Absolutely amazing food. Asked for lightly battered small fish... got something most places would call a large! The batter was light and crispy. Perfect. The chips... fantastic. No raw ones... all cooked spot on. A few crispy ones which are a treat! Curry sauce.. what you'd expect... tasty, good consistency and normal chip shop style. Baked beans.. soft, saucy and just the right sweetness. (I know everyone jas favourite brands etc.. so always a tricky one to review!) The fish is sourced from the local docks.. by the owner's husband who knows fish... so the product is always top notch. A fab chippy... so popular they sold out of fish the other day! Wow! Fantastic staff who will always cater to your needs... lightly battered... half portions etc. So good to have you in NW.

Came for fish and chips on Good Friday and it was delicious! We did have to wait a little while (about an hour) but I think that's to be expected on Good Friday! But the staff were lovely and very friendly

The docks ran out as did many chip shops... apart from those that have frozen stocks. How on earth could someone buy loads of fresh fish hoping that they would sell it all? So glad all the other reviews are positive. A fab chippy.. fantastic staff who will always cater to your needs... lightly battered... half portions etc. So good to have you in NW. Stay positive.

EASTER SATURDAY and you are closed……I’m sorry but if you have no clue how to manage a business or realise that this is the busiest weekend of the year for fish and chip restaurants then at least be decent and let a professional take over so our village has a chip shop that can be relied on. I now have to drive to Cleethorpes to feed a party of 17. Absolute disgrace! 🤬

Living in Cleethorpes all my life, we are practically weened on fish & chips & all think we are experts. These are the best fish & chips around at the moment. I had never been here till we moved to New Waltham, but once we had it is now our favourite. Nice crispy batter, very fresh fish, friendly staff.

I feel I have to review the service and food at Peaks Lane Fish bar, New Waltham. Both my husband and I agree that the fish and chips are perfectly cooked. The large pieces of fish are moist and tasty. The batter is non greasy and deliciously crispy. They may have received an award six years ago but the standard of the food is just as good as it was then, if not better. Definitely the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. Gaye and Phil Roark

Had some lovely fish and chips from here today, the fish was fried in a lovely light batter. Delicious! My husband had the sausage and stuffing patty with chips, peas and gravy, and he too enjoyed his meal. We will definitely be using this chip shop again.

Vile. Worst chippy I’ve ever had the misfortune to stumble upon. The interior was extremely scruffy and the floor was caked in dirt and rubbish. As I waited for my order I couldn’t help but notice all the flies crawling over the counter and walls. Not a single fly exterminator in sight. The menu was the most basic I’ve ever seen and only one size fish. When I eventually received my order and got it home, the fish was so thin, barely any meat on it at all and the batter was awful. Not crispy or bubbly, more like a thin layer of greasy pastry. The chips were ok but nothing special and the young girl forgot the peas that I’d paid for. Not the best experience and I shall not be returning

One of the best chippys around, great staff and you actually get your fished boxed up so when you get it home it's still nice and crisp instead of a mushy mess in a bag. Highly recommended

First time ive tried these as i was driving past in the morning and got glimpse of a sign on the side of the road about some best chippy award. As our local chippy in Holton Le Clay was closed (infact its hardly ever open) we decided to give it a go here, Well you turn up and first thing you have doubts about is they had an award 6 years ago and still advertize the fact well thats ok but a lot can happen over 6 years in any business never mind fast food. Ok so we get to order and then they say they only accept cash well (FFS) so guess what there is no cashpoint within half a mile that works properly....So this great so called chippy doest even accept cards...GET with the times ffs!!!!....we get the cash and pay up....we ordered fish and chips 4 times and suasage and chips twice.....two portions of mushy peas......All our fish portions were thin tail ends so no accident there... all were the cheapest cuts...i guess thets all they serve up then....Nicely served in boxes and the chips separate which was ok, however i think the fish they had boxed up were alive as when we got home they must have eaten half the chips..so a little dissapointed there...the fish (now full of our chips) had finally died back down and were now leaking oil into the corner of the boxes with the amount of batter attached to them not a surprise i may add it did seem nice and crispy but way to much of it and not drained long enough... so had to warn everyone to not lean the boxes and put absorbant plenty kitchen towel under the boxes on their trays....the mushy peas we had were rather stodgy in their pots so thick infact that i did a fork test where i sank my fork into them and tipped the pots on their side and the peas nor the forks moved one bit...i prefer my peas a little bit runny so they dont appear or taste stodgy and coat the chips and fish better, as i'm sure most others will too... so not a graeat experience. Im not going to run them to the ground as at least they were open on a friday evening unlike the chippy in Hollton le Clay where if you fancied fish and chips on a friday night or weekend then forget it!!!! as they shut up shop....What our village needs is another chippy to be open at times when you would expect a chippy to be open and then lets see if they continue to remain closed to the villagers or run the risk of sinking very fast indeed. One more thing to add.....why dont the owners attempt realistically to rewin the award they had 6 years ago...its not good they even use this sign anymore as they would noway re-win it without a lot more effort!!! Imagine Labour advertising the fact that they once held power in 2010 LOL thats what it compares to

Outstanding freshness, quality, service and a great price. Ordered 2 small fish, 1 chips, 1 curry and scraps. The fish were a good size. Really fresh.. and cooked to order.. perfection. Non greasy and extremely tasty. Light, crispy batter encapsulated the white, flaky fish. The chips.. enough for two.. were really good. Hot, soft and the potato quality spot on. The curry suace.. hot temperature.. traditional green/yellow and nice and thick. Very tasty. The scraps.. huge bag.. dead crunchy.. and actually not greasy! Despite being what they are! Recently award 5 star hygiene again... and no wonder... brilliant family team. Service brilliant as usual from the cheerful, polite owner. A credit to New Waltham.

Had fish and chips, was generous portion. Love the fact they come in a box rather than tray or paper as fish stays crispy. Tasty, crispy batter, flaky fish and great chips too. Definitely be going back again.

We have'nt been before, but today i called in and the fish and chips were so good the best we have had for a very longtime

The price of fish and chips is ridiculous when compared to Scartho Fisheries and portion sizes arent the best. Food is ok but would prefer fish with the chips instead of in a box. Had battered sausage on 2 occasions and both times was dry and hard. Dont like the fact they dont have facilities to pay by card its cash only which is very inconvenient in this day and age.

Well it's great to see our fish and chip shop open again. Ordered 2 fish and chips, large chips, 2 curry sauces and mushy peas. Approx £16. The fish was perfectly cooked.. flaky and juicy. The batter crunchy and flavoursome. The chips fresh.. hot.. and soft on the inside but a bite on the outside. Full of flavour. The curry sauce.. tricky one. As every one has their own preferences to curry sauces. I love this one.. what I call the normal chip shop curry. Yellow green in colour.. with a mild flavour/mild spice. The mushy peas.. well.. mushy and pea like! Not brightly coloured like some. But tasty and a good consistency. Thanks to Covid.. you can enter the shop to order if you wear a mask.. or can order from the door. The staff and till area are covered by a screen for their safety. Social distancing is observed outside the shop and it is clear what to do and how to order. The takeaway still maintains it's 5 star hygiene and still maintains its friendly staff! Always a smile and a friendly chat. The food is excellent. Being open just on a Friday and Saturday makes it more of a rare treat.. but I understand plans are to open Thursdays very soon. Our only local chippy in the village is spot on.. and needs everyone's support to keep going. Winner winner... fish n chips dinner!!!!!

Well, a smile would be nice. The fish was put in a box, the box inside a bag and the bag given to me. Straight away I knew the fish would just be a mushy mess when I got home. The box and fish are now vertical inside the bag. Now it was given to me vertical. I got home and open the box and the fish was broken up inside the box. (see photo) All the grease had soaked to the bottom of the box and was dripping all over the kitchen side when I took the box out the bag. Why not just put the fish and chips together and wrap it in paper to prevent breakage and grease issues. Now I thought the fish and chips was superb and I was preparing to give the chippy 4 stars even after the above comments, until my misses found 2 hairs inside her box. 2 medium size blacky brown hairs. It was hard to tell the colour as they were soaked in grease. The service was poor. There's no atmosphere inside the shop. No smile or conversation. Would I go back? Yes if the misses didn't find a hair. Shame really because I haven't tried this chippy for about 10 years but I thought I'd give it a go again as I used to go as a kid.

Always closes so early and usually earlier than stated.

I think they got an award a few years ago. The fish is absolutely delicious. For myself the frites could be a bit better. But overall a nice meal. Staff is friendly. You have to wait a little bit, but its worth it, you get everything fresh.

Should have reviewed before... as many visits... always spot on! So well overdue review! Greeted by the owner... usual friendly, smiley welcome. Clean, organised shop, with usual stock of vinegar, chip spice, cans of pop etc. Still homemade fresh fish cakes.. with a good amount of fish in! Chips... always fresh. Fish.. on this occasion asked for a small one for my elderly mum... cooked perfectly... and the quality of the fish is a credit to the 'sourcer'... absolutely fresh, juicy and meaty. Quality. With everything cooked to order (apart from some items - fish cakes, sausages - depending on busy times or not) it is fantastic. When busy there is a little wait.. well course there would be for fresh.. but when quiet food is cooked and ready before you can think about where to buy a pudding!!!! A great local asset. Support local. Excellent service and product. Still a family favourite. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the chip shop cause!

Haven't been in for a while.. so today I decided to surprise my mum with a small fish and half portion of chips.As usual... a friendly smile and lovely welcome.The shop's appearance... spotlessly clean as per usual and the staff well dressed in clean servers/chef's uniforms.I asked for a small fish and half the usual size of chips.. as it was for my mum 87.. who can't manage the normal small (well large) portion and doesn't like waste.At just under £4 It is well worth it. Fresh fish from the local docks. Freshly cut and cooked chips. And of course beef dripping. The fish and chips soon disappeared when placed in front of my mum. The batter light and crispy. And the chips cooked so they were golden and fluffy on the inside.A little salt enhanced it all even further!She really enjoyed it. It cheered her up. And begged me to treat her again another day.Smiles all round. Thanks again to our local gem of a shop.

We called in as we spotted it as we passed at lunchtime.We were very pleased we stopped,fishcake and chips were fab as were the mushy peas,all topped with generous portion of scraps.Piping hot and very tasty indeed.Will definitely call again !

Firstly, I am so disappointed that such a rude person can leave a negative review about my local chippy. Clearly they have not told the truth in their review. Hearing from others (I was not there) the negative reviewer was a very angry, rude customer... and it's only a pity I wasn't there. I certainly wouldn't have let him speak to the friendly, polite and hard working members of staff.

I cannot understand the negative reviews!! This fish shop is our local I go every week and have always had good service and freshly cooked fish which is amazing quality. The staff and owner Sam are friendly and efficient. What more can I say - excellent food excellent service

After reading such positive reviews and seeing the 'award' proudly displayed in the window we thought we would see what it was like - especially as we live a mere 5 minutes walk away. Disappointing would be a fair assessment. They only had two pies left - despite it being just after 5.30pm. The one we chose was a bad decision on our part as it was impossible to cut through the top - even with one of our steak knives so I dread to think how long it had been sat in the top of the oven - yet the bottom was soggy and a strange texture. Quite an achievement by anyone's standards. Once inside, an accomplishment only managed by taking the lid entirely off, we found things didn't get any better. I'm sure there was something in there once but over cooking had resulted in it being a dry and tasteless mess. The same armour coating was also present on the battered sausage and I had to give up half way through because of severe jaw ache. If you can't offer to cook food fresh for your customer then don't offer it at all.

Have used this fish and chip shop a couple of times previously as it is local but not been impressed. Decided to give it another go and after asking politely to have a portion of the freshly cooked chips that I had just seen cooked (as they have tasted "warmed up" previously); I was brusquely told I would have to wait until other orders were done. I had paid up front and after other customers came in and were served I asked if they were going to serve me next. The lady owner said in a very rude manner that I would have to wait longer if I wouldn't have the chips from the front and said they had a choice of which to serve. When I pointed out that it was my choice as a customer she said I am the owner and thrust my money at me and told me to leave!

Delicious fish and chips,love that the fish is always cooked to order. Staff are very friendly and give excellent service. Won't bother going anywhere else. Merry Christmas to you all

Best fish and chips in town! They have just won an award for their fish and chips. The fish is always cooked for you and the fish comes in a box which keeps the beautiful batter lovely and crisp and chips are separate .. Can't praise it enough.. try and enjoy

We eat from here at least once a fortnight and it is always excellent! Fish is pure white and tasty with a crispy battery. Chips are perfect and the peas are just right. We think it's the best in the area

Seen the reviews on this fish shop and arrived to see 2016 best fish shop in Lincolnshire. Award stuck in the window. Who judged this? We ordered fish and chips with sausage and a fish cake peas and gravy. Fish looked beautiful and it was good but placed in a cumbersome box with everything else wrapped in paper. As I said fish was good. fish cake mediocre, sausage disgusting even the cat wouldn't eat it. Peas tasteless and unseasoned and gravy bland like water. Needless to say we won't be going back. I was gutted as I had high expectations and was let down badly. On a positive note staff were very pleasant

This fish bar was recommended by a friend. The fish is served in a box separate from the chips which prevents it from sticking to the chips and the batter going soggy.

We use this chip shop alot in my opinion the best in the area the fish is so fresh cooked while you wait fantastic

Enjoyed the freshest fish and perfect chips from any take away in our area. Since hearing from others how good Peaks Lane Fish Bar is we tried for ourselves and must rate it as our 1st choice. Food cooked to order for the great results and freshly cooked fish is placed in a separate box to chips which ensures the quality remains constant.

Firstly... any chips cooked in beef dripping has to be good. (Well except for vegetarians I guess).

Fresh fish fried to order by friendly staff ,fish is in separate cardboard box and chips in a greaseproof bag so the 2 dont mix and go soggy.Lovely crispy even batter mix fried to perfection .Recommend going there any time ,also the fishcakes are really good home made and have plenty of fish in them .

Visited yesterday for large bag of chips a sausage fishcake and two pots of curry for my kids. The portion size is absolutely massive the fishcake was full of fish and not just potatoes like most chippys. Price is fair too staff was quite but as busy so they was just getting on with there jobs.

Tried this for first time today and was extremely impressed, fish And chips fried to order, a mountain of scraps, fish served in a box, travelled really well and was not all soggy when I got home, thoroughly recommend , will try the fish cake next time

Had a fish and chip supper for the first time since the new owners have taken over. Freshly cooked Fish and chips excellent. Worth the extra few minutes wait whilst your meal is being cooked. Highly recommended and Staff very good. Will become my favourite chippy!

Moved back to the area recently and this is my nearest chippy, doesn't look much from the outside but it does the best fresh fish I have had in years. Cooked to order and melts in the mouth, definitely recommend.

Absolutely brilliant fish. Cooked to order as you arrive and the fish is fresh not frozen. Amazingly tasty. Staff were friendly and polite and we have fed a family of four for only £13 we've just moved to the area and have been more than impressed with our first visit here. Many more visits will occur i'm sure and peaks lane will become our regular fish and chip shop.

Have used this Fish & Chip shop for many years and has always delivered the goods. This is great for us as we live in walking distance when staying in the area.

Excellent fish and chips! Homemade fishcakes are the best around. We have been converted from our usual chirpy and will be returning here from now on. Greeted by friendly staff who show a interest in making conversation. Excellent, highly recommend.

Wanted fish and chips last night but couldn't be bothered to have to go out and get them and a friend recommended this fish shop as they deliver . I was amazed what great service this was as no other fish shop does this. I was even more amazed when i got my fish and chips as the fish was huge ( presented in a box). The batter was crispy and the fish was fresh and white . Lovely chips as well . Will not be going anywhere els from now on .

We called in by chance after seeing the under new management sign and was really pleased we did. Fantastic fresh Grimsby haddock perfectly battered and cooked, and staff were really friendly will definitely be calling in again.

Ordered fish and chips could not believe the size of the fish, best fresh fish I have eaten. Talked to the new owners and they also have a fresh fish company hence why the fish was so fresh. Will definitely go back.
