We’ve had a wonderful visit to Firethorn Cottage today for afternoon tea, as a large family group for Mother’s Day. What a little gem of a place. We were very well looked after, with the children catered for wonderfully as well. The savoury and sweet delights were mouthwatering and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks so much :)

A friend recently recommended Firethorn Cottage...and I'm so glad she did, as I was totally unaware of it's existence ! Four of us went on Saturday & had a fantastic afternoon there. We were made to feel really welcome by our lovely hosts...and the fact that we could take our own fizz was an additional bonus. Steve popped our bottles in the fridge & kept our glasses topped up throughout the afternoon. The food was top notch & Caroline was happy to swop one of my sandwiches, as I'd told her in advance that I can't stand cucumber. We finished the afternoon in the lovely courtyard area - the sun had finally broken out from behind the clouds, so it seemed rude not to. Rest assured it won't be our last visit & I'll be spreading the word amongst friends & family. A big thank you to Caroline & Steve for your hospitality & fabulous food !

Nicest afternoon tea I’ve had for a while! Really tasty food, presented very nicely and in a lovely environment. The owners were really friendly and attentive too.

Visited Firethorn Cottage recently, and it really was a lovely experience. We had the summer menu, that included soup, sandwiches, other savouries, lots of sweet treats, and plenty of fresh hot tea! Well worth the money for the amount you were served, and the quality of the food was outstanding. Everything we had tasted absolutely delicious and was all homemade by the lovely Caroline. The decor inside is really pretty and welcoming. There’s also a beautiful courtyard outside, where you can sit and have cake and a cuppa. All the extra little touches make this place something special. Quality crockery and cutlery. It’s spotlessly clean, and the owners, Caroline and Steve can’t do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble. I look forward to visiting again soon.

We visited today for the afternoon tea. The host Steve made us so welcome. The tables are set out so beautifully and the crockery is super special. The food is extra delicious but go along and check it out for your selves. It's not just an afternoon tea, it's an experience. Can't wait to go back

My only complaint is that it is not open more frequently - like every day. It has such class in every respect: the setting, the welcoming reception and service, and the superb food and its presentation.

The service could not get any better, it is perfect. You feel like you are being invited into this ladies home rather than a tearoom. The care and detail put into everything is amazing. Everything is just perfect would give this place more stars if I could. You need to visit this place its just incredible.

Firstly this delightful place only serves afternoon tea, by prior booking on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays. That said, it is definitely worth a visit. The owners are most welcoming, even on the phone making a booking I could tell that this was going to be a special experience. The food is tasty, carefully thought out, for example each sandwich had a different bread, and beautifully presented. Both the inside and outside are lovely, unfortunately it was too hot to sit outside but it would be nice to return and take advantage of the beautiful garden. I would highly recommend Firethorn Cottage for great service and fabulous food

Got told about this place from locals & they were right. Staff super friendly. Not a huge fan of batter but the Fish & Chips with extra bits were amazing & they did battered haggis!!! Great prices & definitely worth visiting.

Incredible gem in an incredible location. Came for a birthday meal with the 3 course Sunday option. Seated in lobby and brought a drink and menus to browse until we were shown our table which our starters came promptly. All 3 courses were exceptional and well received by all party members. Staff were lovely and helpful and offered great service. Would highly recommend this establishment and it’s not too out of anyone’s price range for a special occasion whatsoever - very very reasonable. Thankyou for having us and most definitely look forward to a return visit ☺️
