Waterside inn in Torbay

Food very mediocre and cold. Service was good. My roast turkey dinner looked nothing like the appetising picture on the menu. The mingy portion of roast potatoes were tough and stale. The frozen vegetables were watery. The turkey was preformed. One had beef rib and the rib was tender but same complaint about potatoes and vegd. Only six chips on the child’s meal. Would not return and will not recommend

Haven't been here for nearly 2 years after staff were rude and the diabolical zero star food hygiene review. Decided to give it another try and really glad I did. Total transformation there's Been a few minor cosmetic changes inside, the same drinks selection. But the food wow, I like my steak rare, and probably have to send it back 30-40% of the time as they over cook it. But not tonight. Spot on. Well done for turning it round. Only slight negative was the managers sat at our favorite table ( the booth) on their laptops. But if that's the only negative it isn't bad is it? Lol

The food was very good, the Hunters Chicken was nicely cooked and very tender, one of the best hunters chickens I have eaten. The service was very quick especially considering they had a big group of people just turning up as well.

Greeted by very friendly staff, excellent value meal and dessert, nothing too much trouble. Best meal of our two week holiday Shane it was the last day. We will be back!!!!

This pub brings back many fond memories of family holidays in the area. As a child we used to visit it with my family, dad would always have a pint, mum a bitter lemon and my sister and I a coke and a bag of golden wonder cheese and onion crisps! This was back in the 70s n 80s. Have always wanted to go in and have a pint with my kids, for old times sake! Yesterday we did! OMG what a mistake. A grotty dirty pub. A Greene King…. 7 of us for dinner, majority of menu items out of stock, asked for San Miguel and was served Madri, the food order eventually taken, was served, it was what it was! What you’d expect. The worst part of our visit was the toilets, when I went in, I disturbed a “Deal”. And when I took my son in was horrified to whiteness someone “using”. This is supposedly a family pub. Obviously a drug pub! Never again, don’t do it. Shocking. Greene King sort it out it’s a holiday resort!

Went to this pub for a Sunday roast dinner & on the 2nd occasion, for a birthday meal. Great service, food & atmosphere. Food is fantastic & good value for money. On the 2nd occasion, we stayed for the quiz night. It was great fun & we were well entertained. The quizmaster demonstrated humour, confidence & a great personality, which made the evening even more enjoyable & was a refreshing change

Massive option for food. My steak was amazing. Not a big wait and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

On entry to the bar we were greeted by a friendly staff member, ordering was easy, food arrived properly and was really tasty

Went with a group of friends and was very disappointed, firstly we had a very long wait to be served. When it arrived it was not the best to say the least. Myself and a few others had the chicken diane, we all agreed, the chicken was tough and the sauce was worse we were all hungry after the long wait we ate it but didn't enjoy it. Also the ice-cream you served wasn't the best. We came in a group but won't be returning if its your venue unless you can guarantee better food. Such a shame and disappointing.

What an absolutely stunning meal. Thought we would try while we were in the area and we were not left disappointed. The service was great and staff very polite.

Kim was fantastic, great host and very attentive. My partner and I came here for drinks and a game of pool and it was a very relaxed and chilled atmosphere. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who wishes to come to a pub that has great food, drinks staff and and energy.

We visit the waterside weekly as a couple and as family for visits, the new manager has worked wonders, the place has transformed in the last few months. Food has improved and staff a welcoming and friendly, before we came because it was convient. We now go because we love it, we would recommend the place 100%

We arrived here at 5pm tonight,our table was booked for 5.15,for myself,my husband and our 13 year old son after reading good reviews. Staff friendly and welcoming,but here the positivity ends Our son needed to go to the toilet before eating his comment when he came back was ‘ that was disgusting in there’ At 5.40 our food arrived,bearing in mind when we arrived there were only2 people eating and no one else in there The food,what can I say apart from mediocre ‘Sizzling’ platters where described on the menu,no they were not,the only enjoyable part were the chopped up onions on the bottom

Sadly an awful experience here on Saturday, arrived at 5.30 and ordered pretty soon as knew what we wanted. We were a table of 4 adults and 1 child so not a massively difficult/large order. We waited over 50 minutes for our food, we were not advised when ordering the wait could be that long. 1 of the meals was not cooked as ordered (a steak) so that went back (only to take a long time to come out again) and another meal was completely different than had been ordered. We sent that back only for it to come out wrong again, eventually the correct meal was brought out. A complimentary drink was offered (and accepted) for this meal and deserts were also offered but after waiting so long for the mains we weren't prepared to wait even longer for puddings even if they were free. We went out early to eat early as had young children with us and needed to get back. It's such a shame you can't get the orders correct and out in a reasonable time, perhaps you need to limit the menu in order to know what you are offering and that it isn't too difficult to get right.
