The ROSE & CROWN, located at Grosvenor Rd, Tunbridge Wells TN1 2AY, is a pub we visited after being redirected from The Guinea to watch the Champions League final. While the service was commendable, with diligent bartenders and the added bonus of a snooker table, there were aspects that detracted from the overall experience. The pub's traditional look and feel, combined with large screens, created a suitable atmosphere for watching the game. The ambiance was lively, and the music was decent. However, the presence of some unpleasant locals, including grumpy and intimidating individuals, made the environment uncomfortable. On a positive note, the pricing was reasonable, and security was present to maintain order. Nevertheless, without efforts to attract a better crowd and improve the general upkeep of the pub, it risks being frequented by less desirable patrons. As it stands, I wouldn't recommend or revisit The ROSE & CROWN until significant improvements are made.

Came here to watch the boxing with my daughter on Saturday, it was a good atmosphere and the staff were nice. The wine they served was good and was really reasonably priced. It’s a great pub if your into your sport as they have lots of big screens and plenty of seating.

Food is not served here as far as I know. New landlord has ruined this place, very rude and extremely hostile to anyone he decides he doesn't like, a friend's mum was strangled and manhandled by the landlord with no justification/reason. Staff not trained at all, staff member couldn't even change a barrel as they 'didn't know how' no help from management as they 'were sleeping upstairs' on a busy peak evening when football was on. Toilets made me want to throw up and the drinks tasted like the lines haven't been cleaned in a long time! I won't be coming back and I'm sure that he has lost a lot of old regulars due to his general disrespectful comments and slanderous remarks about members of the public/customers. A real shame as this used to be a good cheap night out. Also I wouldn't play the machines as when you win money it won't be paid out due to whatever excuse is provided that day!

I was out last week with my friends and family having a drink and there was this young chap behind the bar and he looking no older then 16 was shouting and screaming! And I must of been he’s mates who was also looking like they where under age! I really don’t know why or how they are hiring underage people I will be putting in a formal complaint! It used to be a lovely pub, I rarely come over to Tunbridge wells and I love the town but there’s been so much going on with youths misbehaving.

What an absolute dump, run by an inebriated 18 year old boy who threatened and abused a local punter in front of us when he didn’t give him a light, even though he explained that he was a non-smoker. A low class establishment that is definitely not recommended.

Dropped in for a few beers on a Saturday afternoon Great old style friendly local pub with some of the best prices in Tunbridge Wells. Great for a few beers during the day, with some great characters in there. At least 2 big TVs for football, and various sports. Live music DJ at night times.

A lovely little boozer up the hill in Tunbridge Wells. The barmen were brilliant - cheerful, happy and happy for a quick chat (it was reasonably busy). It's not very often you walk into a pub to ABBA but we got a whole album (don't worry, it didn't last all night - but it is quite an eclectic range). Nothing wrong with that! The locals (?) were nice enough and were, for what I saw, a cheerful and happy lot. The Guinness was excellent as was the Harvey's Sussex Best

So i enter the pub and first of all it was filthy. I stayed despite my anxiety about the place. Then i head to the to restroom to wash my hands before i eat. Then i see a member of staff sniffing drugs off the counter. I was shocked and appalled i walk up so i can complain to the management and i could not believe my eyes. There was a member of staff and the public double teaming a midget while a greased up sumo wrestler ate chicken and took bets on who will finish first. Will not return back ever again.

I went to the Rose and Crown to celebrate the reopening of the pub. I gave my phone number and postcode and had to use the hand sanitiser. I was then shown to a table and gave my order. Table service is the order of the day. The tables and chairs were spotless and on each table is a bottle of sanitiser. The service was excellent and the bar maid was very cheerful. Lovely to have the pubs back. A great evening all round.

The Rose and Crown falls firmly into the “local pub” category, which suited me perfectly. The service was very good, as was the music on the jukebox, and there was also sport on the telly. The clientele were most definitely non-touristy and were very friendly and nice. The sole exception was a dreadful, foul-mouthed woman, and it was just our bad luck to be in the pub at the same time as her. I must stress however that this didn’t spoil our evening and we would certainly use the Rose and Crown again. It’s a very good pub.

Although this traditional pub isn’t to everyone’s taste, we love it. It is a traditional working persons sport bar. Small but perfectly formed, horse shoe shaped with a small heated garden (for those who smoke) and very clean toilets. Always a bonus! The drinks are very reasonable (cash only but cheaper than Spoons) the service is great and the characters that frequent are the salt of the earth types. Funny, friendly and straight talking. No flutes, no whistles and no fancy trimmings to bump up the cost of a great pint. If your looking for a great place to have after work drinks and maybe watch a football match or snooker tournament then this is the place. Thank you to the landlord/bar staff. See you soon x

We recently booked at the Rose and Crown for Father's Day mainly because we had left it too late and they still had spaces. When we first arrived we had booked for 6 but they tried to seat is on two separate tables - so we had to push these together ourselves... The waiter was pleasant and although he obviously had little restaurant experience he was enthusiastic and friendly - the decor in the upstairs dining room left something to be desired- the carpet is a lurid bright blue which clashes with the rest of the colour scheme and looks cheap and tacky- there are lovely high ceilings but the room is dominated by a large window with wired safety glass which again looks cheap and nasty. The food when it came was hot and tasty, but the portions were very small 1 1/2 potatoes each and only two types of veg which were carrots and broccoli. The plates were tiny.. Not much larger than side plates and certainly not restaurant dinner plates! We had to ask for extra gravy as there was very little on our plates but on the plus side the meat was beautifully cooked and the dessert - a chocolate mousse was lovely all in all the food was good but was let down by the decor, lack of ambience and portion sizes I would probably not go back again as we all left feeling less than full and it just wasn't cosy or comfortable enough

I Felt unable to touch anything (went I visited the barman went around the pub straightening beer mats as soon as they had been touched) and unfriendly. I was with my Aunty who is not from Kent (and either way the pub had just opened) and she was feeling faint so ate some chocolate. When asked not to (as they serve food) she didn't realise they were being serious which the barman who I think may be manager didn't take too kindly to so he decided everyone she was with and who had just arrived ( on their own accord and hadn't organised to meet us there) were not only going to not get served but were barred. The pub then only had one person left in it with her two children who were eating raw parsnip which they had bought into the pub and was all over the floor...I personally was looking forward to eating in this pub until I was treated in this way over some chocolate . I used to love this traditional pub but now it is far from it.

This was a lovely, delicious and relaxing lunch for two. We chose from the a la carte menu and it was really satisfying. We commenced the dining experience with a delicate apple, stilton, pecan salad & a perfectly proportioned French onion soup. Both excellent. Mains were blackened cod (hit the spot) and a magnificent pork schnitzel. For pud, we had the creme brûlée and the mandarin parfait. Delightful. Service was quick, efficient but not too hasty.
