I haven’t been for a few years but made a last minute decision to call for lunch today. The welcome on arriving along with excellent customer service & assistance for my mum from Lisa made this a great experience. The food was excellent despite them being very busy. We will definitely be back soon. Definitely worthy knowing of the side access for anyone with mobility issues.

We just had the pleasure of staying here at the Millfields Hotel. All the staff are great, Gareth on reception is very helpful and as we arrived early evening we had a meal in the restaurant. The friendly and attentive Mandy and Lisa ( thanks for the recommendations ) made it an evening to remember. Not forgetting the great food put on by the chef!! The rooms were a good size, clean, comfortable and quiet! Great shower too! We would definitely go out of our way to stay here again! A big thanks to everyone (including those behind the scenes )for making it a nice place to stay!

We had not been for a few years, so we called in for tea, menu limited, but had something we liked, meals were hot and well presented, chicken and pasta and scampi and chips. Would suggest that the set menu needs looking at. Nothing tempted us, which was a shame.

Always stay here when we are in town. Staff are always friendly and helpful on arrival. Plenty of parking around the back. Rooms and hotel are a little tired and dated and still strange to be using a physical key to enter the room. SHower was warm and the bed comfortable so what more can you ask. Except air-con maybe? But good value and will stay here again.

What makes this hotel stand out is the amazing, welcoming staff. They are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are a little dated, but comfy and have what you need, really what you would expect from a building of this age. I stayed in a coach house room adjacent to the hotel and it was a lovely big room with a big comfy bed! There was no noise so I have had the best nights sleep. The restaurant in the hotel has a limited menu but it is definitely quality over quantity as the portions are generous and the food is delicious!! This is the second time I have stayed here and I will definitely be returning the next time I am working in Grimsby.

The staff are super helpful and attentive. The food was excellent. The corridors need a fresh lick of paint, the yellowy wallpaper and fusty smell in the corridors isn't pleasant. Menu changes regularly enough that it keeps you interested and has something for everyone. The bar menu is great with an exceptional fish and chips. The 2 course or 3 course menu is a different level. Well thought out and executed by a gifted team. We travel a lot and this is probably the best hotel restaurant food we’ve had. Service is efficient and so friendly. They really can’t do enough for you. The cheese and crab soufflé on the menu at the moment is the best ever but honestly, it’s all excellent.

The staff are exceptional and consistently ask if there is anything they can do for you which is a wonderful thing to see as you don’t often get this high quality service in Lincolnshire. Compliments to the staff for doing their best in what seems like a difficult time for Millfields. After staying in this hotel many times, over various years, a refresh must be on the cards! It should be noted that as from 31st July 2023 LUNCH WILL NO LONGER be served; apparently to unforeseen circumstances and lack of staff. Correspondence between hotel and myself were not impressive, despite booking directly thru the Millfields site 9 months prior. Staying in the “carriage house” as I requested prior to check in was not confirmed until arrival. My request was acknowledged on arrival. Room was on bottom floor. Room #10. Pls be aware this room is DAMP and there is mold in the corner by the bed nearest the wall.

We were part of an 18-strong lunch party celebrating a family wedding anniversary. We had starters, mains, and deserts that all had to be pre-ordered due to the size of our group. The menu, provided some weeks before looked very promising. And i have to say it did not disappoint. Within our party there was a wide array of tastes, and the menu covered all from traditional classics through to more adventurous options. Without exception, every single item that arrived on the table looked excellent, and judging by everyone's reaction tasted just as good if not better. Staff too were very good, and friendly/approachable. My only very slight quibble was that there was a pause in the delivery of food to the table resulting in some members of our party having to wait a little while other ate, but this was only by a few minutes. Overall, this was a really good experience. Its a really good spacious venue too - we had a rectangular table arrangement in the orangerie. Also, the bar is well stocked and has reasonably priced house wines. All good, i would definitely like to eat there again. congrats to the Millfields team.

Prices at the restaurant have risen dramatically since I used to use it regularly. The menu did not come up to expectations but we did spot the brill on the specials board. The food was excellent and well presented. Service was slow and with another appointment on the calendar, we could not risk staying for coffee. From arrival to departure was 2 hours and fifteen minutes. Special mention should be made regarding Chloe who served us who proved to be pleasant, courteous and efficient. There were a number of negative points which ruined our visit. I had telephoned the day before to book a table and when we arrived, the restaurant was closed because they had a large funeral party arriving later. If I had been told about that, I would not have booked. Instead we were obliged to eat in the bar, surrounded by a dozen rather vociferous women gossiping. The beer served was supposed to be Landlord draught and it had a fizz to it. I did not bother ordering a second glass. I have had this experience here before and I do wonder when the staff are going to receive some training in cellar-craft. Two courses for two people came to about £45 - a little more than I thought it to be worth. Would we visit again? I am afraid not.

I hate having to write a poor review for Millfields as we have had numerous meals and events there, like our wedding and my 60th birthday and meals all of which have been excellent. I can only say it was a disaster from start to finish. Our table was booked for 8pm for 7 of us. We had to wait for one family member for about 10 minutes, but then we finally got seated at nearly nine o'clock. By the time we got starters it was nearly 9.30pm. We had to ask for a bottle of wine which was free for my birthday. I ordered steak medium and when it arrived it looked a bit charred, when I turned it over it was burnt. I got another one when everyone else had nearly finished their meals. Again supposed to be medium but it was almost raw and very bloody. Some of my party decided they wanted desserts but were disappointed as the kitchen had run out of what they wanted. All in all very poor service and food certainly not up to Millfields high standard. We will certainly not be back in a hurry.

I'm quite sad to write this review for Millfields I am a regular customer there and always enjoy my visits. On this occasion though we had our family Christmas Party in the Westward Lounge and Millfields fell short of quality and quantity. We opted for a buffet this year and paid £17.30p per head. I wish now I had complained on the evening the food was tasty but for the price Tuna sandwiches tuna vol-au-vents? Cheese sandwiches? 1 small plate of prawn sandwiches! When the Gateau arrived there was a slither of cake and the cheese board was very small for the amount of people it served. As I say, I wish I had said something as I co hosted this event. Speaking to my relatives who attended they were disappointed and some were hungry! No, we won't be back for a buffet anytime soon!!!

This hotel is absolutely beautiful for its age, with the rooms delicately tasted for every occasion. My husband and I stayed for a night for our wedding anniversary and they upgraded us to a honeymoon suite, free of charge as the room we was going to stay in was out of use. The staff are remarkable in their customer service. The food is exquisite and presented in an A la Carte style. It is very filling and slightly above average price but i would expect that for a 3* hotel. It is ideal for a function such as a wedding reception etc.. it is a bit of a nightmare to park although there is parking round the back for hotel residents which not many people know about. The entrance to the hotel is right on a traffic lights junction which can prove tricky to get out of. However, there is a short walk to the local public space area called Peoples park, which is full of nature and wildlife and also has a cafe with FREE toilets!!

Four of us visited the restaurant in Millfields hotel on Saturday 2nd October. We all just had a main course, three of us picked steaks and the other had duck . I asked for new potatos instead of chips as I don't like chips, which was no problem. When our food arrived the duck was lovely, but the steak meal just had a steak on a plate with two limp pieces of rocket and half a tomato. We were served with side dishes of chips and potatos. The steak was tasty but not one of us got it cooked how we asked for it, I asked for a medium to well done steak and got a rear to medium steak with blood, which I didn't want.My new potato I believe were microwaved when cut into they were just powdery and tastied awful.I complained to the waitress who was very helpful but the only thing I was offered was chips which I don't eat.So I paid £15 for an under done steak!!! my friends had a steak not cooked to their liking and about six chips which were eidible and some scrappy bits which were ineidible! We asked for vinegar and when we poured it some kind of insect (worm like) CAME OUT!!! YUCK!!! so disappointing,we have all eaten in Millfields lots of times over the years and always enjoyed it.We wont be going back again and will be telling people how awful it was.The prices are quite expensive so you expect quality and a plate full of food.We had neither! we came home and had something to eat. Got the bill and was overcharged £10.90 and the waitress loudly blamed it on the bar staff, who shrivelled up in embarrassment at being blamed, when I said to the receptionist it wasn't anyone's fault other than the useless waitress we had she did at least apologise but not to the bar staff who the waitress had shown up! Not at all good value for money and service was terrible, we won't be returning here!

Popped in for a drink on a Thursday night and was surprised to find a really good atmosphere (not been for a while!) and lots of people but the place just didn't seem prepared or able to cope. There was one guy working really hard behind the bar (Eddy), not sure where the others were!!! At one point the bar was 3 deep in people and covered in glasses but still it was just Eddy. Millfields is really nice and I will go back based on the feel of the place but please please just get some more staff that work!

I agree with some of the other reviewers. The staff have absolutely no interest in taking care of you. Specially that blondy waitress with long nails, we felt as an inconvenience for her all the time. The menu is quite complete and you can find good fish dishes.

Me and financé went to celebrate our anniversary the first part of the experience was great lovely lady on reception greeted us nicely beautiful building room was spotless then we went to the cinemas and returned at about 7 and went to the restaraunt where it went down hill we was greeted by a young woman who made us feel more like a inconvenience instead of guests we had to wait 15 minuets for her to take our order, the food was great, compliments to the chef, minus the attitude of this so called manager who seemed more interested in flirting with the gentlemen on the next table as apposed to doing her job, through her flirting we found out her name was Marianne, (nails & eye lashes sweety???) no introduction for us we noticed, I got lost on my search for the toilet, I saw her stood leaning on a wall her phone in hand texting, when we finally finished our meal we prepared to leave and she was then trying to get us out as quick as we had eaten she ruined what would of been an overall great time if she hadn't of been there then we would have thoroughly enjoyed it, I have read up on previous comments, perhaps there are better serving people here.....?

I recently ate here as part of a large party of 20+ people. The table was set out very nicely and the starter course was delivered in a timely manner. The food was delicious. The main course was another story entirely. Three of the group ordered the vegetarian pasta dish which had to be sent back due to the puddle of oil at the bottom of the bowl. These people said the pasta was delicious but inedible as the oil made the ricotta in the dish curdle and the whole dish looked unappetising. The young male waiter was very courteous about the issue and said these dishes would not be charged for. However, three of the group sat with a main meal whilst the rest of us dined. As we had pre-ordered the food, there were no other dishes available. The service was also variable as the female server, later identified as the manager had a curt and nonchalant manner. For example, whilst collecting dishes she told one of the group to 'watch her head', rather than the more polite 'excuse me.' The food was shouted out as it arrived at the table, again understandable for a large group but when the dish is shouted out again and again and people's full names were shouted too, it all felt like a cattle market. We would have let this matter pass without reference had it not been for the treatment at the dessert course. Yes, the service was passable but a little more terse than one might expect. The lemon tart wasn't zesty enough but again, it was probably down to personal taste and the quality was fine for the price and expectation. My friend ordered sticky toffee pudding which when came out and looked perfectly acceptable. When she sniffed she became disconcerted by the overpowering smell of ginger. She is a member of the WI, thus an avid baker and even supplies a local tea room with their cakes. So this woman is an expert in the field. As she doesn't like ginger she checked the menu to see if she had made a selection without reading about the added ingredient. However, the description on the menu made no mention of ginger. This lady spoke to the female server and the pudding was taken back to the kitchen with a few grumbles from the server. This was all fine, if a little abrupt. However, when the server returned, my friend asked to speak to the manager. The female identified herself as the manager. My friend said that she would not be paying for the pudding because it had not said it included ginger, a non-traditional ingredient in the cake. She despises ginger and wouldn't have ordered it if she had known the ingredients. A situation, easily resolved... or so we thought.Whether her stance on not paying was right or wrong, the manager's inept response caused a minor problem to escalate into a heated discussion. As a paying customer, you would expect the manager to appease the customer, but not so here. The manager had no authority to exclude the pudding from the bill as the chef would not allow it. This is very odd. Why does the chef have more authority than the manager? The way the matter was argued back and forth with a degree of apathy from the manager only served to create an awkward atmosphere for the party with no resolution. When my friend said we would not return and we'd tell people of our experiences, thus the hotel would lose clientele, the manger accused my friend of being threatening and unfair. I think the situation could have been dealt with more effectively and because of the stubborn nature of the manager and her lack of reasonable customer service we are of the opinion that our money was welcome but our opinion was not. If the manager had identified that the situation had started to become irate, she should have taken the pudding off the bill to avoid this unnecessary confrontation. Over, this was very disappointing. We will not be returning to Millfields, which is a shame because we have had better service in the past. This is not the same restaurant as when Simon used to manage. There is a man who put the customer first and the Humber Royal is lucky to have him.

Rather than have a pre-Christmas meal out, we opted for the new year instead. We weren't disappointed, as although it was quieter, it was a relaxed atmosphere in the nicely re-furbished brasserie restaurant. The food was great, & Mike the deputy restaurant manager was very attentive to our needs.

First visit of 2016 and the food is just as good as it was in 2015. The service friendly as ever. I've never had a bad meal over the past 6 months I've been staying. Worth a try if you haven't already, if you have then you probably already have plans to return.

For our annual family meal we tried a new location and we're ready to book for next year too! We were a large party of 14 with ages from 86 to 3 but all needs were met. Food was served promptly by cheerful, helpful staff. We had pre booked our meals and they were served quickly so all meals were hot. We had additional vegetables and gravy, almost one each! Lively atmosphere which was helped by the excellent service provided by Mike. He even provided a magic trick for the children, although the adults were also suitable impressed! Would definitely recommend and will return.

We have had an excellent Christmas Meal here at Millfields. The staff, inparticular, Mike were outstanding and very friendly. It was lovely to see Mike go that extra mile and entertain some restless young children, on other tables. The food was excellent and much praise goes to the chefs Simon and Jack. The food was top quality and we were catered for our individual needs. Thank you so much for making our Christmas Day so enjoyable. We would highly recommend Millfields Restaurant. Many thanks again, The Hallett Family.

I have just enjoyed a really great Christmas meal today. We were a party of eight friends and all our meals where superb. From the starters of goats cheese and walnut tart to the turkey or beef main and followed by desserts of Christmas pud or chocolate and hazelnut tart everything was perfect - tasty and well presented. The quality and quantity of fresh vegetables was excellent - so much we had to leave a few! The service was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere relaxed. Also, myself and fellow diner were able to order from the menu in advance and it was made gluten free for us - wonderful!!All in all a great start to Christmas - thank you to all at Millfields.

Booked a table for 10 on Sunday (6 adults, 4 children). Friendly service and reasonable value. Starters were excellent (if a little slow coming out of the kitchen). Mains were good value, nicely cooked and good sized portions (without being silly huge). A couple of minor points by a couple of our party, but nothing too major given it was a busy service. Overall we were all pleased with the choice and would definitely return. It is several years since we were last here and it's definitely raised it's game both in food offering and the general presentation of the property which is altogether more stylish than once was. We shall return in the future.

Chicken and pepperoni pizza was a generous size and had plenty of chips too. Staff friendly, don't remember asked if our meals were OK though. Good overall though.
