From the time we arrived till we left what an amazing restaurant and the friendliest staff ever. We were greeted by the manager and head chef. We had driven from Brighton to eat here and it certainly was worth it. The food is just beautiful and the tasting menu was explained to us every step of the way. From the beginning to the end it was just perfect. We were even given some cookies when we left for our journey home the following day. Henry and his team are just so kind polite and friendly. We had a wonderful evening and definitely will return. Thank you Damson. Xxxx

We ‘hired’ the private rooms at The Red House for the celebration of my father’s life, followed by a hot buffet. Aimee, the Events Manager, was wonderful throughout, the rooms were lovely and provided an ideal setting for our family gathering of 20, with capacity for more. The Red House is a step above your average pub and has a nice country setting. Highly recommended.

Despite the lovely young waiting staff, one of our dishes was served without the fritters which was one of the key elements of the dish. We weren’t told and it was only acknowledged when we flagged it after we’d been served. We were then offered hash browns…not quite what you want with guilt headed bream. We asked for mash instead which came after we’d finished our meal and we were then reluctantly offered £2.50 off our meal as a “kindness”. We raised it with the “team leader” as the young waiting staff were not at fault. She was dismissive, rude and aggressive. We visit the area often and have always had excellent food and service at other pubs in the area. Sadly not the case here.

After complaint ( wine arrived without top and tasted like it had been mixed & steak was fatty) I received the following by email - nothing during dinner though.“ I am equally disappointed with your experience here at The Hare & Hounds as you are. It is simply not what you should expect from us.Given you took time out of your day to provide feedback, it gives me hope there is a chance to win you back and make this right. Greg, it’s important to me that you know that hospitality and making my guests happy is what keeps me going, and I do not take negative feedback lightly.Please allow me some time to regroup with my team and get back to you”Never heard anything back and when I tried to reply to email it was a ‘no-reply’ email address.For a £135 bill ( for 2 people, excluding the service charge) I expected a lot better !
