We had a lovely dinner. Well presented, tastes were lovely and careful thought had gone into the dishes with local and seasonal ingredients. I would like to have bought some of the art but the one we liked had already sold and the others were out of my price range. 😅 The rest of the building is also interesting with a range of film memorabilia.

It was my birthday and we booked a roast Sunday dinner from6.30pm. The food and service were exemplary and I was dismayed to hear negative comments from the diners next to us, which were both unfounded and unfair. I am a vegetarian since 1987 and the nut roast offered was without doubt the best I have ever tasted. Everything about this meal was superb and my compliments go to both the chef and the excellent waiting staff. Cannot wait to come again.

I came here for work and brought my boyfriend on a whim after seeing the facilities of the hotel. It's genuinely an incredible hotel but the restaurant oh my goodness. I didn't even think before hand to do my usual inspection of the menu. My boyfriend had the roast beef with vegetables and onion rings. I had the mixed bean loaf with veg and a side salad. The beef was so juicy and tender, the gravy apparently delicious and the onion rings were gorgeous. My veggie option was delicious, as was the veg gravy. The veg was cooked perfectly and had plenty of variety. The side salad was also delicious and fresh. The finalé was the winter berry cheese cake. Good god it was very good and I could have eaten a whole cake. Ronnie, our server was a lot of fun and very attentive, making the experience even better. Cannot recommend enough.

We are visiting the area and were delighted to see this pub was local and dog friendly, so checked it out with the mind to have a few evening/lunchtime meals during our stay. So we went late afternoon and had a couple of drinks. All was well, we sat in the bar with our two very well behaved dogs as it was raining. When it stopped raining we stepped out into the front pub garden. There were Guinea pigs in a cage, so my partner walked over with our (very well behaved) Labrador to have a look. The dog was sniffing the cage and wagging her tail. Not barking/growling, jumping up or anything like that. We are animal lovers, and have kept Guinea pigs for years and would defo not scare little furries! Next thing a short fat woman came out of the pub and I heard her say something like ‘your dog is terrorising the Guinea pigs’! I heard my partner laugh, and I too thought she was joking! The Guinea pigs were definitely not stressed…..one came out to say hello! It turned out she wasn’t joking as she then became quite angry at us and marched back into the pub! I’m not actually sure who she was….the landlady or a local nutcase! Just to say that if you were the landlady and you think your Guinea pigs will become stressed by friendly people and dogs in your busy ‘dog friendly’ pub garden, I suggest you remove them to a less public place. Simple. If not maybe you should consider a new vocation. Safe to say that was our first and last visit, so cannot comment on the food. Your loss.
