We were looking forward staying here, but so disappointing our massages got cancelled two days before staying, the room was disappointing toilet was running water all night and the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever stayed in, mattress so hard that I even tried sleeping in the chair in the room. Dated rooms and bathroom needs attention, plug didnt fit the bath and the coffee and tea tray had to put the kettle on the floor as no socket for it. Room service approx hour wait for a sandwich, to be fair it was a really good sandwich though. Breakfast very tasty but over 45 minutes wait and had a hair on the sausage! Also had to ask for our toast as got forgotten and the staff were so rushed that you couldn't even talk to them. Staff all rushed off their feet so no reflection on them, poor management I suspect not hiring enough people and trying to get them to do too much. Also walls are paper thin in the rooms, can hear when people are going to the toilet and hear full conversations. Needs work to get it up to par for a 4 star hotel.

Had a wonderful overnight stay. The reception area is welcoming and has an air of comfortable luxury. The Christmas decorations were extremely tasteful (throughout the whole hotel). The room was spacious, thoughtful decoration in keeping with the hotel’s age and features. The spa treatment was excellent and the therapist was very pleasant and applied the exact level of pressure I requested. As for the festive menu in the beautiful Orangery Restaurant, it was superb. Breakfast was excellent, such a wide variety to choose from. What made this hotel exceptional were the staff. They all smiled, offered help when needed without having to ask. I will be back in the summer to explore the extensive grounds.

Had a wonderful time here. Irena the spa receptionist was fantastic and so attentive. Luda my masseuse was so professional, asked if I had any injuries, how soft or hard I wanted the pressure. I came out fully invigorated. My partner also enjoyed her session with Abby. Great couple of days.

A very smart hotel set in extensive grounds with a gym and a small swimming pool. It used to be owned by the Goring family but was sold a few years ago and lost some of its character. Still worth 4 stars however.

We stayed here on the night of our wedding (held at a nearby venue) and it was absolutely beautiful. The honeymoon suite was gorgeous, the bath in particular was lovely and exactly what you need after the longest, busiest day of your life. The bed was super comfortable, breakfast the next morning was brilliant and all the staff were lovely throughout our stay and to all of our guests who also stayed there. We will definitely go back to use the spa facilities soon!

Mixed review here! Beautiful place and surroundings. Absolutely amazing massage. Lovely staff! However, I believe I slept for around 2 hours, the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. As for breakfast, my husband only ever has toast, so I ordered myself a cooked breakfast, him toast, and I added toast onto mine hoping that they would send it so that his breakfast was sufficient. 'a selection of toast' includes 1 slice of white bread and 1 slice of brown bread. Given that we paid for 2 people to have breakfast I had hoped they would add the additional toast I added onto our order, sadly not. I had Inedible rock hard black pudding also. We were given a huge jug of milk yet a tea pot thay only held enough for 2 small cups of tea, which didn't make sense and seemed a waste. We left early, losing money for a massage I had booked for my husband, to go home and eat and have a decent cup of tea. Sadly we wouldn't stay again, but would 100% come back to use the spa!

Location great as close to centre of Tunbridge Wells, room was “ok” for the price, tired but fair sized for a standard double. The bed was poor, far too hard and v small. The spa is tiny, only 5-6 places to sit and all taken by towels but no one in site. The sauna’s heat was too intense and light bright so couldn’t relax, the steam room barely “steamed” and just smelt stale/mouldy. Breakfast was average, continental not much there and the cooked was poor. Avos on toast with eggs, the toast was tiny so the portion looked like a fine dining starter, without the fine. Don’t rush there

Very beautiful period hotel, magnificent decor, spa, swimming pool, large park, quiet location. Everything is perfect, very clean and very well maintained. Very nice home. But downside for the restaurant. Dinner was very expensive and quite ordinary. Very disappointed with the kitchen. The breakfast is very varied but the service is very slow. We ordered eggs and bacon which we had to wait 45 minutes for. In the end, we asked for faster service on other days and there was an improvement. On the other hand, we preferred to dine elsewhere the other evenings.

We had a last minute stay here last night due to the down pour of snow, meaning we couldn't get home. I have to leave this review to say a special thank you to all the staff. They were so friendly and accommodating, especially the front of house team who were run ragged helping lots of other unfortunate folk who couldn't get home that night. The staff really make this a special place. It has a lot of character, is charming and you feel at ease. The room we booked was classed as 'spacious' and it lived up to its name. Would highly recommend mostly due to the team of friendly staff.

Three of us had a meal here last week which was suppose to be a celebration meal. The food was extremely slow in coming and when it did finally arrive was a very small amount for the vegetarian dishes of cold cauliflower and lentils costing I believe around £18 each, my husband had the pheasant which was not properly cooked. As this was a specail family occasion I did not want to complain and make a scene but when we walked out the door my husband said for the price £80 he felt we had been ripped off. I complained later by email but was offered a bottle of wine, not good enough when the meal was so lousy to repeat again paying that price! There are many other places (but not the Spa) I would recommend in Tunbridge Wells for that price for three meals and two glasses of wine!

Booked a table for 4 as part of my wife's birthday celebrations and had to amend the timing at the last minute as my son and his wife were running late. Rang the Spa Hotel and this was not a problem. The food was very good with ample proportions, maybe more than enough for some. We all enjoyed the 3 course set menu, chose a good bottle of wine which was reasonably priced and afterwards enjoyed a coffee in the lounge. The restaurant staff were very attentive and there were no delays in serving between courses, which we have experienced in this restaurant before, possibly being the last family of the day to sit down to lunch might have had some bearing.Everything fine up to this point. I asked for the bill and immediately noticed they had added on £16.00 for 2 Chicken Terrine's which were included in the cost of the 3 course set lunch. On pointing this out, and after a small wait the bill returned minus the £16.00, but I observed that the discretionary 12 1/2% service charge was exactly the same as when it included the 2 erroneous items, of course this should have been reduced accordingly. In fairness, when I pointed this out, the service charge was immediately taken off, guilt or what? I suppose you can say by them making this mistake I ended paying less than what I would have done if the bill had been correct in the first place. This sort of thing really annoys me, it makes you wonder how many people would have noticed this. My recommendation when dining at the Spa is to really scrutinise your bill before paying.

The beef main had no taste and those that had the lamb said it was tough. We were not offered any condiments mint sauce or horseradish. We declined sweet.Overpriced for quality and have had much better food in pubs at half the price.Needless to say the wedding lunch has been made somewhere in The Wells.Place looks jaded. Have not been to The Spa Hotel for several years so , as we were coming up from the coast to meet up with friends from London we thought an ideal place to book for lunch . We arrived a little early expecting to have a pre lunch drink before going into the Chandelier restaurant, but this was not offered or seemed to be available. There were only 2 seats as although no one else there , the low tables were set up for afternoon tea ( this was at 12.30) .On entering the dining room we were shown to our table , no where to put coats , so these we put over the backs of our chairs!!!!!!!!The drinks order was taken but was not correct, the starter was Ok but nothing special , my husband had a piece of crab shell in his.- no bread rolls , just a slice of bread. The main courses of 3 roast beefs and 1 turkey were Luke warm and the roast potatoes also warm but hard as if they had been “standing “ for sometime. We had to ask for condiments, as these were not offered.Only two of our party had a dessert , the Christmas pudding again Luke warm and incredibly sweet, which detracted from the dish. The China was mismatched - gone was the nice white crockery. It was certainly not good value for money.Apart from the whole meal being disappointing, The Spa Hotel had changed for the worse from our last visit. Then on arrival someone took your coats, showed you to seating in the lobby where drinks were offered. Gone are the nice touches of having your seat pulled out for you in the restaurant and napkins unfolded for you. Gone is the lovely food and exceptional service. The whole ambience has gone and the magnificence of what was The Spa Hotel has gone - completely down hill. We shall not visit again.

We all went for roast dinners and the beef was very nice but there was not enough in the way of vegetables and the roast chicken that some ordered looked more like a starter as the portion was so small. Its a classic case of nice tasting food but tiny portions. Might be ok for 60+ year olds but anyone that has a decent appetite will walk away still feeling hungry. For the price paid we expected more. £8+ for a starter and £15 for a roastWont be coming back in a hurry. Lunch here midweek is still a satisfying experience overall, but to some extent the impressive surroundings, leads to higher expectations than can be reasonably satisfied by a set lunch with a limited choice. Nevertheless if you like to eat in a magnificent well lit dining room, with white linen tableware, rolls and water on the table, a full set of cutlery, comfortable upholstered chairs, and a decent carpet, with a reasonable distance between tables, this is still an enjoyable experience. The friendly staff ( now less formally trained and attired than in the past) are pleasant and helpful, and happy to serve more rolls without demur. So with a set lunch you get a lot for a reasonable price. If you wish to match the surroundings, and impress your guests, choose from the a la carte menu, and the pricier end of the extensive wine list. The set food was well cooked, the plates were warm. Portions are modest, and arranged in the modern fashion. One major disappointment was the Lamb shank came shredded, spiced, and in sausage form. It was tasty but looked more like another alternative - the boudin. This was apparently a culinary flourish by the chef, and not an ordering error. This sort of experimentation may be in fashion, but this restaurant attracts many elderly customers, and they expect lamb shank to be on the bone and instantly recognisable. The glass of house wine, the starters, and the puddings were modest too but good, and finishing with petite fours and coffee left us satisfied. There are not many places in Tunbridge Wells which deliver so much for so reasonable a price, and where there is a generous carpark and well maintained grounds to stroll in.

2 years ago this was one of the best places to eat in Tunbridge Wells. Then the chef changed and the food was still good but the set menu choice particularly at lunchtime was poor unless you wanted to eat off the a la carte - the prices alc are just a joke - £37 now reduced to £32 for a fillet steak!! Then the excellent maitre d' left and the front of house also went downhill. A slightly more extensive set menu has been introduced but it changes only once a month and the quality of the cooking has gone down. This has to be the best dining room ambience wise in Tunbridge Wells but everything else is just not up to scratch. I used to lunch or dine here at least once a week. Sadly, no longer.

I thought the days of subsidised meals were over. So my advice is hit the Chandelier restaurant for one last lunch before someone wakes up, smells the jus, and flicks the switch. You can get a three course lunch with wine for less than £20. It doesn't take the brains of Einstein to work out that each meal served must be costing the Spa Hotel at least three times that much in staff costs, ingredients and overheads. So why do I predict it will close? Simple. Firstly, this once thriving establishment has become a modern day Marie Celeste - empty and forgotten. Secondly, it must be losing shed loads of money. The front of house is efficient and friendly, the surroundings elegant and sophisticated and the prices competitive. However, the essential ingredients for a thriving successful restaurant have disappeared - that is an imaginative, savvy and receptive chef; and as a consequence, customers. Put simply, customers have disappeared because what is offered just doesn't cut the mustard. The menu choices have become characterless, predictable and repetitive and as a consequence the food now fails to excite. Portions are skimpy for some dishes and the offerings have minority appeal. The quality of the ingredients seem ok but their preparation won't win any prizes. It's no longer fantastic. So you might want to get yourself along there for a final voyage before the good ship 'Chandelier' sinks in a sea of indifference. But be warned, £20 for three courses with wine may appear to be bargain of the year but that's about what it's worth.

The food was excellent. Delicious, well presented and imaginative. The big disappointment was that the portion sizes were stingy. The Chef must have gone to Mr. Bumble's School of Catering. My salad starter came up tiny and was gone in three mouthfuls, but I decided not to say anything. The main course was fine, but the sweet was such a small portion that I just had to send it back. This was rectified with little fuss. I was grateful for being able to fill up with the delicious bread. It is interesting to note that a previous reviewer also felt moved to comment on the portion sizes. I would have had the cheese board but baulked at paying a £5.50 supplement because it would have meant paying £10.50 on top of the two course menu price just to have a cheese course, which is quite ridiculous. The Table d'hote lunch time menu choice was three choices for each course - including the vegetarian option. However one of the starters was chicken and guess what was one of the main courses? - yes chicken. Not carefully thought through. As a rule, I quite like small menus (but not small portions) because they (usually) indicate freshly prepared seasonal food. It held true here - but a main course red meat option would have been welcome. As far a price is concerned, it wasn't the cheapest around but neither was it the dearest. Tunbridge Wells is well provided with restaurants offering equal value, although, to be fair, not many offer the same level of refinement and quality of food. It is difficult to see what market and what profile of people this restaurant is designed to appeal to at lunchtimes - and where they might come from. There is no passing trade, competition is fierce and they are 'out on a limb'. Therefore the restaurant must rely on word of mouth. Addressing the portion size problem, sorting out the cheese supplement and providing a wider choice of menu items would undoubtedly widen it's appeal. There were no more than 12/14 diners at lunchtime on the day of our visit, which is telling. I would say the price of £15.00 for two courses and £20.00 for three courses on the table d'hote menu was pitched right. Any dearer and the restaurant might end up with even less customers. They are so very nearly there and they deserve to do well. The food is approaching Michelin standard, price is spot on, service good and it offers a welcome degree of sophistication. The Chandelier restaurant definitely has the potential to be Tunbridge Wells' best kept secret. I would go back, but in my opinion, it's appeal is limited. I can see many might easily come away disappointed because of the lack of choice on the table d'hote menu, and the tiny portions. Next time I'd hope to be met with a bit more variety in respect of menu options and definitely a lot more food on my plate.

We ate dinner in the Chandelier restaurant on both the 24th. & 25th. May 2014 - both were enjoyable experiences. The restaurant itself is traditional in the 'country mansion' style and very elegant; as its name suggests it has beautiful chandeliers. It also has large windows with a pleasant outlook - especially those at the far end which overlook an attractive small pond, shrubs and trees. The tables look good with decent linen table cloths. There is plenty of space so one feels one has some privacy. One can choose from the A la Carte menu or a very reasonably priced (but consequently more limited) Table-d' hote menu - this was the option we chose.Service was superb from start to finish - friendly, yet efficient and professional. The food itself was very good, as it usually is - we've eaten in this restaurant a number of times over the last ten years and have always found the meals to be of a high standard - well cooked and presented with the portion sizes being correct (in my opinion) for an average person.Eating in this restaurant always seems like a special occasion and I hope to return in the not to distant future. It should be noted that the current owners are refurbishing the public rooms of this hotel so it is possible the restaurant may be closed for a little while in the not to distant future in order to be re-decorated. This does not in any way indicate the restaurant is shabby in any way it just indicates the owners wish to keep up a high standard.

Having been asked to select a restaurant for a special celebration, and on the basis of several previous visits for meals, our host arranged Sunday lunch in the Chandelier Restaurant. The usual elegant surroundings followed by poor service and regrettable food. The waiters appeared to have little or no conversation, and a request for a second bread roll was greeted with little interest followed by a wait of some 15 minutes, presumably whilst rolls were cooked since they arrived hot.The main course (roast pork) was served scarcely tepid and having the appearance of being left under heaters for a period. The accompanying vegetables for four adult servings arrived in one single dish holding just about two portions. The final bill was presented after waiting for 20 minutes or so, by an offhanded person who gave the felling of dealing with matters far beneath his proper station. Our host's letter of complaint was answered with a partial apology offering a free bottle of house wine when next dining in the hotel .ONCE BITTEN....TWICE SHY. NO Thank you! Money is hard earned without needing to be wasted. There is no excuse for poor service and quality in the hotel's feature dining facility even if there might be other busy areas in use. An establishment of this standing should have the expertise and ability to ensure that their standards are maintained..

We went for new year`s eve dinner and we`re surprised with the excellent atmosphere at the restaurant. All the food and service were excellent apart from the soup which had an awful burned taste. Its unacceptable to serve a soup in that condition, considering the price that I paid for. Apart from this poor detail all the evening was amazing.

Good value lunches, we have been several times and the restaurant was always full, I understand they have a lunch club, I wish I lived nearer as I would join like a shot ! A little bit of old world charm, thank goodness the restaurant hasn't gone to bare floor boards and tables with no tablecloths !

We always enjoyed eating here. Lovely food at s good price. However our last experience was ruined by the manager who rudely asked us if we had requested our bill which we indeed ordered when our dessert was served. When confirming we indeed had, he rolled his, gruffed and walked away. When he came back with it he said in a sarcastic way: so in a hurry then. Now we are completely miffed as to why he reacted this way when up until then enjoyed a lovely dinner and spent quite a considerable amount! A real shame as the other staff was lovley

Had to meet a friend for lunch and he suggested the Spa. Was kind of taken a back expecting a pub. Whilst the restaurant had only 4 other bookings this should not be taken as a review of the food more a reflection on their advertising. Was pleasantly surprised to find they were offering a two course lunch for just £12.00Large airy room with attentive and friendly staff. Interesting menu to choose from. Both courses were well prepared and presented. In summary not at all the stuffy environment I was expecting and the food was modern interesting and very taste.

I would never chose to eat in an hotel restaurant but the people I was visiting had selected it and I was delighted to find all my prejudices overthrown by a really good lunch. The setting is most gracious with lovely garden views, the ambience elegant and the service professional. There are daily fixed price menus as well as an a la carte. There is an emphasis on seasonal produce and everything was beautifully cooked and presented. All three starters were delicious. My fish was clearly very fresh and the vegetables perfectly cooked. None of us was planning on a dessert but the list was so inviting that we all did in the end. I had the plate of cheeses which were well chosen, in good condition and freshly cut. The wine list is comprehensive and not overly expensive.I was surprised and very pleased to find such good, modern, cuisine - and in Tunbridge Wells with all reputation for stuffiness. This is a high class restaurant by any standards.

Been there today for a meeting. The meeting room was spacious and well equipped. The staff was really pleasant and very responsive. We had lunch served in the restaurant and food standard was absolutely great, tasty and filling - proper food and not sandwiches for a change. Daily delegate rate was affordable, considering the level of service received.Did not have a chance to stay overnight or use the Spa, but I will go back to try it out.

My Mum and I arrived here for dinner. We were shown to our table, and given our menu and the wine list. We then ordered and the water and wine arrived promptly. However we waited a good hour for the starters to arrive. Unfortunately the carpaccio of beef was extremely disappointing. It was not thin or pounded thin as it should have been. There was two slices of the beef which was a rather small portion. Unfortunately the meat was too thick to be cut with a starter knife and instead pulled apart!! We only accepted the starter as they promised that the main course would be served promptly. We ate the starter really because we were starving after waiting so long! We did tell the waiter that it wasn't good but he wasn't interested!!The mains then arrived I had ordered the pheasant. That arrived the presentation looked nice however the food wasn't good. The breast meat was dry and over cooked, the leg meat was tough, unfortunately I had to spit it out as I couldn't break the meat enough to break it down. Unfortunately my tooth also broke. We ten asked for the bill and left, we really couldn't face a third course especially when we realized how long other tables had waited. The table adjacent to us ordered their food had their starter and main course well before our starter arrived. The service was terrible and the food was worse still.I really don't know how they have a rosette?.

Went here in a family group to celebrate a 50th birthday and although expectations were high as we had already had a look at the venue I was very disappointed with the service and food on the day. First of all we had elected to have drinks and canapés half an hour before the meal but the canapés, even after I had reminded the staff several times, did not arrive until just 10 minutes before the meal and even then they were not complete. And then even though I had given the restaurant several days notice that one of our party needed dairy free food the main course was not (starter and desert were dairy free so there cannot be any excuse as to why the main wasn't). The food, I have to say was OK but in a hotel of this quality just OK is not really good enough. In defence we were given a bottle of bubbly as compensation but I would have preferred a trouble free celebration.

We booked into the restaurant for Sunday lunch - all 18 adults and 2 children and had the most wonderful afternoon being spoilt with excellent food,( a very good menu for Sunday lunch - the Patagonian lamb and the steaks were especially good) great wine and attentive polite and generous staff. This was a family event for a special birthday organised by my daughter and throughout its arranging the Hotel and its staff have been nothing but helpful and have gone out of their way to ensure our party had a super day - a true day to remember. Many thanks to the Spa.

The booking for a mid-week evening was simple and easy – though not necessary other than to confirm that there was not another event taking place there on the chosen evening. The Spa Hotel was easy to find and there appeared to be sufficient car parking available to cater for most occasions. The restaurant itself is set in a separate room with its own bar and has a previous age ambiance with the chandeliers (but odd unusual colours elsewhere along one of its walls that were not in keeping with the remainder of the restaurant) – however, the tables were nicely set well apart, covered by linen and there are views across the lawns and a pond. The Staff were attentive and provided a friendly and efficient service from beginning to end, however this was somewhat spoiled by the fact the initial drink, of dry white wine, was warm. The wine menu was good and there were English Wines available in both the still and sparkling ranges. The menu itself (a set price 2 or 3 courses) was good, not overly large or complicated, but somehow, failed to inspire and only 2 courses were ordered. The food itself was good, being well cooked to order and presented. All in all, a rather lack lustre dinner event in what should be grand surroundings.

This is a restaurant local to us, so have eaten here quite regularly. The 'special' lunch - £14 for 2 courses, including glass of wine is normally good value. A group of six of us lunched in the restaurant recently. Pleasant atmosphere, well spaced tables covered in spotless linen. The food, however, didn't match expectations. The ladies all had the dish of the day, which was sole fillets. They were dry, overcooked and curling at the edges. The men's choices were also overcooked and dry. They had obviously been sitting on the hot plate for too long. Very disappointing. Had we been dining on our own,we would have complained. When in the company of others it was not appropriate. All 3 couples vowed not to return. The Spa should ensure more of a consistent quality.

We loved the slightly olde worlde charm of this restaurant which we visited mid week. With the tables nicely set apart and views across the lawns and pond, they have a wonderful lunch deal of £14.00 for two generous courses; on the day we went the main was a huge whole plaice cooked in a lovely butter sauce and served with fresh veg - wonderful! Wine by the glass was very acceptable and service was seamless. The Portuguese Maitre D' was a great character worth the visit alone! Altogether, excellent value and ambience with a good, freshly cooked, menu. We can't wait to go again.

I went there with 2 friends for a 50th birthday lunch. The decor of the restaurant was impressive and the waiting staff extremely attentive. We opted for the set menu, and our starters were delicious. However, when it came to main courses, my stuffed chicken was bland as was my friend's fish with crumbed topping. Her new potatoes didn't taste nice and were not cooked properly - we did mention this to the waiter. All in all, a rather disappointing lunch in grand surroundings.

Although local to the area, I had never been to the spa hotel. We decided to choose it for a special family birthday lunch. The Sunday lunch is good value at £19.50 for 2 courses and £25 for 3. You would be hard pushed to beat that in surrounding pubs and much less comfortable surroundings. The restaurant is formal and grand, but not stuffy and perfect for a special occasion. Many around us were celebrating anniversaries and birthdays and you can see why. Lovely comfortable chairs too!The service was very slow, but seeing as we had not all caught up in a while it did not matter as it was nice to take our time - others might have found this annoying though. The food was superb. Good portion sizes and tasty combinations. Makes me wonder why we have never been before!I would still save it for a special occasion as it is a grand place but do not be put off and think it is too traditional - or else you are missing out! As we left the restaurant the foyer was a bustle of activity with afternoon teas - maybe we shall try that next time too!

We went to lunch with friends on a lovely sunny day. The dining room is large, high and nicely bright. The head waiter and staff are most pleasant and attentive, and the menu has good variety at most reasonable prices. The food itself, when it arrived, was very good. While the service within the dining room itself was excellent, the food did take a lot of time to arrive. I suspect the kitchen would say it is cooked to order, and that is time-consuming, but it could have been speeded up a bit, I'm sure. We noticed the delays, but as it gave us time to converse and we were in no hurry ourselves, it wasn't a major problem.Overall, a very pleasant experience in a lovely location.Take a walk in the extensive gardens afterwards, if you can, not forgetting the lily pond in the front.

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday a few months ago.The hotel itself is pretty impressive with some amazing gardens and spectacular grounds, the health club is a bit small and unimpressive. The rooms seemed very good and the one we had was very modern and tastefully decorated.Anyway.... !!! On to the food !.We dined in the restaurant which has an AA rosette. But unless it sorts out its service they wont be geting another oneThe food was pretty good but still lacked real style and depth. The service was awful, i watched a waiter take the wrong food to a table, wine that was ordered not get delivered, we were also not charged for any of drinks. The restaurant only had about 10 people seated 2 of which were us !!! After dinner we tried to get a late night drink and the foyer area only to be told that room service only had a limited selection of drinks so they would do their best to accomodate us !!! Bearing in mine we were the customers !!!.Anyway overall an ok visit i would recommend staying in the hotel but i think they could do a lot better, perhaps things have improved since our visit ?

I was taken to the Chandelier Restaurant for a surprise Sunday lunch for my birthday. Although I was initially expecting a stuffy, formal restaurant with a traditional menu I was surprised to find it a very relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable experience. The new Head Waiter made my two daughters, aged 7 and 12, extremely welcome and at ease. The food was ample and delicious. The service was attentive but relaxed. A three course menu with coffee was £25 per head (children's menu also available) and was great value for money.I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant to anyone wanting a really special Sunday lunch in beautiful surroundings - right in the heart of Tunbridge Wells. We will be back soon!

Went here with 13 friends for our annual Christmas Dinner. Service was very, very slow (I think a snail would have brought our food more quickly) and because the restaurant was very full and a private room function was also going on, we had seasonal staff waiting on us, some of whom did not understand English, so made things difficult. They did not fill up our wine glasses from the bottles we had ordered unless we asked them to do so, and weren't attentive at all. The main problem appeared to be lack of skilled staff and if this is the case, perhaps the Spa shouldn't be taking so many bookings at this time? The meal was quantity rather than quality and the vegetables were either overcooked to the point of extinction (potatoes, parsnips etc.) or so hard we were unable to cut them (carrots and sprouts). I think this was very poor value for money and we will be looking to go elsewhere for our next outing.

I would recommend this restaurant (The Chandelier) only for its superb food. It was well presented and absolutely delicious. Sadly, the atmosphere is just a little too formal for my liking. It was deathly quiet when we arrived and were told they had no knowledge of our booking. Not a good start! Considering there were 4 other people in a restaurant which must hold 100+, I thought it was rather amusing! No apology of course. The restaurant is just too big and it desperately needs updating. That coupled with the poor service, I was rather disappointed. However, the food was excellent and so I will not write a negative review as the chef should definitely be commended.

I normally avoid hotel restaurants but after having been for a wedding aniversary luncheon we decided to try the hotel restaurant as a couple. By coincidence a voucher became available in the local paper for a two course dinner and bottle of wine for 2 at £40.00.This offer is great value and we have since been back several times. The restaurant is set in a lovely original room of a wonderful old hotel. The feel is a formal and traditional for a special ocassion. The tables are immaculately set and comfortable seating. The food is of a high standard and good portions. We have not been dissappointed in the 6 times that we have eaten there. The staff are professional yet friendly if wanted. All in all a great place to go and eat for that special treat.

This is not a chain hotel and the food reflects this. The menu is imaginative and changes regularly. There is a set lunch which is very good value and there are often offers for dinner (we are taking advantage of one of these later this week). We have eaten here often since we found it as guests at a wedding at the hotel. It is professionally run with attention to those details that matter. The restaurant is elegant and the staff are quietly attentive. If you have a special celebration this is just the place. There is also a separate bar where you can meet up before going into eat. Do not miss this one - they are rare.

The food was very good and the young girl that seemed to be french or eastern europen was nice as well as the waiter that brought the wine. However after the starter we went out for a smoke and were promptly folled by the head waiter I presume who really wasnt at all nice he was treating us as if we would run off without paying for the bill in fairness we had told the wine waiter we were going out for a smoke and also were staying in the hotel with a credit card guarantee at reception. I must say anything romantic that could have been memorable at this hotel was spoiled by the sheer arrogance of the staff this is very poor all round for me.

I was blown away by the attention to detail during our stay. Right from the start, the staff were welcoming and helpful. As we stepped into the room—wow! The ambiance was amazing, from the music playing on the vintage-style radio to the little cakes and the ‘Happy Anniversary’ note. Dinner and breakfast were delightful—the best sea bass and mash we’ve ever had, compliments to the chef. We left feeling truly relaxed and rejuvenated.
