Was pleasantly surprised by this lovely little village chippy, proper old fashioned home made fishcakes are delicious and the fishcakes special is an absolute bargain at £3.30 for two fishcakes and portion of chips. The chips were great too, not anaemic like some other places seem to serve. The menu choice isn’t vast, no pies on offer but the chap frying was pleasant and jolly, not at all miserable like previous reviews stated and the two young ladies serving were also very pleasant. He also sells the fishcakes for frying at home should you choose, what a great idea! Well worth a visit and our new go to chippy

Foods not bad but can you ask the staff to smile !! Especially the woman who barks at the customers would help with a personality !!

Called in for a quick lunch time takeaway the food was nice but the service awful. When ordering I forgot to ask for it open so quickly asked the assistant for it to be put on a tray. Well that's when the customer service turned into some of the worst I've ever experienced with the owner (Mick) and his assistant grunting and groaning as if I had asked for the world! I asked for a plastic fork she said we charge for the tray and fork (which I expected to pay for) they then started nudging each over and pulling sarcastic faces as another reviewer as stated they reminded me of the two grumpy muppets in the balcony on the Muppets show! Such a shame as the food is really good. I will never return.

Haddock and chips with mushy peas. Fish and batter were absolutely outstanding, the best I’ve had!! Chips ok , a bit soft but my goodness, the battered fish was perfection! Well worth a trip for food value, excellent takeaway!

Visited lately with my partner and due to illness we don't have very big appetites so we tend to ask for fish and chips but share over 2 trays, We pay for extra tray and what not..which is what we always ask for and never have a problem normally. The man that served me was very rude and sarcastic which was uncalled for,he seriously needs to take up a course in customer service! I've also noticed he nudges his staff saying about portion sizes giving customers the minimal as possible. I certainly won't be visiting again.

Recommend the large fish (haddock of course!), usually freshly cooked to order. Good food, good portions, friendly service.

We were staying in Laceby and typically Friday night sourced a chip shop. We had two fish suppers and two sausage and chips. The meals looked a little well cooked however when eating them the meals where cooked beautifully. A lovely little chip shop well worth a try.

This is a lovely little chippy. Only been a couple of times and each time had fish cake and chips. The fish cakes are homemade with the right proportion of fish to potato with the correct pinch of herbs added. The batter is crisp and light and the chips are lovely too. Today it was new potatoes, and they were cooked to perfection. It is definitely worth a visit

Great local fish and chips always served with pleasent staff. If you live closeby its great and also worth a detour off the A46, with off-road parking directly outside, ideal for a quick stop. Usually have good value offers, which are great for families.

I visited Micks Plaice In Caistor on a bank holiday Monday. the fish I ordered was cooked fresh and was lovely, but the chips and fishcakes tasted like they had been stood since opening time. The chips were a mixture of hard, chewy/rubbery and not cooked properly. The fishcakes from the great value £1.75 Fishcake special were just warm, and also a bit 'chewy'. I think the lack of customers on a Banks holiday Monday contributed to my disappointing tea !!! Good job there's another chippie in town (unfortunately closed on Mondays.

The same as many others, gutted that the place is changing to a Premier Inn guests only restaurant, seriously bad move. The place is busy nearly every serving We have even been for Christmas dinner for the last 10 years or so as well as breakfasts and tea times Please rethink this ridiculous decision

We visited to commemorate my Stepfather’s 80th Birthday after he passed away in 2022. He was born in Cleethorpes and as a child looked through the windows of this hotel with his brother saying that one day they would stay here. They both lived to experience staying here, and it is now our privilege to carry on this tradition. The hotel is beautiful, traditional and spotlessly clean. We dined in the restaurant and found the food and service impeccable. We look forward to returning next year…. And every year after.

My husband and I arrived at 1250 to be greeted with “have you booked?” As passing trade but living local we hadn’t realised you had to book and we were informed by a member of staff that they were really popular so tables get booked quickly but she would take a look. We noticed two tables free both seating 4, one in the corner and one set inbetween two other tables. The member of staff informed us that the corner table we had placed our things on was booked at 1:30 but we could have the one set inbetween the other tables and the one where everyone knocked into when passing. I told her we would be done quickly anyway so not to worry. My latte came and I had drunk it before my cake arrived, my husbands’ Americano was very weak but was hot, his cheesecake was tasty all the same and my Victoria sponge equally tasty. Within 15mins a table of 6 was cleared and made available and the table that we originally had chosen was offered as a “choice of where would you like to sit” to customers who had booked. We have eaten in some lovely places and had coffee in some nice settings but have never felt as uncomfortable or unwelcome before. I would say that if passing trade isn’t welcome then put bookings only on your page would be helpful, so customers who feel It would be lovely to drop by and support a local business don’t.
