I usually reserve this place for school reunions at Easter, but went with 2 friends whilst in the area again. Very impressed by the extensive menu, catering for vegan, gluten-free as standard. Really enjoyed the beetroot & butternut squash Wellington although I'm not a vegan. Very friendly staff & reasonable pricing. Free parking in an extensive car park. Looking forward to my next visit !!

Large family group booked sunday lunch. Food went cold due to the wait for the veg to come out (10mins later) . The waiter was not at fault as he did his best but should of had more help with bringing plates and veg dishes out all together. Waited 20mins for dessert menus that didnt arrive Decided pay our bill and go Awful service Restaurant manger didnt even acknowledge our complaint when made,no eye contact made as we left

Very poor service, had been recommended for sunday lunch so myself and my family went, 14 in total. Food was served by one person which seemed to take an age, veg came out after, by then meals were cold, im surprised more staff didn't bring the meals out. After the meal they took our plates away, they then asked if we want to see the desert menu which we said yes, they never came back so we asked for the bill and left.

We've really enjoyed going here for lunch from time to time. The Railway Inn is quite close to us so is very convenient. We really like their 2 for1 afternoons menu and think it is very well priced. Staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. Well done, Railway Inn!

A lovely pub atmosphere but food quality has gone down since we visited in recent years. We ordered pizza and steak which were reasonable but the belly pork was disappointing with soggy beans, and microwaved or overly reheated potatoes

Visited before and had the best experience, recommended to friends and family food was amazing The staff was great. We was greeted and served by what I believed are the owners. What a lovely couple. Didn’t mind we spent around £200 for starters main and we had to share a desert x2 bottles of fabulous wine. Booked a table as I invited my parents, to treat them after I’ve been speaking about how great it was, it’s sadly wasn’t up to its standard that we experienced before the food quality seemed to have gone downhill, and the service was poor, things missing off the menu which I get this does happen I ordered the steak as well and for £33.approx it really wasn’t worth the money 3 tiny mushrooms a dried fillet, my dad ordered the gammon and eggs. The egg was unfortunately not cooked, don’t mind the runny oak but this was transparent and put a lot of people off! I feel that this is such a shame as it was a nice find.

Great place. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was fresh home cooked, and very reasonably priced. I had the steak and ale pie from the 2 4 1 menu, the steak was tender melted in your mouth and so tasty. There is a dog friendly section which was ideal for us. Overall a great little find.

Disappointed as been previously and had outstanding Sunday lunch. This time had lasagne which should be layers of meat sauce and pasta. It was so shallow barely any meat sauce and looked shrunk in dish was so thin. Salad was sparse, good job ordered sides of chips. Sausage and mash more like a children’s meal. Whilst 2 4 1, had it been ordered alone was a very poor portion. Long wait even though pub quiet. We had recommended going here with friends so very let down

We had a lovely 4 night stay, warmly welcomed. Room was a decent size with everything we needed. Breakfast was freshly cooked using quality goods. Staff were friendly and helpful. Decent sized car park. Set on the outskirts of Brixham on a bus route.

Excellent food, good service and reasonable price. Who can ask for more? Menu goes from pub basics to full on restaurant.

I can only use one word to sum up the Sunday lunch "WOW". I would reccomend the experience to all and would challenge anybody to find any issue with the food. The atmosphere and staff are on form and very proffesional, but keeping old fashioned values to intercat with the customer. This is a great business, that has had alot of hard work put into it to make it work. The establishment is a little gem, visit, enjoy and spread the word.

We had a family funeral to attend and had pre-booked food for 13 people. Everyone arrived early and were offered tea and coffee by the attentive team. The food was delivered promptly and was absolutely delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Once the funeral was over we all came back to the Inn for another round of coffees and were dealt with with courtesy. I would not hesitate to recommend the Railway Inn and thank them for looking after us all so well during what was a emotionally draining day.

Had 1:00 pm pre-paid booking for Xmas day lunch at The Railway Inn. Received first course at 1:10 and then ………..?!? Spoke to 3 different waiters and the bar lady over next hour and a half to say we hadn’t had our turkey. They all said they would check. Finally, at 3:00 pm we received our turkey. Everyone else had finished whole meal, some were leaving. We received no explanation or apology. Offered complimentary drinks because of delay then waiter forgot to bring them to us and I had to ask again. Didn’t even get last 2 courses that we’d paid for of mince pies and homemade fudge. I had lost interest by then, nearly everyone else had left and I couldn’t be bothered asking anymore. Sent email complaining. No reply! Sent another email a few days later. No reply. No apology. Nothing! Weird way of dealing with customers. At least I know where I won’t be going next Xmas, or any other time!

Our New Year's Day lunch visit was faultless. Beautifully cooked venison and an excellent brunch (a great menu idea for a bank holiday). The service and welcome , like the lemon posset, were first class, too.

Today 13/12/2023 was our Christmas Lunch for 17 ladies of a certain age. Pre-booked and pre-ordered lunch. It was truly delicious. The food was exceptional, tasty, flavoursome and hot. Served by very professional and friendly staff, including the general manager Mark, who was attentive on a day which had a full restaurant at lunchtime. Full credit must go to the chef and colleagues who did a marvellous job. We shall certainly be returning. Thank you to everyone at The Railway Inn

I called in last minute for a spot of lunch after reading great reviews about the place. I'm pleased to say....IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT !!!! I have worked in the Food Industry for a number of years and therefore am quite critical when eating out. However, I can honestly say .... THE FOOD WAS STUNNING and couldn't be faulted in anyway. The food was RESTAURANT QUALITY and not just good pub grub !! Beautifully presented, good portions, cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Beautifully decorated for the Christmas season, the ambience of the pub was warm and welcoming, as were the staff. Now that I am living in Devon, I will definitely be eating at The Railway Inn again and RECOMMEND TO ALL !!!

Booked for a Sunday Carvery for 12 and never had anything so disgusting. Food was cold, not cooked, they ran out of roast potatoes and had to wait 10 minutes for them to bring more out. Wont ever go there again!!!!!

Booked a table on Wednesday 8th November for 2 people, booking was accepted and confirmed. Member of staff called me on Friday 10th November to ask if we wanted to cancel booking as they had a table of 15 and a table of 20 booked and as our booking was only for 2 we would be served after the larger bookings and told we would have to wait a long time for our food. We cancelled, as a booking for 2 is obviously not important to the railway inn management team, having been there several times with several friends and live local I will no longer give them my custom, so I hope the larger bookings will be returning customers as I and my friends will not. Very poor customer service!!!

Initially was a bit sceptical as walked into the bar full of rugby players. Check in was very friendly and taken to room. Spacious room with tea and coffee making facilities, very quiet location. Breakfast was in the bar area and lots to choose from. Would definitely recommend

Looks like a regular boozer when you first go in but appearances are deceptive. The excellence of the food was a surprise and the friendly and welcoming service and relaxed atmosphere made this a great place to eat. I had one of the specials - braised lamb in red wine gravy with a suet crust, roasties and lovely fresh mixed veg. The beef and jail ale pie was also excellent. The homemade custard tart was delicious but I think would be better served with something lighter than clotted cream which was too thick to complement the lightness of the custard. Ice cream or a raspberry sorbet would be my preference. Really enjoyed this place, wish it was my local! Highly recommended.

The food here is spectacular but the service is soooooo sloooow. Arrived at 5.30 still waiting for desserts at 7.15 PM. The wait for food is too long. Need more staff. It's a shame because it could be a really good place to eat if they sped up a bit ☹️

Oh my goodness. What a fabulous find. I visited this evening with my partner and parents and what a delicious meal we had. The pies were amazing! So much lovely steak, very generous!! My partner had the fish and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it! Looking forward to visiting again!

First glass of wine, a Chilean Saugvignon Blanc. It was barely drinkable. Decided to order a medium-size (175 ml) glass of the Marlborough Saugvignon Blanc instead during the next round. £9.30! I thought that a mistake had been made with the pricing. Unfortunately not. Whilst I acknowledge that costs have gone up, this is a prime example of taking the proverbial. Extortionate!
