The Ship Inn in North East Lincolnshire

Few days away in the area and The Ship Inn was 2 villages down from where we are staying - popped in for lunch which was superb. Very friendly staff, food was fantastic and it was lovely and warm on a dreary October Monday.

Visited the ship inn on numerous times this last year since moving to the area and I have to say the place is simply delightful,always a lovely friendly welcome and the food is always presented in an exceptional professional way and tastes delicious,been with both friends and family and our little dogwho also love it, Highly recommend and most certainly will be using again very shortly

First visit for my partner and first time for me in about 20 years. It’s a lovely place (we ate in the bar) although it was a little warm from the heater. I ordered a lime and soda but was told they had ran out of soda. So not a great start, but the food more than made up for it. My partner and I both had the chicken kebab with a side of onion rings. It was so nice, couldn’t fault it. We will definitely return again.

I would like to say thank you to all the staff that work at The Ship. The bar staff are very welcoming, the atmosphere is joyfully, we were made to feel welcome as if we were regulars n the food was excellent, I myself could see n hear how well the staff got on from the front of house to the kitchen. Nothing was to much trouble for any of them. Thank you so very much

Very quiet for 5oclock but the friendly service and food was excellent 👌

We recently ate here and thought it was fantastic but this visit was disappointing. We waited 45 minutes for our food and would have appreciated someone giving us a heads up that it would be delayed. When the food did arrive it was not great: my burger was overcooked and dry, and my wife's halloumi "kebab" was actually pieces of battered, deep fried halloumi and not fresh, marinated and grilled as expected when you order a kebab. The only real positive of the experience was Grace who is friendly and attentive.

Without doubt the most relaxing pub in the area. I pop in a few times a week, music is nice and relaxed, food is quality, staff are lovely.

Wow. What a find. We stayed at Laceby Manor Resort two miles away. And was recommended The Ship Inn by one of the staff there. A beautiful village pub. And the food was absolutely delicious. Very friendly staff. The fish is so fresh. We can speak highly enough of our date night there. Superb.

This place is often missed it’s a little off the beaten track. My elderly father come on a regularly basis even though it’s a an hour to get there. We have never been disappointed, we went for lunch on the 4/6/24 I had a lemon sole and my father had fish and chips he doesn’t really eat much but he always finishes his plate. (Big plate) The piece of resistance is the sticky toffee pudding home made, not frozen. The staff are very attentive, and friendly, food comes quickly, and value for money. A must visit.

Met with friends for a meal after a walk I. The local countryside. Table was booked, and available on arrival. The food was exceptional and piping hot. I had originally orders the seafood & chicken risotto which wasn’t available when we were there, so I opted for the seafood linguine instead. There is a saying of having ‘eyes bigger than your belly’; this was certainly the case in question! The linguine had so much seafood it was worth every penny. It was fresh, and absolutely delicious. And yes, I managed pudding after. My friends all,shared the same point of view; the food was excellent and great value for money, and all are keen to return.

Fabulous menu, great fresh homemade food, plenty of veg and very good service, we weren’t rushed at all and will definitely be back.

My friend and I had lunch here today. The young lady that greeted us was very welcoming, friendly and a nice genuine smile. The food was cooked superbly, came hot to table, fresh vegetables , (not frozen or tinned). We had mushroom stroganoff, excellent, the plates of food look gorgeous . We had three courses, every mouthfuls was delicious. (People the meals came with edible flowers !!, eat them 😋) Recommend The Ship Inn for high quality service and food, definitely eat there again 5*

Exquisite food ....well presented and extremely tasty. I took my parents for my step dads birthday. We are all well travelled and eaten seafood in many places....My step dad stated it was the best sea bass he had ever had...which made me happy with my choice of venue. I had the linguine which was amazing ....very tasty and a decent amount of seafood in it... Also the muscles were great!! Ooh I nearly forgot about starters....oops .....I tried the tiger prawns and haloumi fries were fantastic 😍 prawns spicy and delicious the dipping sauce was dicine...divine.... All food was fresh and can't wait to go again 🙏🏻 Our waitress was lovely too...on the ball and friendly.

This was my first visit to the ship Inn. My partners starter and main course where of a very good quality, and indeed he enjoyed both the quantity and quality of his meal . Because of this I have given a 3 star . My meal on the other hand , was extremely disappointing both the starters and main course where probably the worst I have ever eaten when going for a meal out . Very disappointed after being given such good reviews . This was our Birthday meal as we share the same birthday 29th April. What should have been a real treat was such a let down . I could not fault the excellent service from your staff , who where very attentive and helpful.

Had amazing meal yesterday. Scallops for starter, followed by sea bass, then panacotta. Everything beautifully cooked with wonderful flavours. Lovely service from staff too. We will return.

Just enjoyed a superb fish lunch at the Ship Inn Barnoltby le Beck. Both the poached halibut and pan fried swordfish were cooked to perfection Accompanying sauces and garnishes were excellent Probably the best place in the area for choice and quality if you enjoy fish beyond the usual seabass or battered cod Its lovely old pub both comfortable and clean and friendly service. Good real ale on offer .Choice of seating in the quaint bar or the restaurant . You don't have to rush your meal as the pub stays open all day.Will be returning to try other meals from the menu and specials board Andy Z April 10th 2024

Visited on Wednesday night with only one other table dining. The service was slow but friendly, however when the meals arrived the mash potato was cold and the other veg over cooked, the burger was inedible with the hand cut chips clearly frozen chips. No one around to speak to. Would not return or recommend.

We took our mother here on Easter Sunday for Sunday Roast and WOW what an experience we had it was absolutely delicious 2 of us had the most tender beef and even mother could chew it with her false choppers! Lol my wife had vegetarian vegetable pie that was also yummy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will make the Ship our regular dining place. We enjoyed our meal so much that we booked here for Christmas Day Dinner.. highly recommend. That you The Ship Inn.

Booked for restaurant - table set in bar. Long wait for drinks even though there were few in. Even longer wait for food order. Room very cold. Sunday lunch, roast chicken. Hard parsnips, hard carrots and even harder roast potatoes. Thick lumpy gravy. Tiny portion of overcooked cabbage. No other greenery and not particularly hot. Wanted second drinks but nobody came to serve us or clear the table. Waited another 1/2 hour. Went to ask about desert and was told someone was coming. Nobody did. So no desert, no second drink. Left. Worst Sunday lunch I've ever had in Lincolnshire. Other diners sitting with coats on still waiting for food when we gave up.

Had Easter lunch here . Ordered Roast Beef, which came as cooked long enough to sole your shoes with. Small amount of mashed potato, 2 roast potatoes, a dessert spoonful of red and green cabbage, 1/2 carrot and 1/2 parsnip, yorkshire pudding, all smothered in gravy. The meal was just overpowered with salt. The pub itself was really cold so we kept our coats on. Not a pleasant experience and we alll vowed not to go back. Overpriced for the amout of food.

If you judge a restaurant or pub for good food, then this is absolutely 5*. Genuinely a better meal you will have to go a long way to find. This is proper restaurant food. Compliments to the chef. Friendly service, lovely welcoming environment. Would highly recommend.

Went for a meal with friends (four of us). Great meal and service. The atmosphere was good, but the pub was fairly quiet, which suited us, enabling us to chat to each other.

Visited for Sunday lunch. The food was lovely (roast pork and roast beef), and then we had a cheese cake and sticky toffee pudding. The service was very friendly. And the pub is cosy and modern. Definitely recommend.

Went here for the first time in a couple of years when the previous owners had it. It looked different inside and personally I wasn't keen on the decor as I thought it was a bit dull but that's just a matter of taste. The menu wasn't especially big and there were no steaks but there were specials on a board of around four things which were all fish. In fact most of the menu is fish but a wonderful choice. I would rather a smaller menu cooked well than a huge menu that's very run of the mill and just like everywhere else. We only had mains. I chose hake which was a special. It was absolutely delicious! Sat on top of new potatoes with a curry sauce and mussels. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it was just the right size. My husband had a beef burger which he said was very nice and had it with hand cut chips which were the best chips he had ever had. I'm not exaggerating. They were to die for. There was a young lady working behind the bar that took the order, brought the drinks and food and asked us if everything was okay. She was very efficient, polite and most pleasant. We visited on a Wednesday and it was fairly quiet, so there wasn't much atmosphere but it would probably be more lively at weekends. All in all a nice evening with great food and service and at a reasonable price. We would go back and will recommend it to friends. The best place I've found for fish dishes definitely.

Not visited the Ship for a while and I was pleasantly surprised. Food was plentiful, good value for money and more importantly, really tasty. Perhaps it's lost a little of its former quirky charm but still well worth a visit.

We have recently moved to the area and decided to visit the Ship after recommendations from a friend who lives in the area. As it was the week after Xmas it was quiet on a weekday night However this did not seem to affect the service or quality of food. There is a choice of approx 6 or 7 items in both the starters and main courses plus specials We had the chilli prawn and the pate starters both were really good. Then the Duck and Seabass. The seabass was beautifully cooked as was the duck if my partners empty plate was Any indication. We have already booked to visit again.

Popped on a Wednesday for a family birthday. Gorgeous food and excellent service. Really enjoyed our evening at The Ship.

The food was really good, however service was incredibly slow. It took around 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive after ordering, and the food was also delayed significantly. Once it arrived though it was well worth the wait. With a speedier service, this would easily be a 4 star experience.

Found myself staying overnight nearby, and popped in here after around 450 miles behind the wheel. Good choice of beers and the place was fairly busy even early on a Saturday evening. They served me a delicious meal and I gave me a fairly warm welcome upon arrival. Had a bit of a yap with a couple of the locals as the night went on. Lovely barmaid (just don't order a Whisky Mac as nobody on the staff knew what that was...)

Attended for birthday meal celebration. Very poor service. Waited 20 minutes to be served for a drink. The menu was limited. The mushroom stroganoff tasted no different in taste or texture to the garlic mushroom starter. Could have been the same ? Meal came warm had to be reheated. Very disappointed won’t be returning.

Booked the Christmas Faye menu for 4 of us, waited 50mins for starter! Had to ask for more drinks! Then waited a further 45mins for main course which tasted like it had been re heated! There seemed to be problems with the kitchen, on the whole the service was terrible and was a big disappointment, needless to say we will certainly not be going again and would definitely not recommend this place. Not impressed of Tetney 😞😞😞

Food was excellent. Service friendly. Cosy pub. It was well worth a visit . Will certainly return in the near future. I will be recommending this pub to my friends.

We visit this local pub a fair bit, the food is always super, we arranged to go with family for the Christmas menu, and we are really pleased we did.. as always the service was brilliant and the food was great, very tempted to book in again and just the two of us enjoy it all over again.

We went for Sunday lunch today as a family. The roaring fire and Christmas decorations made for a lovely atmosphere. The food didn’t disappoint and was lovely and a lot of effort can be seen in it. The staff were wonderful and couldn’t have been more helpful. We will definitely be coming back.

Really disappointed. Waited 30 mins for food and it was cold when served. Beef was fatty and chewy. Not much vegetables so we complained and more veg was served and was better. I would not recommend. Not good value for money at all

Came last minute and pleasantly surprised. All enjoyed our Sunday lunch. One thing we all said though was that the open fire needs to be lit for warmth and atmosphere! Can’t understand why it wouldn’t be lit in winter in a country pub!!

Beautiful food and wonderful service. Fish is the speciality and it didn’t disappoint. We booked and pre ordered in advance and the lovely staff catered for our children’s needs and made our lunch an absolute delight. Every dish from the starter to the deserts and even the coffee were perfect. Big thanks to all the staff for putting on such a lovely lunch for our family and we shall be returning again soon!

We live locally but only discovered the Ship Inn this year. Now it is our ‘go to’ place for family meals or just a relaxing couples evening. Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking my Uncle and Aunt visiting us from Germany. They absolutely loved the steak and ale pies and my halibut off the specials menu was delicious. I really hope the halibut makes its way onto to the main menu! The treacle toffee pudding is also the best I’ve enjoyed and my uncle and aunt went home very happy. Also worth noting the chips, hand cut chips and skinny fries are all great though the hand cut chips win the day. It’s rare you find a restaurant that serves top quality food in a really good portion size. Enjoy!

There was a great ambience in th Ship Inn, the ladies who were working behind the bar were extremely helpful, friendly and curteous. The Fish and Chips were absolutely delicious, and I will definitely be visiting again.

The food was OK but not great 😕 wasn't cheap either but edible, also didn't realise they allowed dogs in, in the same area as ourselves, just not very hygienic in my opinion, I've got nothing against dogs inside but should have there own area like the pear tree has, I was concerned that what if those dogs had, had an accident ie urine or excrement? Sorry but we certainly won't be back.

The ship inn at barnoldby - we will be back! We were in the area over the weekend researching some names recently discovered in the family tree from the 1800s and came across this gem of a pub. The staff were fab, we asked some questions about the area and why we were in the area and they kindly handed us a book to look at about the area from way back - which was helpful and greatly appreciated. We had the 2 course Sunday lunch and dessert - wow! We both cleared the plates. Lovely food, lovely staff we will definitely be coming back hopefully soon!

The food is delicious and staff attentive. The beer garden is a sun trap but wish it could be tidied up and made more comfortable.

Excellent. Called in for lunch and although the pub was not very busy, the young lady serving, was very welcoming and thoughtful. We had the cheeseburger and the chicken kebab. Both were superb and really tasteful. We were so pleased that we returned for an early dinner two nights later. The pub was busier on a very warm evening and the two girls serving were lovely. This time we had halloumi skewer & roast loin of monkfish. Really lovely. We even managed dessert - lemon meringue pie & sticky toffee pudding, both very yummy. A great shame we don’t live closer as were just staying nearby for a holiday.

Not very welcoming, members of staff (2young ladies) seem very out of place behind a bar. No atmosphere, was expecting a cosy country pub vibe!!!

Having had a Summer Ball cancelled at fairly short notice, our group of nine decided to go out anyway and booked a table at The Ship. Abi and the staff went above and beyond in decorating the table and the area around, the food was excellent and the service faultless. Many thanks

Excellent Sunday Roast, roast potatoes were not nice, ( need to improve) Sticky Toffee pudding is the Best I've had, we always come back.

Our first visit to The Ship this evening, I have to say I have no idea why it's taken me so long to try this place. Lots of people have recommended it and they have every right to, it's a gem. The menu is small but adequate, offering something for every taste. I had chilli and lime jumbo prawns to start followed by steak and ale pie. It was a REAL pie too, short crust pastry just as it should be. Service was excellent, provided by Eva who does everything except cook food it seemed. Can't wait to go back and this time, sample the ales 👍

Had a table for 4 booked Wednesday night , 19-30. had my email & mobile number when booked . We rolled up 19.10 pulled into the car park as the last member of staff was just leaving. She made out there was a gas leak , but suspicions of closing early as no more bookings for the night . Well I never received any notification to say they were closing . So now can’t trust booking again .

Would have given a higher rating but we were told there was no hot drinks available. We'd requested coffee. Why they couldn't put the kettle on is beyond me.

We meet up old friends at the Ship Inn. It's an hour and a half away from us, and the same for them. We've had lunch there four times now and always enjoy the food and the friendly service, which is why we keep coming...

The food was very nice and price was very good. One of the best pints of beer I have had in a long time, the landlord certainly knows how to run a good cellar. The service by the staff was exceptional, I will definitely be going again.
