The best restaurants serving British food in Churston-with-Galmpton Torbay South West

Very welcoming environment and the staff go out their way to ensure your experience is pleasant. Cost was about average for a pub lunch and nothing unexpected. The meals were hot and brought out in a timely manner. Though as excellent as our server Claire was she failed to bring out the peppercorn sauce for my steak on her head. I mean just because she had her hands full with our meals. Maybe they should invest in some hats to be able to carry more. Jokes aside she was lovely and so was the other staff and we will definitely be back again.

Food excellent but staff were the worse I have encountered. We had to go to bar to ask for more drinks and starter plates to be cleared. Staff were all hiding in corner of bar chatting together so this ment we did not get a great service and poor interaction. We waited 45 minutes for us to be told the young girl has the wine but can’t serve us, then 15 minutes later came back saying they could not find the wine and would we like another choice. We then had to wait another 10 minutes to be served. Then we had to ask for bill with now more plates sitting on table from dinner again we had to ask to be cleared. When checking bill was had lots of things on it that we did not have. Total cock up and no apologies for bad service.

Dinner was really good. Everything tasted really good but the exceptional part was the service, the wait staff couldn't do enough for us. An absolute treat.

Great service and menu choice. The Thursday night special of cod and chips was delicious. We were staying near by and ate there each evening.

Really enjoyed the Cod and the batter, which were very tasty indeed. 10 out of 10. Sadly dissapointed with the chips which were overly firm; I suspect it was the variety of patato which seemed to be 'chewey' and pretty tasteless. Maybe they just don't flash well? And, sadly, the curry sauce was lacking in flavour and too wet (it made the paper so soggy it ripped - yes even the multiple layers. We have kept re-trying this place overall the last 9 years, as it has such a good reputation, but it never seems to get it completely right. I would still recommend it, but I suppose it's just a bit of a gamble. Sorry guys, you are friendly and efficient, your premises are neat and tidy; but I just don't think we are 'simpatico', as the Spanish would say.

Didn't know an omelette and chips could be so disgusting. Tasted of oil and nothing else, but somehow, the egg still managed to be dry. Miserable staff who bring the words "bulldog" and "wasp" to mind. The actual building itself is like eating in a toilet block at a festival. I would probably only recommend visiting at night time because the horrible little place will be shut. Unless you like being sick in your mouth on the way home that is.

Some of the worst interior decoration I have ever seen, a beautiful house full of cheap plastic rubbish, totally lacking in any kind of atmosphere or style, a truly nasty experience. This should be a wonderful place, but it's not.
