Friendly relaxed cafe with yummy cafe food and brilliant cakes. The coffee is really good and the hot drinks always properly hot! The staff are wonderful, itās a relaxed atmosphere and there is a fair bit of room around tables for a buggy or two. My favourite is the quiche with salad and chips - so good.

Delicious Champagne Afternoon Tea for two. I have dined at Hartwell House for nearly 40 years since they first opened. Today the afternoon tea was absolutely fabulous with mouth watering freshly made sandwiches, cakes & scones. Iām a great lover of afternoon tea but seldom have freshly home made sweet treats on offer. The chef, Daniel, came to check we were satisfied with his offerings and was a real delight to return at this wonderful historic hotel. Itās very quiet and full of antiques so donāt expect loads of other guests! After tea a lovely walk over the bridge and watch the wildfowl and adorable young calves. Hartwell House is a lovely quiet setting away from the busy bustle of madness. I can honestly say itās one of the best afternoon teas ever. Well done to all involved.

Sat outside for lunch, was great food and service. My step dad had pie of the day and said it was the best pub pie he's had in many many years. Lovely pub in a quiet location

Entertainment by Beatle tribute band was excellent and the pizza was yummy. To š it our stay in the pods was the best night sleep we ever had. Love the super king bed, coffee and biscuits and enjoyed using the microwave with our leftover pizza to warm it through. So good to see a great walk in shower too. Canāt wait to come back and stay again and will take photos next time š

I visited the garden centre to purchase a few items. After putting my purchases in the car I decided to have a coffee in the restaurant. I entered the restaurant and sat down at a vacant table then tried to work out how the ordering system worked. After 10 minutes or so I flagged down a passing waitress and asked how to order. She then alerted the waitress covering that area. The waitress arrived and took my order and informed me that there was a sign at the entrance stating that it was 'table service' and someone should have greeted me and shown me to a table. I had coffee and cake - I would not order either again as the coffee was very bitter and the cake (coffee & walnut) was sickly sweet with very little coffee flavour. I will not be wasting 7 pounds odd on this again. The final struggle was trying to pay. I kept trying to flag down the waitress but was ignored. I eventually flagged down another waitress who then alerted the waitress covering my table. On my way out I looked for a notice or sign saying 'table service' but couldn't find one. I think the garden centre is very good but will not use the restaurant again.

This is a really lovely pub with friendly, seemingly attentive staff and good food. However, although the food is beautifully presented, it really lacks flavour. The goats cheese pappardelle was generous but I don't believe there was any goat cheese in it. The check back was very late - we were almost finished, and feedback was given but it seemed that the waitress wasn't really listening; she nodded but made no comment or apology and I'm sure the message never go to the kitchen. It's a shame as this pub's vegetarian and vegan offerings - on paper - were way better than any other pub I've been to. They just need to live up to expectations.
