Canvas Restaurant in North Devon

We had a lovely dinner. Well presented, tastes were lovely and careful thought had gone into the dishes with local and seasonal ingredients. I would like to have bought some of the art but the one we liked had already sold and the others were out of my price range. 😅 The rest of the building is also interesting with a range of film memorabilia.

An all round perfect evening. From the greeting on arrival, freedom to explore and view the variety of creative collections and the chic dining room amidst the current art exhibition being showcased and beautifully accompanied by a sophisticated choice of contemporary music. Ultimately, what was one of the finest culinary experiences in the UK for as long as I can remember! Each dish delivered was exquisite. A fusion of flavours that have to be experienced to be believed. Canvas restaurant is a hidden gem, thrilled to have discovered it and excited to revisit. You’d be foolish to pass it by…..

It’s a fantastic place with a wonderful atmosphere. Definitely one of the best places to eat and drink locally. The movie memorabilia collection is also incredible. One not to miss.

What a fantastic surprise! Feel blessed to have stumbled across this gem. The food was fantastic, the right balance of fine dining and local cuisine, professional but relaxed service, great music, and very reasonably priced. The icing on the cake is that the place is a treasure trove of interesting art, sculptures, taxidermy, original movie props and more. Brilliant evening.

Zero atmosphere. Service ok. Food average with tiny portions. I had toast when I got home. Won’t revisit.

Came here with my wife for dinner on our anniversary. The food was absolutely amazing, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely come back for dinner here again in the future.

Came for lunch on 20 April Service was rather slow at first Awful background music did not add to ambiance and I asked for it to be turned down then off 2 of the 4 mains were ok and fresh, they had to be as they were fish courses The other 2 were overcooked and dry and I strongly suspect had been warmed up in oven from previous day: chicken tagine and lamb shank Overall disappointing but I didn’t wish to make a fuss as it was a special occasion for my daughter and her husband (who had the 2 fresh dishes) A rather expensive meal for leftovers in small portions! Had I been alone I would have sent the food back On a positive note we did appreciate the complementary sparkly to celebrate the special occasion and the waitresses were very pleasant However needless to say I won’t be dining here again

Exquisite food and atmosphere with great service to top it off. Lovely staff, building and overall feeling there.

Stopped here to go round the sculpture Gardens, which are well with the visit and much much better than expected. Lovely cream tea on the terrace finished the trip off. Good value for money and lovely service.

Love, love, love the food at Broomhill. Unrivalled in Barnstaple in my opinion
