately ordered the Pork Belly (at £12+) which I immediately sent back:The Pork was overcooked, dry and tastelessThe ‘Crushed’ Potatoes included a ‘old’ roast potato and a random semi warm new potato Vegetables that that obviously has been pre-cooked (not very well) and then heated in the microwave (again not very well)The Jus was a floury thick ‘sauce’ that was drizzled around the edge that again was horridThe waitress apologised immediately and asked what I would like instead – which I ordered the Mushroom Risotto from the starter menu (can’t really go wrong with this – or so I thought...)My sister actually finished her meal, plates cleared and waited for another 10/15mins before I saw my meal, this was equally as disappointing:The rice and mushrooms were lovely, however from some strange and unknown reason it had fresh and cooked cherry tomatoes in it (which I’m allergic to) – but never thought to mention this as I’ve never known Mushroom risotto to have tomatoes in it – then if that wasn’t strange enough it also contained ‘chunks’ of sweet Wensleydale cheese with Cranberry’s – which left the most horrid aftertaste in my mouth.Safe to say I didn’t enjoy my meal.I have e-mailed with this feedback - so I will update if/when I get a reply...

We had a two course meal at the Kyte this evening, with one drink each. The food was really quite poor quality, and very very salty! I had the garlic mushrooms as starter which were ok but not very flavoursome, I had the ham leek and mushroom pie as a main course, which was terrible. It had a flaky pastry top, although I was assured by the waiter it had a shortcrust top, it was the saltiest thing I have ever eaten in my entire life, it was foul, the had cut chips were over cooked and soggy due to reheating. My partner had the chicken skewer for starter, very poor and lacking in flavour. He had a mixed grill for mail course, with a peppercorn sauce, some times were missing from the mixed grill the first time it arrived at the table, we had to send it back as the steak was rare not medium as requested, it arrived complete the second time but everything was so greasy it wasn't an enjoyable meal. Definitely won't be visit again, it was a waste of good ones and an evening out!
