Great food and company What a wonderful evening we spent at The Blue Ship on Saturday night. A truly local, warm and welcoming place. I’ve not been there in too long a time however I felt like I’d not left. The fire was lit and Sophie Bailey, Jackie and I chatted together like old friends while Simon Bailey served up the most delicious Brie wedges followed by the best burgers in Sussex. If you are a regular or not, we are so lucky to have such a great, traditional pub on our doorstep and I for one won’t leave it so long till my next visit. #localbusiness #countrypub — feeling welcome at Blue Ship.

Nice cheese on toast (with the delicious Sussex Charmer cheese you can now also buy at some farm shops and small stores). Food seems to be served quite quickly but I do wish they'd do away with the, in my opinion weird, unhygienic and impersonal practice of making customers take a pager which then buzzes and vibrates when their order is ready. If I'm about to eat, I don't want to handle a pager that's been in the hands of goodness knows how many other people.

Planned a Saturday lunch walk with this pub in the middle. Was very excited to go from the good reviews for food but kitchen closed. Two others in the very tired pub with unfriendly staff who as we were sat in the empty forecourt asked us if we were going to use the pub very much to try and move us on. Go to The Fox much friendlier and wonderful menu.

Beautiful old traditional pub, right in the heart of Warnham. Plenty of parking, but be careful the car park is a little tight in places. Nicely kept and presented, with indoor and outdoor seating, the beer garden is beautiful. Quite narrow in places inside, with some steps. The pub is dog friendly. The bar is well stocked with a good range of on tap beers, lagers, spirits and soft drinks. I was even offered a taste of the ales and talked through them before I purchased one. You cannot in any way fault the service, all of the staff were polite, friendly and attentive. Not often you find a welcome like this. The food was very good indeed, very well presented, nicely cooked, tasty and a real plate full. My only minor issue, I felt the steak was basic and not quite worth the cost. Then there is my pet hate, plastic sauce packets belong in a fast food chain, not in a beautiful restaurant like this, come on guys! Very good value for money, coming in at around £176 for four, including three course meals, drinks, wine and coffee. None of our party had any issues and we would quite happily eat here again. Well done to all at the Sussex Oak.
