Small park offering good views of the bay and Torquay's seafront. There are a few benches where you can sit, and a boarded up pavilion in the centre where a couple of portaloos have been placed. There is also a small memorial to servicemen (Home Guard) who died at Corbyn Head from enemy bombs during WW2.

Great area for rockpooling at low tide. You can also reach the cave at the front of the head within an hour or so each side of low tide.

If you’re looking for a dog-friendly beach all year round, Livermore Sands is right next door, go there instead. It’s maybe 8 minutes walk away. It’s not a huge beach either, but dog-friendly.

Often come here to pay homage to the gun crews who gave so that we could live, and to look at the amazing 360° views. Sat here for the airshow on Sunday last and was not disappointed. Pity the toilets were locked though. One disabled toilet to serve everybody who went to the head (huh, nice) was not enough.

First of all please note that some of the reviews below refer to the Corbyn Head Hotel and not the small beach cafe opposite the Grand Hotel. The beach café is superb with wonderful views of the bay, The owners, Steve and Lyndon, are extremely friendly and are always up for a bit of banter with customers. The food and drinks are all reasonably priced and the food is very tasty. There is a wide variety of meals, snacks, cakes, drinks and ice creams all served in a beautiful location. The cafe is generally open most days but is dependent on weather and well deserved holidays.

We ordered drinks from an extremely unfriendly member of staff. We did not notice it was cash only. When we were told I said I would go to get some cash. The staff in the cafe were so rude and abusive to me. I was with my elderly mother she ended in tears and we left. We have reported to trading standards and from reviews already left by others this isn’t the first time. I strongly suggest to all to avoid this establishment

The gentleman that served us looked very stressed. We ordered our food and drinks and sat down to feed our nine month old baby. The serving gentleman on walking past us after serving next to us, made a passing comment that we cannot eat our own food. My daughter cooks her own baby food as he is so young and he was having his mid morning snack. The man was very rude when I tried to explain he didnt want to listen and abruptly said he works too many hours. Maybe he should consider doing less hours or getting another job.

Had just finished a lovely sea swim, 2 extremely RUDE men verbally attacked a fellow swimmer as we were getting changed, both men shouted & swore in a very aggressive manner, clearly they were setting up to open, all they needed to say was, 'morning, we're going to be opening, would you mind moving please'. Obviously being polite is something alien to them. Completely unnecessary & very upsetting... people beware!!

Corbyn Head/beach is used by locals as it’s a bit more convenient to park your car off street and have a day on the beach. There are beach huts some of which I believe are rented out by the Council. Beach is somewhat stoney plenty of rock pools to interest youngsters. Corbyn head has lovely views over Torbay you can watch sailing boats and leisure craft from on high. Also a good place to see various Firework events from time to time.

Stayed here for two nights recently while down with family, and sadly I have nothing nice to say about it. We had 4 rooms between us and not one was very clean, there were remains left in drawers and crumbs on the floor. The mattress’ were all hard and worn out (ours had a massive dip in it making it very difficult to get comfortable, we ended up turning the mattress over just so we could get some sleep). All rooms had nearly no toilet roll left on arrival meaning we had all ran out after just 1 night! they didn’t even get replaced when the rooms were ‘cleaned’. The bath in one room didn’t work at all and had to be filled up with the shower head and our ‘complimentary’ biscuits were all open and half eaten. The TV barely worked turning off and on at any given moment. The advertised ‘free wifi’ didn’t work at all and when we asked about it we were told that it was because of the weather.. it was sunny outside (see photo attached) If you use the bar then be prepared to have to go looking for a staff member and be huffed and puffed at in foreign languages just because you would like a drink. If you wish to use the swimming pool during your stay, don’t get your hopes up. It was closed the entire time we were there. Now onto breakfast.. When looking at the menu the breakfast all sounds lovely.. until your order. I asked for the continental breakfast as it was advertised as a selection of pastries, fresh fruit, a selection of jams and honey with toast. The lady just pointed to the buffet table where there wasn’t any pastries whatsoever just a toaster, a selection of 3 cereals and a pot of unappetising jam. Myself and a couple of other members of our party ordered sausages and bacon and were brought over plates with just 1 small sausage and 1 small rasher of bacon on them! Safe to say we were all still hungry afterwards! It’s safe to say this hotel looks nothing like the pictures it uses to advertise. We have all decided none of us will be staying here again.

Simply a hidden gem, lovely walk on the sea front then a proper old fashion mug of tea at £1.60 then a cooked breakfast which was properly one of the best in torbay and wait for it only £3.95 Yes the cafe could do with being modernised with card machine payments and a drinks licence for the afternoon's and evening's and just a little investment, however you can't beat the view and food anywhere in torbay, simply the best.

Phoning up started well with a pleasant conversation. The initial impression of the restaurant room was also nice enough. From there it went downhill. Firstly the food. I'm really surprised there aren't more poor reviews as what we got served (a family of 3 adults eating a meal for Mothers' day) was really pretty terrible. The best of it was the reasonable size of chicken (though well over-cooked), the worst was the melon starter which was tiny and cut right to the skin where it is tough, the luke-warm veg, and a very strange chicken filling of sliced flavourless tomato with an out of a bottle sauce. I could best describe as something you may be served from a school or Uni canteen. The second issue was the service when dining. We asked what the pate was made from and was told chicken (later turned out to be pork) they then said they'd check for other dishes. We asked about the crumble and were told apple (it turned out to be rhubarb). I asked for a second small roll with my soup but it never arrived. My mother ordered a brownie with clotted cream but it came with small amount of ice-cream (when we asked for it to be swapped it was and came with twice as much clotted cream so some was left). The most disappointing part of the service was when finally asked at the end of the meal weather we enjoyed the food (we hadn't been asked earlier) I said we all thought it was poor and I got told by the manager/owner that the plates were all empty so we must have liked it. I was very unhappy with the manner in which he responded to our enjoyment of the meal. Lastly the value for money should be considered. The price for a meal that required no chef skills and probably worse than a very average home cook would be satisfied with serving/eating they were charging just shy of £18/person for the 3 courses. The bill was reduced by £5 (less than 10%) and the manager said he will be in touch tomorrow by email. So what might a reasonable person say it was worth, probably in the region of £10 but it was so bad you'd probably never choose to eat out at such a quality if you had a choice.

I wanted to get a rating the same as their hygiene rating (4) but not even close. They have 9 items on the menu (starters, mains & desserts) which I’m okay with but the main course Butternut Squash was only that and nothing else. Paid £24 for starter and main but wouldn’t pay more than 50p if I came back. Wasn’t offered any drinks at all.

Next to noisy road but had to have windows open as no air conditioning. Needs a lot of money spending on the place. Had to move rooms twice as windows were broken and could not open. Toilet seat broken, very poor plumming as water drains slowly and taps have to be almost fully open before water comes. On plus side staff very friendly which makes you feel sorry for them as the place needs a lot of care and attention as well as investment. Torquay centre about 30 minutes walk.

Had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Dinner was 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £25 and the food was nicely cooked with a larger amount of vegetable, and more imaginative selection, than is usual. We are not vegetarian so didnt really register what the vegetarian offer was for dinner but this could be a good place for vegetarians. Breakfast was a standard offering except that coffee comes in a pretty small pot. 4 choices of fruit juice, cereals and the cooked breakfast prepared to order. Extra charge if you want smoked salmon though.

The restaurant, the table with the sea view, the staff were all perfect and excellent value. The only thing stopping it getting a five was the over use of salt in the liver gravy. This was not helped by the accompanying bacon being very salty also. The rest of the meal was perfect. You are made so welcome the minute you set foot in the door.I would definitely go again.

Not many restaurants have classic waiters dressed in dark suits and pretty waitresses in traditional dress. Manners superb and service excellent. Nothing too much trouble. They cater for large parties easily and all set up now old-fashioned elegance. From the duck to terrine through the plaice to the dark chocolate torte it was a dream. Lovely touches like a wine waiter and home made rolls, truffles and shortbread biscuits. Dessert and coffee served in the lounge. Even a good old cloakroom for your coat. Carpet in the luxurious loo (complete with chaise longue) could do with a clean and the addition of paper towels. Plenty of parking and wonderful view. Recommend.

This was one of the nicest Sunday lunches I have head for a long time. The food was all excellent, I had the mushroom risotto to start which was one of the nicest I have ever tasted.... My beef main course was perfectly cooked... The roast potatoes weren't as good as they might have been if they were trying to live up to the standards of all the other lovely flavours. And they did run out of ice cream which is a minor black mark! But I really enjoyed the meal here, service was good although my friends and partner said this has been better in the past. You pay a little more to be pampered here so expect the best! Will definitely come back many times hopefully

I have avoided reviewing the Corbyn Head in the past, despite it being my favourite and regular Sunday lunch venue. The Sunday Lunch , £16+, and the overall experience is the best in Torbay. Fortunately 99% of those who go there dress correctly for the venue and are respectful of others. Booking is strongly recommended.

Had previously stayed at their sister hotel the Livermead and decided to try this hotel on our way to Cornwall. It looked very nice from outside and we where quite pleased to upgraded to a room at the front of the hotel with a sea view and balcony. Our advice would be not to stay in a similar room at this hotel on a bank holiday Friday. The traffic noise did not stop until 2.30. in the morning so we had little sleep. The evening meal in the bar was very good as was breakfast.

Worst place I’ve ever worked for. They change the labels in the kitchen of food that’s basically bad. How can you serve something that you wouldn’t eat yourself. The kitchen underportion loads and furthermore I wasn’t allowed to go home when I was sick and throwing up 🤮🤢 grim place man. FOH all lovely and good bar tho 🫡
