Every dish was perfect from crab cake starters to creme Brûlées. Our family table of six had three different choices of mains, salmon, chicken and venison. Every plate was perfect, with tasty sauces, jus, creamy leeks and lemon butter sauce with the fish. We all had desserts and wine too. This is how restaurants should be, great service, no rush and absolutely stunning food.

I’ve been here to try twice now and I don’t see how it’s award winning. Both times chips are tasteless and no salt and vinegar on them. I don’t see why they bother asking if you want it if you don’t put it on. Gravy had no taste as was completely watered down so was like eating a plain potato dunked in water. Curry sauce was the same this evening too. Price is reasonable for portion size but no point having a big portion with no taste whatsoever. Very disappointing and I won’t come back now as I gave benefit of doubt last time.

My wife and I both have Shepton connections but had never been to the cafe before. Having g recently retired, we called in for a toasty and a sandwich. The food selection is brilliant, prices really reasonable (no £8 sandwiches here), and the staff really friendly. Sadly, the cafe is up for sale but we really hope to get the chance to return before it closes or goes upmarket.

Booked table . Restaurant empty, no one else in the dining room. Had to ask where we put our coats. Service extremely slow , ordered pre-lunch drinks at bar as no one attended to us, and had to ask for menu as no-one came to take our order. Long, long wait for main course and inbetween courses. Main courses very tasty but whole meal served already on plates not in serving dishes. Puddings very disappointing, profiteroles stodgy , heavy , no cream or sauce with these or the chocolate tart, very basic . Had to go to bar to request coffees. We were very neglected , staff were more interested in putting Christmas decorations up and putting fake flower arrangements around. It took three hours for five persons to be served lunch and it felt as if we were unimportant. Very disappointed , lots of staff but no attention to dining guests.

Booked very last minute for a carvery on Mothering Sunday , from the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and the staff are lovely ! The chef on the carvery was so friendly and I’m a bit fussy on having lean meat which he sorted with no issue, the cauliflower cheese was the tastiest we’ve ever had with plenty of flavour, we were told by the chef about the puddings so we decided to have one , and we were so pleased we did ! Homemade and tasty and the best apple crumble I’ve ever had ! It was so nice to enjoy a meal and feel relaxed, the lady even stopped her break to make me another orange juice and lemonade as the first one was perfect ! I don’t like to much orange, but again service with a smile and nothing to much trouble . Highly recommended and we will definitely be back ! Thank you

Gees the wait to get served is honestly ridiculous and £5.00 for a Scone with small pot of Jam and Cream is a bit steep. We were there late so the staff were 'Cleaning' and I use the term very loosely. Someone swept the floor but left most of the crumbs and detritus behind. The chairs in the conservatory area were covered in food that had been there for weeks, if not months. Place needs a damned good clean, but with what looked like a skeleton team, I can't imagine that will happen any time soon. Dobbies, your cafe needs MORE staff!!!
