The best restaurants serving British food in Backwell North Somerset South West

It's closed down! Visited Saturday 15th June and it's completely shut down!

We popped in for lunch, sadly the kitchen was being refurbished BUT, when we said oh dear, and could he recommend somewhere and also be able to park the car, he said, no problem, just leave the car here and made various alternative suggestions. We went round town, had some lunch and of course went back for a lovely gin at about 3:00. Great old fashioned service.

Lovely pub with very friendly staff. Expensive drinks but the food was lovely. Just one thing which seems to be happening in more and more eating venues was the American style 10% gratuity payment added to the bill!? By adding this cost without the initial agreement of the customer, is designed to make it just too embarrassing to challenge when paying! I personally would rather leave a cash tip for the staff if they serve you well! So basically add on 10% when you look at the advertised prices in this pub!

My local bakers, so called in to get a pasty and some cakes. Service was appalling. Kept working at the oven and setting out goods without a word of 'sorry to keep you waiting' or. better still, showing a bit of customer service by stopping and serving me. Service when it came was unsmiling, and the pasty was lukewarm at best, though to give it its due, it was tasty (chicken). Most of the stuff it sells is fine - I like their cakes and pastries - it's just the service that lets it down. (This wasn't just this time. Being the local bakers my daughter and I have used it several times in the recent past and the experience has always been the same or similar).

Volando al mediodía después de la hora ocupada del día. Estábamos muy decepcionados. Nos atendió una señora muy amable y nos aconsejó que nos sentaríamos en la zona del bar. Había migas y comida de un cliente anterior, así que la señora barrió las migas a un lado con la mano (no limpiado). La ropa del personal se amontonó encima de la nevera. Se le pidió a un hombre que limpiara la nevera y dijo que no, así que otra señora más joven tuvo que hacerlo. El estado general de la zona era sucio y caro. No existía una jerarquía de gestión aparente. Este solía ser el bar "Nice" en el aeropuerto de Bristol y ahora no tiene orgullo. Después de bebidas muy caras nos alegramos de no comer allí.
