The best restaurants serving British food in Aughton and Downholland West Lancashire North West

This is our second visit to The Barn at Moor Hall, and I can absolutely say our first visit wasn't a fluke. This place is great every time. We opted for the set Sunday roast menu. The portions of the roast dinner are great, with some of the most outstanding trimmings I have ever encountered. These will be some of the best roast potatoes you will ever try, the greens and vegetables are also all exceedingly tasty and fresh. The setting is beautiful and the dining room modern but not pretentious or stuffy. Tables are generously spaced apart so you don't feel like you're right on top of one another. The staff are amongst the very best I have ever encountered and couldn't do more to help and advise. I write this review after having recently visited Northcote for a similar Sunday lunch menu - I would say Northcote is better food wise, but the setting, dining room and staff really excel at The Barn and it will definitely be in your top top Sunday roasts. We will be back for sure... or maybe a trip to Moor Hall Restaurant?

We had dinner on a Sunday at M&C Aughton, and the food was exceptional! We enjoyed all 3 courses. Our waitress Judith was so lovely, she helped us navigate the menu (one of us ate off the main menu, the other off the Sunday menu) and she was kind and attentive to our 16 month old. We can't wait to dine here again.

Wonderful Christmas dinner from beginning to end. Great staff. Definitely recommend and will book for Christmas Day again.

Excellent meal at Solo Restauant, Ormskirk. Loved the informal atmosphere and very attentive service. Tasting menu and wine flight for me and the pescatarian tasting menu for family. Loved every bite and the magic that the sommelier(sorry, didn’t get his name) performs with the wines. Tim Allen has created a little gem in the Lancashire countryside. Drinks choice was excellent, with a great selection of non alcoholic beverages, if that’s your thing. Nothing pretentious here, dress up, dress down, whatever makes you comfortable, no one is judging. If you are looking for somewhere special, definitely have a look here.

We booked the Stanley for a private reception after my father in law’s funeral- the side room newly built and recently opened accommodated 50 plus people. The booking process and communication with the staff was excellent and couldn’t have more accommodating prior to the reception. The reception on the day was outstanding and food, (buffet) freshly prepared and a high standard and all the staff helpful. I would not hesitate in recommending the Stanley.

My Uncle John's favorite place. Home away from home. Many thanks to all his amazing friends. He loved coming to the Kings for a pint. Don't be surprised if you see him in the shadows, just raise you glass and give him a cheers!
