Really poor. Not impressed with the service and the food. Arrived for lunch with my family, my son and his wife were working so we called in for a quick lunch and drinks. We only ordered two sandwiches and it took over an hour to receive our food which by then was too late for my son and wife. So they left without any food! The pub wasn’t even busy and when the food eventually arrived the baguettes had been over warmed in a microwave and the chips were under cooked. Really poor service, no apology or explanation. Amazing to see the replies from the pub about the poor food and service: we regret to hear that you had this experience with us. Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we can improve. We hope you will consider us again in the future. Take care. NO CHANCE 🤣

Lovely service from Leah and lovely food. Particularly child friendly for our two year old grandson. Merry Christmas xxx

Friendly, welcoming pub with a good choice of drinks. We called in for lunch on a cold Saturday. It was a little bit chilly inside when we arrived but the food was very good. Particularly recommended is the pork medallions with brandy in a creamy sauce.

This is a lovely old pub with a probably 1980/90s hotel extension on the side. Friendly reception and waiting staff. Fairly minimalist old school breakfast although my eggs Benedict (oddly with bacon rather than ham) was tasty and well cooked. I didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t really comment. The public rooms are older worlde characterful but the general feel of the bedrooms is dated (stained dark wood, chipped furniture, not enough power points, poorly sealing windows, particularly a problem if you are facing the A34 trunk road). Attempts have been made to update (nice bed throws and a capsule coffee machine in the rooms) but it can’t hide the reality. The place needs investment to gut it and bring up to date. Perfectly usable but not a “destination” or up to international standards.
