The best restaurants serving British food in Wolds North East Lincolnshire Yorkshire and The Humber

We’ve had a wonderful visit to Firethorn Cottage today for afternoon tea, as a large family group for Mother’s Day. What a little gem of a place. We were very well looked after, with the children catered for wonderfully as well. The savoury and sweet delights were mouthwatering and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks so much :)

Love it here, whether its just for a coffee or something more, delicious sandwiches, and mouthwatering cakes, theyre to die for!! Also a good take away service and very good efficient staff, they made me feel really welcome as was feeling poorly and in need of some comfort and a good hot tasty soup, to warm me up. Dog friendly and cosy will definitely be a regular customer here for life as I love the chilled out atmosphere.

So it’ll be actually our second visit in this place , beautiful setting , the restaurant has good ambience and the food is great . The only negative that I can say is the attitude of one of the waitress, she sat us down on our table and the table is wobbly . My husband has asked for some tissue to balance the table but that didn’t worked. I suggested if she can move us table but she said that they are fully booked, I then said that ,Is she expecting us to eat on a wobbly table and she said yes !!! The same waitress who kept insisting that they don’t served bottled water Despite this we had a lovely dinner , it’s just unfortunate that this waitress lack customer service

Lovely homemade fish cakes on the fish cake special and you get two!!! Polite and helpful staff with a quick service too.

Sourdough with starter was like a rock, tried to cut, all over the table. Main course fish was average. Main course was lukewarm, cous cous was cold and clumpy, flat bread was like cardboard, salad was fine! Expensive, didn’t complain but would never return or recommend

Excellent service especially from David the food was lovely fabulous thank you to all the staff at the Farmhouse who made are visit enjoyable. We will definitely be calling back for more.

Few days away in the area and The Ship Inn was 2 villages down from where we are staying - popped in for lunch which was superb. Very friendly staff, food was fantastic and it was lovely and warm on a dreary October Monday.
