Visited today excellent food friendly helpful staff and good offers on food, will definitely go again

After asking where our order was after half an hour we were told we were next to come out. It came out after a further 20 minute wait, and then it was very poor. The sizzling plate was burnt and the burger was basic despite being one of the ‘special’ burgers. We were offered a free coke each as way of apology and to be fair the waitress was extremely apologetic but after waiting so long, and then to get get poor food, it couldn’t make up for how disappointed we were. I did also think it was unfair to blame a trainee chef and to say that the pub was busy (it wasnt at 4pm when we arrived), for the bad service. We wouldn’t recommend and will try one of the other local sizzling pubs next time.

A 50 minute wait for three very simple meals and when they arrived at five minute intervals, a burger was on the verge of being inedible. We ate here in the summer and it was great unfortunately it's not only gone downhill but it's digging a hole. A reply to the business, yes we were given a free round of drinks ( cokes) but to say it was a busy night and a trainee chef, very poor of you to blame a trainee and a busy night did you staff correctly? When a customer complains , think about the comments and put something in place so it doesn't happen again. If you don't listen you don't learn.

My wife and I have visited the king's head on two occasions once for lunch once for dinner the food is absolutely excellent very good service and a friendly atmosphere A very good surroundings. And there is no low life!! Very highly recommended

This was our first time at the Kings Head and it didn’t disappoint!

Really nice food the steak was cooked perfectly, really enjoyed the overall experience I go to a lot of sizzling pubs but this one is up there in my top 3 places to eat and drink hats off to you all for being run ragged but still got a smile on your face.

Really lovely staff so welcoming and smiley even though it was quite busy and they clearly need someone else, recently had a paint job and it looks good. The food was tasty and came out in good time the steak with cooked perfectly

First and last time I ever visit your venue and I'm telling friends and family in the area to avoid too after what's transpired. I can't comment on the rest of the menu but vegans will be massively underwhelmed with the only real option being a tiny child-size portion of overfried cauliflower bites that tasted of seafood with an equally tiny portion of overfried greasy chips that seemed double fried (another reviewer had the indentical complaint about the chips). Beer was adequate, service was fine too. As I was with friends and not paying myself I decided not to be "that guy" and complain or make a scene. Some days/weeks later I learn that I was given a parking fine! Yet the sign at the entrance of the car park saying that it's for pub customers only... fair enough I thought? At no point was anything on the tables nor did the male staff at the bar taking the order ask my friend if we are parked in the car park like is standard practice (at professionally run venues). They shun all responsibility onto perhaps one sign on the bar which if you're not ordering you wouldn't have noticed. Other reviewers caught out in the same way mention returning to check signage after being ticketed and STILL not being able to find any indication or instruction of what to do (this will help strengthen my case should the evil parking firm be stupid enough to take this to court).  Imagine that, the place that serves you the worse food of your life - so you do the mature thing and let it slide and quitely vow amongst friends never to return - then also has the cheek to send you a ticket for a genuine mistake on my part and poor instructions/disclosure on theirs. Just type "parking" into the search box to read many other reviewers sharing the same sentiment about INSTRUCTIONS NOT CLEAR or OBVIOUS. Yet the pub basically said it's my fault for not noticing. Charming. It's not my responsibility to mindread - it's your responsibility to make it clear so as to not cheese off your customer base, something you haven't grasped yet. Also staff with sensitive feelings that take criticism personally should not be handling customer complaints! The male member of staff who answered the phone last week recalls the voicemails I left immediately after being ticketed, and politely admitted the calls weren't returned and justice was denied because a female duty manager didn't like my tone and delivery. I have since had legal advice that being angry/upset in such a situation is warranted and understandable, and my tone or delivery does not allow a venue in a position of power (with relation to having the authority to cancel a wrongly issued parking ticket) to just ignore the matter because they took insult to genuine criticism about the horrible food and poor instructions. The pubs CCTV footage could have exonerated me (if they acted in a timely manner instead of behaving like children), which in this industry is usually only held for 31 days (I left a voicemail on the same day the ticket landed on my doorstep). I've done everything I can do and have retained logs and recordings of all voicemails and calls to the pub - these will be shown to the judge should the matter reach that far. I have also put the parking firm on notice that should this matter be taken to court, I have two witnesses who I visited the pub with. I will also be issuing a money claim against the pub address directly for any potential legal costs incurred, including time taken off work and travel expenses to court, for each of my friends, one of whom lives a three hour train ride away.

We called in for a light lunch. Service 10/10 value 8.5/10 venue 9/10. We will definitely return at a later date. And will recommend to family and friends.

Lovely place to meet, eat and chat

My Wife and I went out on a Friday tea time at 6 o clock. There was only 1 table left . My wife ordered Rib and Steak and I ordered Chicken and mushroom pie . Unfortunately they didn't have the pie so I ordered the Scampi with upgraded chips with mushy peas and I am glad I did. The Scampi were golden and crunchy and the chips were red hot and the peas we delicious. My wife's steak was cooked medium rare and was cooked perfectly and she really enjoyed the rest of her meal

We regularly eat here since Jordan took over and it's quickly becoming our go to over the Coachy. Yes the food isn't quite to the same standard but that's reflected in the price and we always have a good meal. Prices are fab and there are often deals on if you use the app. The place has recently been refurbished making it a lovely place for a meal out or a drink.

We had a family meal with 5 adults. We booked because we had been unable to get a table the last two times that we turned up without a booking as it had been busy. The food was plentiful, tasty and enjoyed by all. Quick, friendly service and lovely desserts added to the experience. I had the vegan ribs. One of the most satisfying pub meals I have ever had. Will definitely be selecting that from the menu again!

Hadn't been for a while but went there yesterday and had a great meal. Service was spot on , love the decor. Can highly recommend this establishment!

Went for lunch today and everything was great. Super service from all. The food was hot and tasty and we didn't have to wait too long. It looks lovely inside after the refurb and was nice and warm.

Popped in for Sunday late lunch with elderly parents. Ordered food and drink via the table app, drinks arrived straight away, food soon after. Food was delicious, hot and all meals served together. Excellently looked after by Jo. Will definitely come back, only downside, a little noisy for the old folk (football on the telly) will move to a different table next time for a quieter meal.

Our local sizzler was not serving food after 7pm due to a problem so we decided to go to the kings head. What a fantastic decision. The refurbishment was superb and atmosphere was terrific. The staff were very welcoming and jo sorted out my phone due to a problem with my app. The food was excellent to say the least. The toilets were the best and cleanest we have ever seen n a pub. So congratulations to all the staff and see you soon.

Good value, good size portions and great quality food. Friendly helpful staff. Booked a table for 12.30 just in case but seemed to be free tables. Good atmosphere, plenty of choice and various deals through the week.

Lovely early birthday evening at Kings Head Waltham. It was very busy with Halloween 🎃 parties and there was a free quiz later on with prizes.Cocktails on offer too. Lively atmosphere and friendly.

Great service, good food, great friendly staff

The sizzling guarantee is more than just a guarantee for your food to be sizzling, it guarantees it to be burnt, and when you complain, the attitude of the staff is atrocious. Sadly, really poor experience of customer service as most the meals were ok except for 1 but staff let us down 😕 in addition and in response to the response of the kings head, no check back was made at all through the whole of our meal and should the complaint have been handled appropriately and not defensive and rude we would not have complained at all - an apology or acceptance of the feedback would have been accepted.

I had a wonderful meal with my family, our waitress Libby was extremely polite and bubbly and very helpful. Can’t wait to visit again!

It was the best pub in the land, especially on xmas eve back in 1983. I was 13 then, used to come in with all the family. Haven't visited since 1985

The quality of the food and service was great today. Just could have done with being a little warmer.

Jess behind the bar was extremely friendly and helpful. It was very busy and our drinks were taking a bit of time. When i went to speak to her she was kind, apologetic and got our drinks straight away.

Returned after couple of yrs, looked good inside, ordered the 8oz steak,, one well done, one med / rare,,,, both looked the same, over cooked, well done, beyond edible, not good for birthday treat

First time we visited since the refurb and WOW WOW WOW. Everything and I mean everything was spot on. The pub looks great. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Make sure you enter your car reg on the consoles.

If you like packed pubs with noise, children running about and a scam carparking company in charge of the carpark you'll love it. Not for me I'm afraid. PS:-If you do pull into the carpark be sure to enter your Reg No before you leave or you'll be recieving a £100 fine.

Very noisy went on a Sunday Afternoon. Watch out for the carpark notice which states you have to enter your registration correctly on to a console in the Pub before leaving otherwise you will get a nasty fine. For a newcomer the fact that the carpark has been sold to a shark company who will use any excuse to fine you is appalling for a pub owner/company to do. I will not be going again

Had never been to the kings head before but heard about the refurb and the menu looked good. When we arrived there was no-one to show us to our table that we'd booked online but we managed to find the reserved sign and sat down. Ordered at the bar and the food arrived fairly quickly but unfortunately both my partner and I realised in our first few bites that this was was one of the worst meals we've ever had. He had mixed grill, I had a burger with a side of mac and cheese and both meals were extremely rubbery, tasteless and bland. We both said we've had better ready meals from a supermarket that hadn't cost us £40! Sometimes the staff bother you too much at eateries, asking how your meal is but no-one asked us at all here and there just didn't seem to be much customer service at all. We drank up our drinks and left straight away so ended up staying less an an hour in total. We'd been looking forward to our treat tea all day so were disappointed and won't be back unfortunately.

Came here one teatime with a party of 7. Staff were welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, food was delicious and the decor just tops off the experience.

Has just been refurbished and was looking fresher than a halls soother , I ordered the giant curry and my brother ordered the giant gyros which we both shared once we new how amazing the food was , a mixture of perfect produce , top level cooking and a great friendly atmosphere was a concoction from the gods , some really fit bar staff there too

Waited over an hour for food. Scampi was awful, over cooked and tough. The mixed grill was covered in an excess of onions, the steak was tough as boots. Puddings, 3 werent available ... 2nd time I've been here and 2nd time disappointed. I won't be returning. The atmosphere is loud and not an enjoyable evening.

Just refurbished, our server very polite came round after half hour to ask if all ok. Not usually use sizzlers so we tried this one and had a happy sharing dish which was enough for 2 cheap meal 5* from me

New decor ok and staff lovely! But the food however was THE WORST. Mixed grill!! , Steak was absolutely the toughest, chewiest, inedible lump ever been served...the lovely apologetic Staff member even made reference to other customers expressing same issue. Cheap Sausage cooked to a lovely shade of almost black but was edible, as was the low budget pub chain chicken. £11.99 for mixed grill comes with budget expectations but was just a total waste of money. The lovely staff members reassurance that feedback to supplier has already been identified only served to irritate .. If there's an known issue, don't sell it.!!

One star for the diabolical parking 'scam' we was not informed of the parking protocol on ordering drinks. On the first notice of prosecution, we phoned to ask for redemption. Nothing ! 4 more times I have asked, eventually speaking to the General manager who assured me that he would deal with the problem...... we have now been issued with a summons! So obviously not delt with. We intend to move to the area, I will be taking this up personally with the management! As requested photo of demand letter. Manager has assured me that this has been delt with...... Time will tell. SECOND NIP. Management lie! Not been cancelled as stated above. ( photo attached) There's a new Video on the King's head site showing the new parking scheme, pity this was not in place before we visited! Now sorted, Manager did finally did sort it out, we didn't pay.

Enjoyed our meals although appeared slightly overcooked on one meal after a 45 minute delay from ordering until the food was served.

Not been for a while but heard about the refurbishment so thought I'd take the family out, I am so impressed. The food was amazing all the staff were friendly and professional even though they were rushed off their feet and the pubs new decor is fantastic. Not local but stopped in for tea. The staff were so welcoming and the food was great. Everything looked newly decorated or they've got some mint cleaners. Either way would stop again if we were passing.

We went to the newly refurbished kings head tonight for a few drinks and some food and all I can say is WOW. Great atmosphere, lovely decor and the food was exceptional. We had the tandoori skewers sizzling skillet and it was beautiful. Well cooked, fresh and well presented. Definitely matches the quality of the new look decor. We will be booking again for a return visit very soon

Beware car parking confidence trick. Just received Parking Charge Notice for £100.00. Did not see sign and was not advised by staff of need to login. Total con. Daylight Robbery.

Went here for the Kings Fest, was well organised, brought a lot of people together in the village along with a bunch of new faces too. Great entertainment for a bank holiday weekend.

The waitress that served us our meal was friendly and apologetic when our order arrived and was wrong. She offered myself a free drink whilst I waited for a new meal to be cooked. Unfortunately my partner had finished his by the time mine came. My fries were over cooked and looked like what was left from the bottom of the bag. I couldn't eat these. The burger was tasty though.

Came out for a meal, lovely food, service and staff I would like to thank the lady with the glasses who was so kind when my 8 week old decided to poo all over the disabled toilets and myself I was so embarrassed and she gladly sorted it out for me, will definitely be back....will definitely not be leaving the same way 🤦‍♀️😂

Arrived at the kingshead made to feel welcome, on entry and staff kerry, Jamie-lea was very pleasant and efficient, we had food which was very good, thank you to Jamie and John the kitchen staff and jorden the manger who always has a smile on his face and makes everyone feel welcome, thank you kingshead

Went for lunch with my husband. Waited nearly an hour for a simple order. There seemed to be a distinct lack of staff. We asked for a refund and left. Shame because when we came before it was fine.

Food Poisoning and Incredible disappointing. Had a butter chicken burger and was extremely ill after it. It was clear food poisoning and having eaten nothing since breakfast before having the burger at 8 o clock, it was clear that the food poisoning came from the burger, rather than cereal. I called the pub the next day to inform the management that I had been sick from the food, as I have worked in hospitality in the past and this is what would be appreciated, and rather than it being received in a better way, I was told to go to my GP to make sure it was actually their food that made me sick. To this I got incredibly frustrated and was told on the phone by the manager that there was no need to be so irate. Incredibly disappointing and no accountability taken.

The food is consistently good, which is a bonus. Not had a bad meal yet. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. We have told friends who then visited the Kings Head and they felt the same. A cheerful place with enjoyable food. Keep up the good work !!

A centrally located Pub in a small village. Friendly staff and clientele. Ample parking and outdoor space. But, the children's playarea needs attention on a daily basis, hence the 4 stars. A little TLC wouldn't go amiss, otherwise a great place.
