Beautifully fitted out, felt new, clean and fresh. Full of people on a wet day. Obviously very popular but we were disappointed. Had high hopes but the rather vinegary tomato soup was possibly a packet of reconstituted soup. It certainly wasn't homemade! The cheese on toast came on thick white bread, no wholemeal offered. I'm sorry to say I found it tasteless and boring! To me a basic cheese on toast should be mixed with beer, mustard, honey etc to give it interest. Salad trim was extra and icy cold. Won't be returning.

The best cheese on toast you will ever eat. Their Sussex Charmer cheese is beautiful. You can have an array of different accompaniments served by the friendly and helpful staff. The outside seating area is lovely in the summer and the conservatory area is prefect in the cold or wet. I have been several times and left feeling full and happy.

On recommendation from some friends, I visited here for a quick lunch to sample some of their Sussex Charmer on toast. I had a sample of both the onion marmalade and charmer pickle and both were very pleasant. However, I felt that it was quite expensive for what it was. The milkshake was also quite expensive at £4.30 and was remarkably similar to Nesquik. The view from the cafe could not be described as charming. However, beautiful hanging baskets do mask the car park and the array of pot holes. That said, it was looking very popular with cyclists and walkers who perhaps saw something I didn’t!

This seems to be the house outlet and cafe for Sussex Charmer cheese. Easy to find; just briefly head northwards off the A281 at Rudgwick. Situated on the site of a former brickworks, there's plenty of parking (with many potholes therein). A surprisingly large floorplan includes an attractive elevated terrace which must be very pleasant in warm weather. It being January, like most others, we sought shelter in the rather spartan, and not much warmer, indoor seating area. The menu is basic cafe fare, but understandably predicated on the core product although there are various other options provided by local suppliers. Ordering is done via friendly girls at the till situated at one end of the open kitchen, and what a spotless kitchen it looked too. Mrs EPR endorsed the signature choice of Sussex Charmer on toast. I was equally impressed by my Sussex Bacon roll - four slices of top quality back bacon in a soft and squishy roll. However, as any fule no, a bacon roll needs the ketchup of choice and there was none. So I requested some, it was duly acknowledged and then subsequently ignored. So, rather tediously, I had to go and find some for myself but it was well worth it. There is a small amount of retail activity on-site, but it is rather minimal and they certainly don't push their own or any other local product as much as might be expected. This location is also handy for the adjacent Firebird brewery which is definitely worth a visit.

We came across this cafe by chance - and we were glad we did. Parking and seating (inside and out) were ample despite being busy. We opted for the cheese on toast platter as the cheese is locally made and a pot of the tea, also a local selection. Both were delicious. Other coffee, cakes, lite-bites and dairy products were available to eat in or takeaway.

Earlier this year my friends and I, who are regular visitors to the Milk Churn purchased pyrex coffee mugs which were sold advertising 50p off all future drinks. However, on more than one occasion one member of staff has said it only applies to takaway coffee. The original notice did not mention takeaway, had it done so we would not have bought the mugs as we never have a takeaway. Also, I can't believe anyone would buy a glass mug for a takeaway coffee. Most of the staff allow the discount without question but if it is now only to be given on takeaway coffee we have been sold the mugs under false pretences.

My friend recommended the cheese on toast. That didn't disappoint however our coffee was lukewarm. I returned the two drinks and it took a while to try and explain that coffee wasn't hot ! I was then told the replacement would be left on the counter but I had to request that one of the many waitresses brought it out to us as my food was then getting cold. Lovely location but need to sharpen up a bit.

Dropped in for a cuppa and a cheese scone. Tea was ok, scones seem to have got smaller than I remember, and are very doughy when warmed. My main gripe is that I didn’t appreciate it being cut open for me, but worse still, the server’s finger stuck in to it to test if it was warm enough! Will be a while before we return.

We regularly buy their Sussex Charmer cheese from Lewes Farmer's market, so we decided to take a trip for lunch at their Milk Churn cafe. There is a nice large decking area to sit outside on a Summer day, it does however overlook the car park. On entering the cafe I noticed the glass fronted display of cakes which looked obviously mass produced, from a packet etc. I asked if anything was homemade on the premises and I was told no, so at least they were honest about this but it put me off ordering any of them. We did however buy their Sussex Charmer cheese which is highly recommended.

I am a great fan of Sussex Charmer cheese and was interested to visit the source of this strong and delicious cheddar/Parmesan taste treat. I had heard the cheese on toast was good so we went there for a light lunch. It would have been lighter if we had chosen a single slice of cheese toast but we plumped for a double. I had Sussex ham and cheese and my husband had red onion and cheese. Both were totally delicious. A generous amount of cheese and great bread to hold it all. Despite being very full we didn’t leave a crumb! My husband had a bottled beer from the brewery next door which is sold in the cafe. Although others have complained about service we had little interface with the staff. Orders are placed over the counter and our lunch was swiftly delivered. We bought some cheese and Sussex butter, from the small shop, to take home with us. We also took the opportunity to visit the brewery business, Firebird, next door and it is interesting to see the beer being made through a big glass window in the shop. We tasted some beers and chose a delicious ipa. A great end to our visit. Parking is very convenient too.

This charming restaurant in the wilds of West Sussex near Cranleigh, is in a delightful rural setting off the beaten track ! It specializes in toasted cheese dishes usually called charmers! It has a limited but good menu, but seating is limited and it can get very crowded, so if it is possible to book in advance, it is highly recommended to do so, as it is very popular with cyclists, who pop in en route, so there could be a sudden influx of customers, resulting in insufficient seating during Autumn and Winter. In Spring and Summer, things are different, as there is a large decking area outside, where there is hopefully adequate space to accommodate everyone straight away. You select from the menu, queue up, pay in advance and choose or return to your seat!

Nice place good food... Horrible service! Won’t go back despite everything else being ok. From the moment we were it felt like we were an inconvenience. They made a mistake with the order. Fine no problem sent it back. then they came back out to argue we had ordered the wrong thing. Eventually agreed to bring the right order and pretty much threw the food back on the table like a 13 year olds sulk. Sad as ever thing else was fine.

Arrived at 3pm,looked at the menu. Asked what the soup of the day was only to be told it wasn't available adding '' haven't got and its one of those days!!'' Never understood why when things are 'sold out' that a note isn't added onto the board stating exactly that.

A great place to meet friends for coffee or lunch - especially if you love cheese! I probably visit most months and have never been disappointed. Friendly service, lovely coffee and superb cheese on toast. Just perfect!

A hidden eatery in full view if you know it’s there. Plenty of off street free parking adjacent to The Downs Link path, great as a meeting place before or after a walk. Eat outside in summer and in the toasty warmth in winter. Open 7 days a week. Sociable seating. Friendly staff. Local produce like cheeses and drinks draw in locals to shop even when not stopping for a meal. The best cheese on toast. However they need to think about gluten free options too.

Was looking for a coffee shop on the way to Horsham. Drove through Rudgwick and saw signs for a farm coffee shop. Followed road for about half a mile and found this little gem. It was wonderful full of home made cakes and savoury items also selling local cheese and honey and many other things. Service was very good we had a bacon roll and home made cheese straws which was delicious .Definitely will be returning at some point

This is essentially a shop/cafe that sells cheese. if you like cheese on toast and don't want anything much else - then terrific - they are tasty. It also sells cakes, smoothies and tea/coffee. We went twice over the last few days and on neither occasion did they have any cheese straws left. The service is also pretty slow.

We once again paid a visit to the Milk Churn and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly, a good selection of cakes and the coffee great. We visit this coffee shop fairly regularly not only for their cake but for their fabulous cheese straws, made from their own cheese (Sussex Charmer cheese the best cheese ever). The coffee shop is very popular with cyclists- I can highly recommend it and their cheese.

Always so reliable for that supreme cheese-on-toast experience. The first time I sank my teeth into the overflowing cheesiness I experienced a powerful sense of childhood deja-vu - just like my mother used to make. That was years ago and we have been regular consumers at the Milk Churn ever since, telling our friends too.

We've visited the Boars Head a few times recently and it has been consistently excellent. Today we both had the beef bourguignon, it was delicious. A generous portion of beautifully tender beef with mash made for a great meal, dessert was an impossibility on this occasion. The welcome and service has been impeccable on every visit as well The management are clearly working hard to achieve and maintain a high standard in every aspect of what they do. We ate mid-afternoon today (Saturday) without booking but I'd suggest that booking is essential for lunch and evening meals at the weekends. We have also had the Sunday lunch on a couple of occasions and that has been to the same standard.

Driven passed this pub at least 30 times on way to Gatwick over the years but never stopped. Visited on Thursday 26th September at 1:30pm. Reasonable sized car park with lots of spaces. Pub has oak beams which gives it a real traditional vibe. Didn’t book a table but was able to be seated straight away. Good choice on the menu. We had ciabatta baguettes (one halumi one sausage/onion) washed down with a Prosecco and a beer. Service good and baguettes only £9 each. View out the back of the pub over the South Downs is stunning! Worth knowing that last food orders are 2pm for lunch. Would definitely return.

Free entry to explore the marvellous gardens at Leonardslee when booking the Ultimate experience. A thorough wine tasting, brilliantly conducted by 'Simba', a true credit to his profession as a sommelier. Fabulous wines and that Sabre moment when the cork is 'popped', my friend did this with such distinction. An excellent, delicious Afternoon Tea followed, nothing waste much of a problem, photo opportunity, carrot cake a welcome extra but 'Simba' created the icing on the cake. Fantastic experience.

Every time I order the quality is always consistent. Particularly recommend the cookie doughs. Why go to a sloppy chain when you can support a fantastic independent!

Incredible menu of unusual combinations - hard to choose. Our food was delicious. Portions were enormous. Excellent service.
