We visited this pub after a long break, and we were nicely welcomed by the new owner, Pete. The food was amazing and very tasty. We got beef burger and fish and chips. The food was delicious and mouth-watering. Dog friendly place, too, and approved by our pup! Definitely, we will be back. Thank you. PS. Wishing new owners all the best and see you soon.

I was at the Station Garden on Tuesday just gone. Neil was just amazing! The pub was busy yet despite it being just Neil and a new guy on his very first shift (we were told). Neil was incredible! He maintained a smile, a positive attitude and was a consummate professional at all times. The new guy a young South African lad did really well. Even when a regular and her partner were at each other’s throats Neil was diplomatic and extinguished the situation before it kicked off. The pub was clean, safe and enjoyable for all. Neil is an absolute asset to the pub even accommodating a customer with what I’m guessing was a mental health concern assisting both her and the police flawlessly. Just wanted to say a big thank you to Neil your effort and fantastic customer service do not go unnoticed.

The Apple Cart is a perfect setting for a large family gathering. Service always extremely courteous and professional (Chelsea W was taking care of us last time). The steaks are excellent and with 25% off for serving forces, makes it a truly viable alternative to staying at home!

We had dinner there last Satuday evening for my sisters 50th Birthday. Was so much fun, really great, local pub, fantastic atmosphere, that we could walk to. I had the burger which frankly was incredible - enormous and utterly delicious, thank you. Will definitely be back again soon.

This is a lovely old pub with a probably 1980/90s hotel extension on the side. Friendly reception and waiting staff. Fairly minimalist old school breakfast although my eggs Benedict (oddly with bacon rather than ham) was tasty and well cooked. I didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t really comment. The public rooms are older worlde characterful but the general feel of the bedrooms is dated (stained dark wood, chipped furniture, not enough power points, poorly sealing windows, particularly a problem if you are facing the A34 trunk road). Attempts have been made to update (nice bed throws and a capsule coffee machine in the rooms) but it can’t hide the reality. The place needs investment to gut it and bring up to date. Perfectly usable but not a “destination” or up to international standards.
