Good prices. Friendly staff. One regular who is so annoying stops me from going back.

Even though I used to like Basil for their coffee and pancakes, I would never go back again because the owner is incredibly rude and openly made fun of my accent. The manager at the St John’s Road location had never made me feel welcome either. The prices are also ridiculous.

We tried the new Clocktower Bistro expecting mediocre food. We were pleasantly surprised at the service (very busy) and delighted with our lunch, a creamy jacket potato with cheese and home made coleslaw plus a good crisp. side salad...all for £6.50. Great value will use regularly.

This is just a reflection on the spa facilities alone . I found the layout of the spa very unhygienic because people wearing outdoor shoes have to pass the steam room and the pool to get to changing rooms / gym / treatments so the floor got dirty quickly from wet feet and shoes from outside . The changing room was so cramped by the lockers only one person could change in that whole area plus many lockers were broken . The shower head in the shower broke and fell off . The pool was tiny and cold and no real area to sit and relax if you have friends with you . Being such a small pool there is no need for a shallow and deep end just have the same average depth as most pools have . Overall some updating and refigurement of the layout of the spa is needed . Tiny steam room and no hot tub . Those buying a day package will be disappointed. The one great thing for my stay was the fantastic facial in a very relaxing room that saved the experience If this wasn’t called The Spa Hotel but something else , these would be extra facilities and a little bonus As for the rest of the hotel the staff were friendly and our room was particularly luxurious and all very clean.

Good ingredients but cold and worst poached egg I have ever seen. Service is non existent!!! How they had the nerve to serve this is beyond me… On a positive it is clean and toilet okay.

We went for a special birthday lunch with a guest who is very hard of hearing. A table in a quiet alcove had been booked to cater for his disability. When we arrived, on time, this table had been given to others, seriously detracting from the experience. Whilst the staff on duty were friendly and helpful, there were not enough of them; the service was slow. Apart from the main course fish, the portions were very small. This particularly applies to the thimbleful of mushy peas served to my wife. The expense of refurbishment of this restaurant was wasted. The venue is letting down the reputation of Tunbridge Wells. We will not visit again.
