A lovely garden with so much to see even out of the main garden season. The hydrangeas are amazing and the astilbes must look wonderful in the spring. The borders still looked good and the plants for sale reasonably priced . Some weeding and dead heading was needed and they need to get a grip of the Himalayan Balsam in the bog garden or it will invade even further. Overall a lovely garden with a fascinating history.

I ve been visiting Marwood tea rooms fir a few years now when buying my beautiful bumble bee 🐝 plants at their gardens . The Marwood gardens are nothing but a living splendour of vibrancy and bloom 🌸creativity . After several hours of enjoying the fragrances of local and exotic flowers with a new emerging colours you pleasantly tyred sit down in their , under the new management , tea room served with freshly prepared light lunch or a wonderfully baked ginger Devonshire cream tea . I ve also seen some home baked cakes , amongst those is a coconut 🥥 cake which I definitely go back to fetch some . The stuff is ever so pleasant and cheerful , mind , that is something new about the Marwood Tea rooms since taken over by a new , young and ever so fine manager Georgie . What a fine place to take your besties there ✨😎👨👩👧👦👩❤️💋👨🐾🐾🥰. Yozi

We visited the tearoom on 14th July. After visiting 4 times previously on holiday and being very impressed we took family there to have this lovely experience. However on this occasion it was so disappointing, the menus are the same as before and states you receive a pot of tea however this time for £5.99 it was a plastic cup of super strong tea. Nothing was served in China but all in plastic plates and boxes. The clotted cream was in a packet that you could buy from Tesco and the jam was also in a packet. For the money I spent it was a complete rip off and the staff were rude and abrupt. I appreciate that with covid lots of things are different but everywhere else we went still served our food on a Plate that was not plastic. If your going to change things the prices should also be changed and you should not be false advertising. Unfortunately we will not be returning again.

First visit since lockdown. One cream tea £7 served in a box that you would have fish and chips in. Two small scones, a titchy tub of jam and a small tub Rodda clotted cream. A wooden knife to assemble. The jam was inadequate and the cream not sufficient to cover the scones. Served with tea in a large disposable mug. I realise that things are different during the easing of lockdown but the price didn’t reflect the contents.

We have visited many times before and had lovely food here but our last visit was disappointing. They now have a very limited menu consisting mainly of toast and scones with wooden cutlery. I assume this type of cutlery is for hygiene reasons but it makes no sense when you have to touch a communal sugar pot with a lid if you wish to put sugar in your tea! My husband had a cream tea but didn’t eat it all as the scone was under cooked. Anyway, the garden is as beautiful as ever and well worth a visit just don’t expect too much from the tea room.

I visited the Gardens with my mother, sister, niece & Westie on Saturday & as the weather looked changeable at best I thought it a good idea to reserve a table in the tearoom for lunch. I sent an email asking if this was possible on the Friday & received a reply Saturday morning saying that the dog friendly table had been reserved for us @ 1. After a lovely couple of hours walking around the gardens we arrived back at the tearoom where a reserved note with my name on had been placed. We were warmly welcomed and after deciding what to have, our drinks & food were promptly brought over (along with a dog treat for Misty). All the food was of an excellent standard & I can highly recommend the savoury scones. We decided that we needed a short walk & to see the last of the remaining gardens before tackling the cakes so we did so. On our return the staff had remembered that I’d mentioned on my email that it was my mums birthday & when they brought out our cakes & coffees they sang happy birthday to her which was a lovely touch. Apart from the lovely food & drink, the professionalism & warmth from the staff was great. I will definitely be returning with my dog & family in the near future.

Very nice tea room with outdoor seating and inside restaurant with lovely large windows that can be opened on warm days. We had Devon Cream teas each and they were lovely. 2 large scones which were warm, ample jam and clotted cream and a lovely pot of tea.

We visited the beautiful gardens, which are absolutely stunning, well kept and in full bloom. On the way out we stoped for a snack, what can I say..... Pastu and salad was simply amazing, so fresh and colourful, but the cake and treacle tart was probably the best we have ever had, just wow! If you're ever on the area drop in, the food there is so daily fresh and tasty. Definitely a recommendation.

This cafe in the gardens can be got to free of charge, but it is worth paying the entry fee and going round the gardens as well. The coffee is excellent, as was the food we had (toasted tea cakes with just about enough butter to make them not quite dry, but they would have benefitted from at least one more butter pat per serving). The menu had a range of other sweet offerings, including different scones, and there is also a range of what looked like good cakes on display. Although we weren’t there at lunch time, I appears that a few savoury options are made available then.

Before touring the gardens we called in to the tea room for lunch. We ordered pasties with salad. What a treat! The salads were fresh and tasty. The pasties were simply the best we had eaten anywhere. The serving staff were delightful. friendly and efficient. We sat under a parasol outside as we had our dog with us. He was provided with a bowl of water and a little treat. Such a nice touch.Other customers were very chatty and friendly and everyone was amazed at the quality of food, the amount served, the excellent service by the staff and the lovely surroundings. After lunch we walked the gardens and can honestly say they were the nicest gardens that we visited in Devon. A joy to be able to take our well behaved dog unlike RHS Rosemoor.! The wisteria pergola was spectacular. Azaleas and rhododendrons were in full flower too. We walked along the valley and it was a delight to see the trees and shrubs all labelled. This was really informative. We so enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend it. On our way out of the garden we stopped again at the cafe for a cuppa and a scone. Once again the best cream tea we have had in Devon. the freshest scones and lashings of clotted cream. can't recommend this place highly enough. We also called in at plant sales on our way out. Great varieties but rather expensive. It was the best day of our holiday. Absolutely perfect.

Ive been here for two weeks and this tearoom was the best visited ( Ive averaged 1.5 a day) . The staff were very polite , helpful, beautiful and friendly . The scones came with a solid amount of jam and cream and there was no taste of baking soda ( a common issue I've found) . The tea was also delicious. Would recommend !

Lovely Tea Room, probably the best I have visited in the last year or two. The salad served with my Devon Pasty (yum) was very varied in its content, and not just the usual lettuce/tomato/cucumber variety. My husband had a cream tea ( his one proviso for the four days we were in North Devon ) and declared it as excellent. Loads of room inside and out, and fantastic views of Marwood Hill gardens. Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. Extremely good value as well. Go and explore the gift shop at back of enclosed part of the Tea Room, some excellent items to be purchased !

Very impressed by the food. Quantity and quality. Good home-made food that would suit even the fussiest eater. There is a super view of the garden from the tea room so it is well worth having lunch here. There has been a cedar roofed veranda sort of thing added to the outside eating area over the winter which makes it a very pleasant place to sit.

Very well designed gardens. Really liked the fact that it was not "prim and proper" like some.Fairly easy walking around the lakes. The view from the top across the valley to the church is wonderful, unfortunately marred by the windturbines behind. This is not the fault of the gardens, more the local planning department.

Just visited this beautiful garden and decided to have coffee in this very smart Tearoom. Had a scone and butter which quite frankly was awful. Although the scone looked delicious the texture was mouth clogging. As a scone maker myself I could detect an over abundance of Bi-Carb in these and a total lack of flavour not even a hint of sweetness. The coffee however was delicious, but spoilt by the inedible scone. Please change the scone mixture or the cook.!

The Marwood Gardens are fabulous, as is the Tea Room/Cafe . But Do check opening times. TIP! : If you find yourself in the area but DON'T have time, inclination or weather to "DO" the grounds, you can enter the Cafe on a diversionary path, Best Welsh Rarebit have tasted for a long long time! Sorry to give a poor rating for romance and special ocasions but c'mon folks you wouldn't go to a garden cafe for either of these, would you?

Four of us popped in today and we were glad we did ! Looking through the window showed it was full but a table of four had just got up so we sat in their seats :) We all had the Breakfast at £11 each. Couldn’t fault the meal at all, plenty on the plate and locally sourced. Really good selection of coffee, tea and fresh orange 🍊 juice. Highly recommended Get a seat and order at the counter. Very pleasant polite service as well. Seating outside. Well done 👏👏

Stumbled across the cafe when we arrived in Ilfracombe and needed coffee. Quaint and characterful and clearly has it's regular customers. Coffee was good and hot but the homemade Eccles cake was amazing! The other treats looked good too. Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.

Lovely modern roomy lodges in a beautiful location. Breakfast choice was great, cooked breakfast very good & piping hot👍 Pub food also excellent, quick service, good choices. Most staff helpful & friendly. One member of staff who greeted us on arrival wasn't welcoming. Only a couple of minor things- rusty toilet roll holder which spoilt the rest of the very new bathroom & the shelf above sink is in the way. Suggestion - small fridge, there is room. Mirror near plug sockets. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
